MLP G4 Blind Bag Wave 9 predictions

I did spy a apple-covered AJ on taobao, but they were gone pretty quick. I haven't seen a Pinkie though!

There was also a clear purple pony in Thunderlane's mold spotted. That makes 3 clear ones. I'm starting to think these will be the specials.

'Neon' or 'clear' ponies would be a pretty poor special type since we've already had two entire waves of them. Dunno if it makes much sense to have special ones if we've already had them released as normals. Like, we had a wave of glittery ponies, but only after three special ones made up the first set.

Got my first (more are coming!) Wave 9 pony in the mail today! Amethyst Star. I wish I had a Twinkleshine to compare her to, because I bet they're pretty similar, but she's a cutie. I'll see if I can't get a photo of her next to the last two Amethyst Star releases...

The new one has a lighter coat with less red in it, which is closer to her show appearance, and of course she actually has the streak in her hair now. Points all around!

Other than wave 6 directly remaking wave 4, I honestly wonder how much reissuing is intentional on Hasbro's part. Do they think "hey, last time we made a Sea Swirl figure her mane wasn't blue enough"? Or do they just go through the list of ponies at random, and sometimes they end up picking ones they've already picked, and then sometimes from there they end up choosing different molds to recast the old figures in? (Amethyst Star gets 2 Rarity and 1 Twilight, Lyra gets two Twilight and one Rarity, Peachy Sweet gets two Pinkie and one Applejack... it's a mystery!)

I think I will be tremendously disappointed if future blind bag waves do turn out to be re released [pose/colour] of already released blind bag waves. We get no variety in brushables already.

Those three are new to me. Yaaah for Coconut Cream as a Blind Bag figure. She was a G3 brushable.

So was Star Dasher or at least her symbol was. Interesting how they pull from G3.

The neon wave is just starting to stick around here. Prior to this month it was three or four months of only the wave before it (featuring the Wonderbolts).

Coconut Cream is from the TRU exclusive set that was released around the same time as Wave 1 in the US (and continues to fill its shelves even today), along with Skywishes, Gardenia Glow, Peachy Pie, Sweetsong, and Beachberry. The other two are from the Walmart Pony Power set, along with Seascape, Rainbow Swirl, Kiwi Tart, Pick-a-Lily, Periwinkle, and Waterfire.

Sassaflash and Lightning Dust look deceptively similar, down to their lightning-themed cutie marks. But while Sassaflash has two lightning bolts, Lightning Dust has only one, surrounded by three little stars. (Take my word for it; it's surprisingly hard to find screencaps of her with her cutie mark clearly visible.) So you can understand that it took me a little while to notice there was something different going on here...

Tbh, that wave's shaping up to be better than this one coming up. Half reposes and rereleases...bleh.
