So my daughter and I had to go to Target last Friday to pick up a birthday gift for my partner (headphones, nothing Pony-related...) Well she had been so good all day while we ran our errands and so good at keeping the secrets of the surprise party from him (5 is a hard age to keep something to yourself, haha!) so I told her that yes, she could get a toy as a reward. We head over to the toy aisle and she goes up the first aisle, comments on every Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man, talking about each thing she is interested in to try and make her mind up. We go down the next aisle and it is all Barbie and various dolls, which she isn't really interested in. Then we round a back side end cap and she stops and shouts "MAMA!!! THEY HAVE PONIES!!! THEY HAVE OLD TIME PONIES IN BOXES!!!" I wasn't even thinking about it, our Target had never had them before that I saw (but I only go to Target a few times a year). They had 3 Confettis, a Trickles, a Tickle, a Pinwheel, a Flutterbye, and a G3 Applejack all at eye level of my small human! She was so pleased, we went through and looked at each one and she chose Flutterbye to come home with us. She said Flutterbye was so glad we were able to come and adopt her because she had been waiting a long time in the pony orphanage and now she has a family So we took her home and she is so pretty! Her rainbow hair is different than the other rainbow rereleases, it has a lot of orange and suits her so well. She is also in a different pose than the other pegasi so that is always nice. ... On a side note, does anyone else have an issue with the tails of the retros not being glued in? It seems like ours are all loose and can be pushed down inside the pony if you are not careful, and they spin. We have Bowtie, Windy, Moonstone, Starshine, Skydancer, Parasol, and now Flutterbye and it seems they are all like that. Are they not attached inside?

So as a child I lived with my grandparents, who only watched Andy Griffith and the news. I was always excited to sleep over at my cousin's house because we would stay up late and they had a VCR!!! If I recall correctly she had Rescue at Midnight Castle and also The Movie. My favorites were the flying ponies, I love both the pegasus and flutter ponies! I also like Megan because, like others have mentioned, she made it relatable for us and we wanted to be taken on adventures with the ponies like she was. I only had one pony growing up, Bowtie, but she was in Rescue so that was super cool to me! My cousin had way more of the ponies (and even a flutter pony!) and I may have been a bit jealous. She also got to watch the show on Saturday mornings all the time, I would watch it when I slept over and she would fill me in on what happened before in the story, because you know they were always so short that they had several episodes just for one story. The thing was, yes it was colorful singing ponies, but it had monsters and witches and demons and all kinds of adventure so it wasn't, to me, a girly tea-party kind of show. As an adult with a child who now loves all thing Pony (and her favorites are the 'old time ponies', as she calls them ) we have discovered that the Tubi tv app has the entire original series on there (not in order, but still!) And papa did get her The Movie on the Amazon Prime app because it was on sale for like $2. We have watched all of them several times and she gets so excited when a pony that we have comes on the screen (although none have Windy, who is her favorite favorite). Tales is also on Tubi as well as the Starz app (there along with several G3 movies that we have watched!) I have not watched Tales but my partner watched it with her. From the original show, I will say that Wind Whistler is my favorite, along with Shady and North Star. My least favorites are probably Gusty, Heart Throb, and the first tooth ponies. I also love that the Sea ponies have to sing every single time they come on screen!!! I sing along with them every time! It annoys the heck out of my family but I love it, haha! They need to remake the Sea Ponies as a retro remake so we can buy them and play with them! I would sneak them around the house and make them sing at people...

We have this Cupcake, she likes to help put in the kitchen and B says that original Cupcake (she knows her from the G1 cartoon) is her mama I think they are both pretty.

Dakota, I love Bing Crosby! And I had thought of that as well, the first one is the one we have and I love her Celtic inspired swirls.
The second one seemed like a reboot of Fingerpaint to me? Like they took her and put her in the reboot show and gave her Toola's name? Like how around the same time Cheerilee was originally a unicorn and then became an Earth pony that looked just like Cherry Blossom.

I just saw this so am probably a little late, but are they like children's storybooks? If so, I would definitely want them! My daughter wants pony stories, and the G3 are her favorites!

It is Hasbro, that was just my Amazon search result when I typed in 'My Little Pony Retro'. I was looking for where I had seen the upside down Applejack. Sorry for the confusion!

If the G4 glitter hair is like the G3 tinsel hair, run it under hot hot water before you comb it. It helps to keep the tinsel fly-aways under control and helps to generally shape the hair. Then like TeaLeaf said, conditioner! I use a comb with 2 different sizes of teeth gaps, start with the comb with more space between the teeth and start the end doing a little bit at a time. Once the big teeth go through smoothly, use the finer toothed comb to do the same thing. It keeps from pulling the hair out and from causing knots/making them worse.

