It's probably about time that the collectors went on social media en masse and shared with Basic Fun how much we are loving these and would they please make more?  ;)

What are their social media accounts? I'm more than happy to share how much I am loving these!

Post Merge: December 22, 2018, 09:25:13 AM

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if they're going to be releasing any more 35th anniversary ponies in 2019 even though it's not the 35th anniversary any more?
I'm hoping to find the ponies I still need, which is all of the Pegasus and unicorns. I'd be ecstatic to find Firefly and Moondancer if no one else.

I love that your sig says My Little Pony and pictures a purple raptor.

Thanks. The original Cheshire Cat colors went best with the My Little Pony theme than the newer colors of green and teal.

Just got the second wave Rainbow Scented Ponies. And the Pretty Parlor. I wasn't one for playsets back in the 80s and this Pretty Parlor is the first one I've ever gotten. Tbh, I just care about the ponies and collecting them. If the set has a special pony in it, I will probably get it as I did the Parlor.  I'll have to take a close look at the ponies themselves once I have them in hand (Hubby is in the US and got them while I'm in Mexico) to see if there is any discoloration or other defects that people are reporting.

No third wave ponies in stock anywhere, but I created a notification on Brickseek for one pony and figured if they get her in stock, the others will be there as well.

Pony Brag Arena / Savers Pony Find
« on: August 01, 2018, 06:08:35 PM »
My husband went to the US for a week on his own to work on a computer crisis and stopped at Savers on one of his outtings. As is the norm, he swing by the toy section, even though I wasn't there and I'm the one who likes to swing by. He sends me a picture on WhatsApp of a small bag of popcorn is and a audio message following asking if any of them were the correct pony (any G1 and G3 ponies). It looked to me that one of them were and so I told him to buy that bag.

A minute later he sends another audio message saying he found more. I ask if they have any resemblance to the ones I told him to buy and his response was a flurry of pictures, each showing a different bag of ponies.

Some I didn't want as they were nothing but Fakies and after a couple of minutes try to explain that I didn't want the hot pink one, I got a lengthy video in return. He held up each bag and gave it a number then told me to tell him which numbers I wanted.

In the end he spent $20 on just ponies at $2.99 a bag. I didn't have him get them all either. It figures that any time I go up, there's hardly a pony to be found. But my husband goes up and he hits the mother load.

So without further ado, my 18 new ponies!

And yes, I about jumped on the bed when I found a G1 hiding in one of the bags.

I watched the Star Trek, Transformers and Hello Kitty episodes last night and it was so cool seeing the history of all of them.   I've got my fingers crossed for MLP next season :)

Is there going to be a season three? The opening credits song says it a 8 part documentary series and they sort of done that....

I was REALLY hoping for MLP as well.

:soapbox pony:
*Ahem*

I absolutely without question HATE the G2's and current run of MLP.  :enraged:
As in Cannot. Stand. Them.

The G2s look like snakes with legs. The newest ones from 2009 and later look like someone took an air compressor and stuck it in their ears then forgot to turn it off. I mean WTAF????

Their is a good reason they are called My Little PONY. Not My Little Snake with Legs, or My Little Air/Bubble Head.

I fell in love with the line because I could not afford an actual horse and I love them so very much (still do, still cannot afford one). WTF am I to do with a "pony" that looks NOTHING like an actual pony? Why do you think Breyers were/are so damn popular?

Talk about unrealistic expectations! Hopefully kids don't believe horses have huge bulbous heads that a real animal would NEVER be able to hold up.

*jumps off soapbox*

For anyone who didn't catch my last post about finding three of the 35th anniversary ponies at my local Target, the post is over here if you wish to read it first.

I am back in the US and managed to go to a different Target then I had done last time and found the last three ponies I needed to complete the set. Interestingly enough there was only the three I still needed and Blue Bell whom I got last time. Now wave one is complete. And I did pick up Blue Belle again as well. Didn't want to leave her all alone!

