MLP Nirvana / Re: New Mexican Variant or a Rehair?
« on: February 26, 2014, 06:26:38 AM »
Hi all - my sister pointed me to this thread :)

I just wanted to say that they were my Mexican ponies. I'm glad to see an Arena member bought them. I originally bought them myself on eBay a few years ago and I don't know a lot about them. They arrived as a pair and when it came to re-selling them, I did describe them as bait, and I hope the photos portrayed their flaws. They are sadly... Awful. Poor things! I didn't want to risk damaging them any further as I'm not an expert in restoration, so I never removed their heads. I genuinely didn't know about any internal condition.

I hope you can make them pretty again and will be loved in your collection.

The Glass Princess has the most notable terrible quality in animation for me.

I'd never seen the later parts of it in my childhood - the VHS I had didn't have all of it on :( In my childhood I actually thought that it didn't exist, and used to imagine how it ended. When I was about 15 (before Youtube was popular!) I found a VHS tape at a car boot with the full thing on. I was SO excited to watch it... and my God, I was so disappointed!

I'm sure it was mostly because I didn't have my childhood rose-tinted glasses on, but the voices all just sounded off, and the animation seriously dropped.

As some of you know, I'm selling off all my toy collections, including my Littlest Pet Shops due to various circumstances. Everything I have will be listed up in my eBay store. A lot of items I have will be boxed in UK / EU packaging, and most sets are near complete if not complete.

Feel free to submit best offers - no reasonable offer is refused! Postage will also be combined for you where possible. If you'd like a postage quote, feel free to send me a message. eBay is the best place to contact me as I check that site daily.

My sister had this one as a child, so it was very important for me to recollect this girl. She's gorgeous!

Pony Corral / Re: Whoa, now that's good packing!
« on: May 10, 2013, 02:15:47 AM »
I have had my fair share of NIGHTMARE packages.

1. Paradise Estate, boxed. Seller just wrote my name and address ON THE BOX and sealed it with icky brown tape D:
2. Brazillian Twist complete with backcard and bubble (she had been slipped out of her packaging, it was otherwise okay) only in a padded envelope. Was also covered in fag ash.
3. Ponies sent in carrier bags, so their little heads were peaking through the packaging like something out of Alien. WHY?!

I have the perfect picture ideas. Now only to go into the loft and retrieve the accessories...

Pony Corral / Re: Your idea of pony heaven... Or pony hell?
« on: May 09, 2013, 04:35:30 AM »
It was total hell ; ^ ; Luckily there appeared to be no more insects as I went through the pile, unlike I first feared. They just all need a bit of a brush and a love after being hidden away for 5 months. At one point I got worried because Baby Liquorice's hair slide had disappeared, to only find half an hour later that Minty was fashioning it! Naughty Minty...

I only managed to box away around 150 ponies. Still a massive pile to go. It was nice to be able to handle them all again, though. Just a shame there is no room to display.

---

Also thank you for your comments about the plastic bags! I've popped them inside them just to keep them together with their accessories, but have left them open so they can breathe.  :hot: <- don't want them to be like that!

Pony Corral / Your idea of pony heaven... Or pony hell?
« on: May 08, 2013, 08:59:37 AM »
Since moving back home, I got fed up of my ponies living in the loft, so I bought a few under bed storage boxes so I can access them whenever I want. I have to organise and box up all of these guys...

But whilst taking them out - I noticed some of them have got a bit grubby, and I saw a couple of small insects in the boxes.  :cloud: So I'm going to have to inspect them all, clean them, and put them in individual zip lock bags.

Is this your idea of pony heaven, or hell?

Pony Brag Arena / Re: This week's thrifting finds!
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:34:34 AM »
Congrats on your finds!

The cats are known as the Macavity Cat Family in the UK, but over in the US/Canada they're called the Caramel Cat Family. Both sets of the main family are virtually identical. Here is a picture of what the complete family should look like :-) (these are the US Calico Critter versions - the babies are in a different pose in the UK)

Hope that helped a little!

Thanks Pangel! Are they newer or are they vintage? Everything that was put out around them was older, so I thought maybe they were, too :)

They were originally released in 2001 in Japan, and 2002 in the UK. I'm not sure on US release dates as I don't tend to collect the Calico Critters line unless they're unique / markedly different to the UK and Japanese ones. The family is no longer available in the UK, however a new 'celebration' pack was released including new family members to celebrate their tenth anniversary. I don't have a photograph of mine, so here is a little stock image:

Grandparent figures were also released as part of the UK collector's club, as well as in Japan. Both versions are becoming hard to find.

Off Topic / Re: Shall we try a PM-pal "matchmaking" thread?

Age: 24, nearly 25
My best language is: (and only) English
I wouldn't mind trying to communicate in this second language: [if any] Uhmm... ;__; I'd love to... But I only know English... American English? That count? :3
Gender: Female
Location: Sheffield, UK
Occupation: Self-employed. I work two jobs, run my dad's business by day, and do SEO by night. Would ideally like a third job, too!
What aspect of MLP I'm into (e.g., customizing, collecting, drawing, etc): Collecting namely. I love all generations but only actively collect G1 and G4.
Other collections: I love ALL vintage toys, but I have Sylvanian Families, G1 Littlest Pet Shop, and I really like Monster High dolls (only have a couple)
My favorite music: Japanese stuff. I have very little in the way of Western music on my iPod.
My favorite movies: Ooo! I love all genres, depends on my mood. But I love animated films the most.
My favorite books: More of a comics and manga kinda gal. Trying to get into reading... So far failing. Maybe you can all help recommend some books for me? I've never read Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings :O What am I missing?!

Describing myself:
HUMAN VERSION OF PINKIE PIE. Yeah, I'm pretty outgoing and stupid. Love doing and trying new things. Sincere, honest, and full of beans. The biggest joy in my life is making other people happy. I wear my heart on my sleeve and because of that I feel the highest of highs, and sometimes the lowest of lows. Seems to be no middle ground, though I'm working on that :D

I split up from my fiance of six years at Christmas, and had to move back home. The adjustment has been hard. I no longer have a pony room. My possessions are in boxes. Hoping one day to get my own place when finances are more secure. Keepin' the faith!

In my spare time I try and socialise as much as possible. I like to be surrounded by people. I love watching anime, cinema and film, pony hunting, going for walks, playing with toys, doodling, baking, real ale, video games... MANY interests! ^_^

Other interesting things about me:
I've been to China; I worked there at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
I have two pet rabbits called Fudge and Brian Blessed
Definately cannot lick my elbow

What kind of PM pal are you interested in?
I have friends, but truthfully, I still find that I'm quite lonely. Especially in the evenings. So I'm looking for true friend(s)! Someone to fire silly PMs to, talk about really stupid silly things, and share life experiences. I'd love someone to exchange packages with, I've never done a swap!