Oh my gosh, that link was so unexpected!!! Thanks for the warning, I would've ended up with giant mutant Gumzillaa. It was such a well documented experiment! And thanks for the tips, I will try the dry erase marker, the peroxide, and the tea tree oil on different colors for their effectiveness! I have had some success so far, Peach Blossom had huge blue flowers on her but they are almost completely off, just some very faint ghost marks, and Glitter Glide had just a bit that came off with medium scrubbing and she now looks like new! The blue does not come off of everyone so easily, though. Magic Marigold has large stars all over her that are much lighter than when we started but seem to be stubbornly hanging on, they are still very noticeable, and Scootaloo's blue is about the same. And none of the other colors would even budge, so many ponies are still a hot mess! On a side note, I also made new wings for the Breezies out of spare ribbon (they had no wings when we got them), and my little lady is so pleased!!! Lily Lightly not only is clean but also has lovely ringlets now instead of a pile of frizz, but her batteries were corroded in her so she does not light up even after a battery change. But she does blink, so Miss B is thrilled! So far she says Flower Garland is her favorite of the rescue ponies we have cleaned up. I work all day again today and have a cold, so we will see if I can muster up some energy to scrub ponies when I get home...

I had noticed that some G3s had much thinner tails than others, (and some are my favorite ponies!) and I knew they hadn't had hair pulled out or anything. This kind of answers it, I knew some were coming from the factory thinner but couldn't figure out how or why (I've never taken mine apart.)

She is cute! The cat picture is a bit of a weird choice, but I also love cats so... yes!

2003- Wysteria (one of my favorite flowers, colors, and she's just so soft and soothing looking) and yet another vote for Minty because she is so cute in the Donkey pose with her happy little face! 2004- Denim Blue (a recycling pony with gorgeous hair?!?! Yeeeeeees!), Spring Parade because I love her hair color and vibrancy of her flower symbol, and Wondermint who I do not have but want and think she's stunning! 2005- Gardenia Glow and Waterfire (another don't have but *want!*) for their gorgeous contrasts of bright body and hair colors, and new Bowtie because they made her so pretty, and different enough from the old Bowtie to feel like a separate pony and not a replacement (I adore her hair stripes color combination!). 2006- Silver Glow, she's just so stunning overall, and Daffidazey (who I technically now own but she needs a looooot of help) because I love her hair and her 3d flower! 2007- Dream Drifter because I loooove tie-dye, and Daisy Paisley, her paint is just gorgeous! (I have just recieved these ponies along with Daffi and hope to get them in shape!) Also Rainbow Bubbles, who I need, because I love her teapot and I collect teapots! 2008- Valentines Sweetie Belle (who I also need), her purple is soooooooo pretty and deep! I also really do not like the 'makeup' line of ponies this year where their head is just painted in strange ways. 2009-Core friends Rainbow Dash because she gets a fancy pearl necklace with bows! She is so stylish, Darling! I have this version because it seemed so, well, her! Wanted to add that everyone's choices are soooooo good!!! I had to look some up, but definitely have a few new ones to add to the want list!

Oh my gosh, I have a daylight bulb in my room that I use to start seedlings in the winter! I could totally give that a try, it is a hanging bulb that can have its height adjusted so it would be easy to modify a box to sit under it where my plant pots usually go! I would never even have thought of that!!! I think some of them I just can't do that with though, like Silver Mist and Daisy Paisley, because their decorative paint gradient might not fare well. But the poor babies and poor Daffidazey might be my first test, they need help all over! I will take pictures to document my attempts (and probable failings, let's face it, I usually manage to make things worse, lol!) I also did have some luck with some ponies last night. It seems the blue marker comes off of certain colors decently, the others must have been highlighter because they wouldn't budge! And then some of them have decorations that are kinda cute (Sparkleworks has firework lines on her) so they are now our ghetto TAFs, . I will take some pictures later for anyone interested in my progress. Also, has anyone ever tried soaking a whole pony in nail polish remover or peroxide or something to get stains out? I may attempt it with Gumdrop only because with me accidentally taking her symbol off (and smudging one eye ) I really don't have anything to lose. We already have Gumdrop so she is a second, I figure I might as well...

Awwww, Posey is soooooooo pretty and Lickety and Gusty I wants them!!! They are so adorable!!! As a side note that weird upside down world Applejack is already on Amazon in the US. It is available to be delivered in 2 days if ordered now. I remembered seeing it when I was looking for Bowtie for little B. I did also end up getting her the 5 pack of rainbow ponies because they were such a good price, though! They came today and she was thrilled!!!
