My G1 Applejack's head is lose
« on: March 09, 2012, 05:24:17 PM »
I decided to clean some of my old ponies, so when I was cleaning my G1 Applejack her head was lose as her neck seam.  What should I do?

No need to do anything! Just leave it as is. Or actually, did you pop her head off and check inside for rust or mold or anything else? If not, I recommend it. It won't hurt her. I also recommend you do not glue it back on!

I just pop her head off a bit and she looked fine on the inside.  So don't glue it back on?

Nope, about 80% of collectors could care less if the neck seam is intact or not.  :)  I think all of us would rather have a pony we are SURE has no mold or rust inside them instead of a perfectly sealed pony that could be harboring internal pestilence!

Not to mention it makes it easier for the washer to be replaced in case of tail rust. I remove the washers on all my ponies, though.
...And most of the time they have the starts of tail rust. :(

I glue mine back on.  I line up the neck seams and use superglue.

It's totally up to you though.

I take mine apart on purpose to clean the insides and then I do not glue back on. The neck should have a tiny little line indent so you can line it up as its supposed to look and it isn't going to spin around like Linda Blair on its own. Its nice to be able to open ponies up without hurting them should their plastic start breaking down or they get wet and you want to be able to dry their insides quickly so nothing nasty forms. Boo to glue.

Yes I would say it is completely up to you...glue it back on or leave it...personally I would leave it as there is no difference to most collectors...but thats the joy of collecting we all have our own tastes!

I absolutely agree with this.

I leave all of mine loose. Who knows if they will need cleaned inside in another 10 years? I'd rather not fight super glue with the arthritis I'll have in my hands then. LOL
