Here's a thread to post your custom or spa mistakes, such as melted ponies or frizzy hair XD

Ooh.. I don't have a photo, but I recently learned what NOT to do when washing a magic message pony

I was wearing gloves... didn't realise the water has got so hot... didn't realise my fingers were rubbing over her rump and voila... ruined perfectly good symbols.

It took a lot not to cry. Especially since she was a gift from a neighbour who was having a clear out - cool stuff like that NEVER happens and then I go and ruin the pony...

Sniff.

See these beautiful vintage (although bait) baby G1s?

They got a little acetone bath to help dissolve their paint/stains and also their neck seal.

I guess you really can't tell from this picture too well- but one melted completely and another will be good for nothing but a zombie pony custom.

It was traumatizing.

I always open my G1s, and I accidentally got too rough once with my Peach Blossom. I ripped the plastic clear up to the hair plugs! :yikes: I haven't a clue what to do with her now, but at least I have another nicer Peach Blossom.

A Peach Blossom whose neck plug snapped clear off and needed to be super glued back together.

I'm such a loser.

My little cousin (she's 5) got ahold of my absolutely perfect Tux n' Tails with perfect factory curls and took him "for a swim." :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:
and my almost bait piggy, when I took the seal of her neck cause she was nasty inside, a chunk of her neck came off and the rest came off normal
:yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

Ooh, here's a mistake for you. I found a bunch of G1 ponies in a thrift shop recently, 25-50 cents apiece. I thought Tropical Sea Breeze had tail rust because it looked so dark at the base, and wrestled with her head trying to get it off. Ended up with a little hole in her neck where the soft plastic had just given up against me. If that wasn't bad enough, when I was wrestling with her tail washer to get her tail out, I tore her all along the base of her wing. I felt pretty bad at the time, tearing a pony up like that. She didn't even have tail rust!

Another one: I bought a Firefly a week or so back. When I got her I could see that there was black rust inside her hooves, so I popped her open. It looks like the rust was mostly removed, but not scrubbed out? Tossed her in an oxy clean bath for a few hours without thinking about her glitter symbols... They're really splotchy now. I still feel guilty. I don't think it even took care of any of the residual rust.

Ohhh that thing about the tail rust reminds me of something that I did when I was still new to ponies!

I got a Bunny Hop from a friend of mine and she was one of my first G1s, but I didn't know a thing about the fading pink hair. I thought that her hair was supposed to be white because it looked so stunning the way it was and when I opened her out to clean her, she did have some rust problems. (All of them that I got from this friend did.) Well, there was a spot on her tail that was still pink and my first thought was "oh, it's rust stains, and apparently toothpaste will help. SCRUB!" Big mistake. Her once silky tail is now really frizzy. :yikes:

Not to mention that during cleaning, I accidentally snapped the hat right off of her body.

Oh well... live and learn, I guess.

Don't have a pic but I once baked a pony I had sculpted things on. I forgot to put a protection paper under her, I melted the bottom of her hooves on the "pony special" cooking pan :s She's still fine though! It's only visible if you turn her over ^^