Again, some observations; Only three of the set can turn their heads. Funny enough it is the first three I found (Blue Belle, Blossom, and Cotton Candy). Was this the same for the originals when they came out? When I first looked at the combs I thought they were all the same color, but seeing the combs of the other three that is not actually the case. Each one is of a different color that goes with the pony itself in some way; Blue Belle's is blue-ish, Minty's is green, Butterscotch's should have been orange...

I discovered this time around that the plastic thing they put on the manes can be pulled apart for a much easier removal. The first time I carefully pulled the hair out of it. I wish the mini posters were of the pony it came with on one side and then the group one on the other. Would have made for a brilliant frame opportunity. I would have put each wave together in a large frame to hang on the wall. Again, I wish they packaged them like they did the originals. At least have the pony's story on the back as many of us do not remember what those stories are and of course would never have saved the cards...although I am certain some did.

I cannot find a date for the Rainbow Ponies release, thought I read June somewhere, but one site said it is July and Webhallen now lists it for Christmas 2018. I am really hoping it'll be June as I'll be in the US at that time. And I have a small feeling that they'll be really hard to find around Christmas time.

I am on the fence about getting the playset. I'm not one for playsets, but there are original ponies usually in them. I'm more for collecting the ponies than all the additional items. I think in all honesty, it will depend on the price of the playset, if I find one as well as how I am feeling at that moment.

A big part of me wants to buy it and sell it as I know many cannot find any of these or they aren't being released in their country. I think that's the real reason I picked up the extra Blue Belle. She's still in her box and sitting on the shelf.
I just took a look at eBay in regards to these ponies and people are mean greedy! $16.99 for the pony and $20 for shipping from Ohio? Come on! Of course there were better priced ones listed thankfully but it still horrible to see such greed.

Thanks! I'll be going back to the US next week and am still going to keep an eye out for the other three.

I can't help but check the shelves here in Mexico to see if by chance they "magically" show up. I keep hoping because that would be fantastic in so many MANY ways.

I cannot wait to get a 35th Year Moondancer and Firefly. Pardon the pun, but I would most defiantly be over the moon!

I do love the feeling. It's addicting but it's like wrapping comfort around you and feeling like the world is okay, even if it's just a short while and you do have to get back to adulting stuff. Hell, I still get excited when I find 2000 era ponies! I just found a MUCH loved Yesterdaisy at the weekly flea market today and am thrilled.

Went to Target today after getting back into the US since January and I was quite skeptical but I had to look.

I felt a slight disappointment when all I saw were the newer versions and so I wandered away from the aisle. I looked at Legos and a few game board games. I don't know about any of you, but I always check out the end caps for clearance.

I now cannot remember what I was looking at when I saw her. Purple with her white flowers. I swear in one gasp I sucked in all the air around me and I reached down and picked her up. Then I saw a teal with purple stars and then a pink with white spots!

With only three ponies in front of me I was over the moon. I was thrilled, excited and of course looked around the are a little more to see if there were anyone else hiding about.

But no.

Just the three ladies on the shelf, where the label said they would be. MLP 35th Anniversary 9.99, On an end cap. With clearance toys, but not on clearance.

It was a very strange moment to be honest as I do not ever remember seeing a pony in package that I was the first owner of. Even when I was a kid. We all know that things came out of packages as fast as the packaging would allow when we were kids.

Finished shopping, came home, did the adult things, i.e. put the groceries away, made dinner, fed the dogs; THEN I sat my butt down and opened Blue Belle. Carefully removed the tape from the top, pulled out Blue Belle and popped her out and had to untape her mane from the plastic and then with her free, had to carefully figure out how to get her mane out that plastic piece. Popped out the comb and then spent a couple of minutes pulling her hair free of the other hair holes and brushing it out. Put the plastic back into the box. Then it was Blossom's turn. Same thing but I left her comb in the box and used Blue Belle's comb, they all look exactly the same upon first glance. And of course I pulled out the poster to look at. Then of course I had to unbox Cotton Candy and repeat the actions.

So all three of them are sitting on my desk looking quite sweet and smelling like plastic toys.

