Title: AliExpress- help received! Thanks!
Post by: Aadra310 on January 03, 2018, 02:25:19 PM
UPDATE:  HELP RECEIVED!  THANKS, ARENA!!!

Hey all!  I want to buy this Sailor Moon diamond picture thing for my sister in law from AliExpress (link in spoiler).  I don't know anything about the website/company and I'm honestly not comfortable with providing my credit card information.  If someone has some good feedback here, an account there, and is willing to buy it, I'd pay you $20 (you would make $5.95!).

Could someone explain to me how to go about getting an account on Aliexpress and how it works?  Explain it like I am 5, lol, because the last I tried to understand I never quite wrapped my brain around it.

I don't remember exactly how I signed up, but I think it was the typical "enter your email and build a profile" thing.  You can pay by credit card or by Paypal.

Shipping is usually very cheap but it takes items pretty long to arrive.  (Weeks.)   If you are buying toys and you want the packaging, it is a good idea to tell the seller that--sometimes they will take them out of the packaging to save on shipping.

The sellers I've dealt with have been very friendly and answered my questions quickly, although they don't speak English well so sometimes either they don't understand me or I don't understand them.  But for the most part it's not bad.

I have used the site quite a number of times, but so far I wasn't able to pay with PayPal, only the credit card comes up as an option - is that a new or restricted thing?

Not sure, as I only started using the site quite recently.  I just know it comes up as an option at checkout.  (Maybe it depends on the seller?)

Yes, probably. And knowing my bad luck it's no wonder I've never come across one that accepts it XD
But I'm rather happy they finally decided to bring this option in too, and I hope more and more sellers will offer it as an option in the future. I've never had any issues using my credit card there in the past, but when it comes to a refund and there is some other twist (like a refund not taking place as part of a dispute - e.g. in case of a resend where buyer protection is expired, or in case of a dysfunctioning/broken item that dysfunctions or breaks shortly after the transaction is considered finished), that can be a pain in the bum to negotiate (and usually does not have a sufficient outcome). Whenever I was in such a situation I always wished I had the option to pay with PayPal.
