Pony Corral / Re: G5 Media News, movie is now out on Netflix!
« on: October 11, 2021, 03:28:47 PM »
The whole angry mob thing kind of went over my head and then came back around when I thought about it more. (Now that I'm much older watching cartoons like GI Joe rings so differently, there were so many real life news issues in 80's shows.)
Although real life aside, Sprout sort of reminded me of Big Mac (maybe a far branch of their family?). I have hopes he will turn over a new leaf and be a member of the main cast in time.
I also like the idea of G5 being a series of movies, but if it gets a tv show it may be on Netflix the way they did with Trolls. I think G4 will be in reruns for a while yet...
I sort of miss when live tv was where you first saw new cartoons if only because whole seasons being put out at once can be hard not to watch so quickly :lookround:

Milk no question, but I also like white (even if it's not 'real' chocolate) especially paired with vanilla  (which I can hardly ever find, if anyone has any they can point me toward?).
The winning pairing with milk chocolate for me is peanut butter most of all my favorite Halloween candy (that has gotten pretty rare) Balmer's Creepy Peepers :3

Off Topic / Re: PBS Arthur Series to end after 25 years
« on: October 09, 2021, 12:10:20 PM »
It is so weird to think there won't have any new episodes after 2022. It did have a very good run, although I was in middle school when it started in 1996 I did watch it off and on and still do now and then. It's nice kids still have shows like it even if it will only be in reruns from now on.

I remember the book Arthur's Birthday being all the buzz when I was just starting school. While the tv show has been around 25 years it is amazing to think Arthur books themselves are now 45 years old too  :whoa:

Sunny Daze :). It was such a fun feeling seeing ponies back in the world after G2 was only in the US for such a short time.

Oh yes, for sure Sunny's orange could have been paired with something besides pink. A dark blue would be very pretty colorwheel-wise. Berry Bright is actually my favorite G2 so in my head I was picturing a version where she was the main character, and Izzy was G1 Frizzy .
You guys are right it will most likely be for little kids of course. If there is a series (I forget where I heard the rumor of there being one set for 2022. The internet is so full of info nowadays it's hard to tell it all apart. :yikes:) I picture it being very MLP Tales with maybe some G4-ish monsters? It would be interesting if they brought back the G1 villains with a dark tone contrasted by Tales everyday life episodes. I really enjoyed the everyday themes of Tales when I was in grade school but wished they'd kept the magic stakes too. Time will tell...

I just got the tiny Sunny with her crystal and rollerstakes today from Walmart in the mail. I was hoping the skates had actual working wheels  but no luck. I really like the transparent molded hair more than I thought I would . It also comes with a nifty little poster and stickers which is always nice.

I liked the movie, it seemed to be working hard to be less one note in its characters than G4. Not to say G4 was flat, but you could boil them down to one part of themselves very easily for a plot. I feel like the G5 cast has more depth if they want to go into that...
(Did anyone feel like G5 is going to be aimed at older kids this time? It could be just the tone of the movie. Not that being aimed at very little ones is a bad thing, I hope it gets new fans for generations to come)

Orange being my favorite color I really like Sunny out of the gate for finally bringing a less common MLP color to the main cast. I look forward to learning more about her :). It's my G1 bias showing but I think they missed a big chance by not giving Izzy a more contrasting purple coat color to make her pop next to Pipp's very similar pink (Of course now that I think of it, Izzy could easily be a great grandchild of Buttons, and Pipp of medley or North Star).

On the overall look of G5 I'm getting use to it, they remind me of G2 in a few ways in the body types. Maybe this is a way for The Big H to give G2 a series of sorts? I just got one of the toys and I have high hopes.
So far Pipp is my favorite supporting character. While the logical, very grown up part of me knows that her golden hoofs are most likely nail polish the fangirl in me is hoping for a Golden Horseshoes revisited storyline. Only time will tell...
I agree the symbols seem really tiny and faded, almost an afterthought.
Maybe there will be a story there? Finding what you were meant to do as a pony was such a big part of G4 with the symbol link it seems a shame to drop it.
(Unless G5 is like G1 and it is more linked to their names?)

I kind of wish they had made a sort of one of a kind in-between teenager style head like the G1 SHS for him and the other teen students but I really love his symbols and character in the show

Pony Corral / Re: "Natural" Colours on a Pony
« on: November 28, 2018, 06:43:24 PM »
I love the idea of natural colored ponies but I also love the idea of mixing real world pony marks and coat patterns with the neon MLP colors. I've seen pictures of the G4 characters  from a semi-reboot of the series with different real coat patterns around in fandom but I'm not sure if they are real or fan made?

I only saw this once when I was very little, up until it was in re-runs I thought I dreamt it (that and the Rainbow Brite Beginning Of Rainbowland movie). I think it was because of this I always had the villains when I played ponies tie up captured ponies as their grand scale evil plan.
Many say how G1 MLP was all sweetness and light, but all the bigger storylines from the cartoon were pretty dark looking back...

I wished that the Rainbow Of Light was given more backstory later on because it was so powerful and a big part of the early cartoons.
Bowtie was my favorite from Midnight Castle, and I like to think Twilight adopted Ember :)

Thank you, someday I hope to get nearer to the painted style of the 80's backcards if I can, that's my dream goal :D
I think I'll just add on new drawings as reply posts then, seems simpler :)