I have noticed a few things; their heads move, you cannot untie the ribbon on their tails (THANK GOD!) and they all have the number 36117ZD on their right front hoof under the stamped words My Little Pony. This number however is not stamped on and could in time be worn away. The other hooves have stamped on them The Bridge Direct, Made in China and @2017 Hasbro.

Hubby is working on finding out if we can find the other three girls. He did find information on the next wave of retros (https://www.mlpmerch.com/2018/01/second-wave-of-35th-anniversary-g1.html) that are coming out in July. I'll be back in the US for the 4th, but I am sure these gals will release much later than the 4th.

I'm really excited to get these new ones that are coming out as well and hope there are some left for when I can pick them up when I'm back here.

I know I'm late in the Retro game here, but I don't mind.

Greetings!

I have a very soft spot for Firefly as I have my original plush Firefly who traveled with me everywhere. I even have a picture of her with me at Old Faithful!
Now that I'm thinking about it, I have a picture of me with Moondancer as well..........

Welcome! I'm still new here myself, but thought I'd drop by with the welcome wagon!

:frolic:
I just :cheer: over this post quite loudly making my husband jump and look at me. I have informed him that I will be spending $60 soon at Target and he smiled and dared me to spend that little.

Any idea when these will be rolling out?

 :gallop:

The 35th anniversary collectors ponies? They've been out since January!

I've been reading from the first post. Haven't been in the loop for the longest time and hope there are still some come later this month when I go back up!

Wow. I have NEVER seen a fake this good! She also, as you can see has nothing stamped on her feet and there are no Family Dollars in Mexico.

Glad to know she lights up! I'm excited to see if she still works.

Thank you for the information. This also means I'm free to rehair and maybe get her a cutie mark! Maybe I'll see if I can turn her into a Cheshire Pony.

Pony Corral / Pony ID Needed!

Greetings pony lovers!

I need your help. I found a pony that I am almost 100% sure is a official MLP but I cannot find a single thing on it. Of course it could very well be a really REALLY good fake. She reminds me of Thistle Whistle.

A little background: Found this gal at a swap meet type of deal in Mexico. She has no cutie mark, but she does have a heart and music note on her hoof like Silver Song. She does have mechanics inside the body. I believe she lights up but I haven't replaced the battery to see what she does. I've put the pictures below the spoilers so please take a look and give me some thoughts! You can click on the picture for the full sized image.

Here she is. No, not Cotton Candy, she's there for size comparison. Yeah, this is an unusually large pony.

I moved Cotton so you can see the mystery girl a bit better. Yes, she's had a tail and possible mane cut  but you can see she's a light pink Pegasus with pink and yellow hair that has tinsel through it.

Here's a close up of her hocks. As you can see there is no cutie mark (that is what they are still called correct?). No signs that one ever existed either. The thin lines you might be able to see are strands of pony hair from her tail.

Here's the hoof heart. I know the picture is awfully blurry. I do apologize about that.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

She has the typical MLP eyes, and they have no marks or rubs on them at all.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Here's the non-display side. I know she may look really dirty or marked but she really isn't.

Face front.

Full frontal. The dark parts are the wires running through her neck from the front right leg.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Pony tooshie. I know, what remains of her hair needs to be tamed. Might see if it's possible to rehair her tail at least.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Underbelly and hooves. This is obviously where the batteries will go once I get in there. It takes a couple of watch batteries it looks like. Or the button batteries....I may have some laying around, I'll have to find them or buy some to see if I can make her work.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I removed the window block so you can see where the dark smudges come from. She has wires that run from her belly down her right front leg and up to her head. There is also one that runs to her belly that has a light bulb at the end so I figure she lights up.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Another shot of her wire shadows. Of course Cotton had to jump back into the fun.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I have carefully pulled her head off enough to look down her neck and at the hardware inside. There seems to be a trigger on the mechanism that runs down her leg to turn on and off her ability. But until I buy/find batteries I can only assume she lights up.

If you have any questions or need better pictures or want to see a particular part, let me know. If I have managed to cock things up about the placement of this post, please let me know and re-home it. Or tell me where it needs to go.

I cannot wait to see what you guys say and even if she is a remarkable fake, I still am excited to get a couple of batteries and see if she still works!
