I use a box I made of foamcore and covered in fabric and rocks back when I started collecting G3s. I need to update it to better provide good lighting. It's big enough for a good number of ponies but needs better podiums for display.

Sorry guys I was out all day yesterday with my sister and had no time to reply. These are great ideas, thanks heaps. I'll show how I photographed a couple of my ponies I've tried a few different ways.

When I can sign into photobucket -_-

For my sales I use G1 bedding as the backdrop. For my collection pics I take the ponies outside and find a nice spot with some garden in the background :)

Sometimes I use the backgrounds from the packaging of the ponies. I keep them all, just in case.

Other times, I use the great outdoors! (Which can be tricky to get scale just right)

I use white poster board from dollar tree.

To get the a background pure white I have to edit it though. Usually adjusting the levels is enough. I want to get a light tent sometime though.

Without editing the backgrounds turn out something like this:

I use scrap fabric I get from Walmart or Hobby Lobby.. but that is for my light box..

For my non-light box stuff I use a blanket or whatever I can find big enough for what I'm taking a photo of

Blanket (non-light box)

T-Shirt (non-light box)

Cardstock (non-light box, I actually have a whole roll of drawing paper I can use except it never cooperates)

Scrap Fabric (light box, note the tone of the fabric does seem to change... that is due to the lighting for some reason even though the same light source it used... it might also be the light box)

I'll use all kinds of things, but sheets of fabric are common and for smaller ponies I like to use the backing from G4 toys, which have some nice pictures on them! :) My other favorite place to photograph is the railing of my porch when the weather is nice. Plenty of sunshine really brings out a pony's beauty!
