I noticed there was no Topic on Pony tricks and tips, so I thought it would be a great idea to start one!
This is.. Pony Secrets! A Place to share tips and tricks about how to keep your Ponies in top shape.
This discussion, Nasty Knots
Ever had a pony whose main was riddled with knots?
No matter what you try, they won't budge?
If you're like me and love to get old ponies from the Flea Market, you've probably experienced it before.
Frilly, Frizzy, Knot Infested mane.
Over time I've tried everything; Dryer sheets, Fabric Softeners, Straightener.
Some work, and other times, nothing.
Hopefully today, I can help a few of my fellow collectors out!
Topic #1
Brushes
Using the right brush can really help a Pony out!
I personally use Michel Mercier brushes.
There are three different versions on the brush
PINK; Fine Hair
GREEN; Medium Hair
BLUE; Thick Hair
They are specifically made for detangling hair as well as just regular use.
I use the Pink brush for my ponies, and it glides right through the mane!
Use a lil' boiling/hot water, glide the brush through.
Small, fine tooth combs are also a savior as well.
They are very useful in small cleanups of the mane
Topic #2
Straightener
Now, a straighter can really damage a pony's mane if not used correctly, seen here on poor Apple Crisp
I used the method of dryer sheet and Softer for her as well as a straightener and it ended up making her mane stiff and melted parts of the hair off.
Her mane is somewhat better now, but be careful!
Do NOT use a heat setting too high.
I use the ChiAir Expert straightener for my Ponies, and it is wonderful!
It smoothes the hair and and sometimes will get rid of, or slightly reduce the amount of frizz on the pony.
I never go over 180 or 240 (Fahrenheit) degrees.
Topic #3
Spray
Our last topic of the day, Detangling Spray!
Detangling Sprays can be a life savor!
I wish I had thought of using them before.
Wet the ponys' mane
A couple of sprays on the tail and mane
Brush the mane until knots are out
I use the Kid Solutions "Afraid Knot Detangler" by Great Clips
The scent is Sunflower Clover.
It is a very light scent, so it won't overpower a pony.
I am sure if you use it on a scented pony, it will most likely change it to Sunflower Clover.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read!
I am not a hair expert or anything, just a simple collector wanting to share their secrets on keeping Ponies looking their best
I am sorry if some of these are inaccurate or wrong, I can delete or fix anything if needed
If you have any other tips, share them below or start your own thread!
Have a pony day!
