The Environmentals have their fans (Dewprincess on this forum is one of the foremost experts on them) but they burn my eyes every time I look at them (I don't and won't collect them).
There was no new cartoon for this batch of bears, they just continued running the '80s DiC and Nelvana series (they didn't even modify the cartoon like Generation 2 Transformers did with the stupid Cybernetic Space Cube). There were, however, books, Valentines, cards, etc. like usual.
They weren't the only Care Bears of the 1990s, as a Midwestern chain called Shopko put out a line of three bears in 1995 (these were not Environmentals) and at the tail end of the decade six beanlings came out (and sold well) which is what really brought them out of hibernation a few years later.
Also, of note, the white bear in the picture isn't America Cares (who didn't come out until the 2002 relaunch of the franchise) but Proud Heart Bear (yes, the reused the name from Proud Heart Cat). There are two different versions - one with an American flag and a rarer Canadian flag variant (only available in the large 36" size).
oh wow, really? i never knew that! you learn something new everyday.

I'm not sure the year/series either. but this toy said 1991 and it was different than any official CB I've ever seen. when my girl first showed me I was like "meh, CB Fakie"... but then I did a double take when I saw it was official!
nope, completely official. they weren't around long and they seem to have been long forgotten over time. out of curiosity, which bear did you happen to find?

yeah, the "g2" of care bears wasn't around for that long. the only two "newish" care bears to be released here were forest friend bar and america cares bear, but if im not mistaken they were already released over in the UK along with the first batch of bears. here's a pics of them all: visitors can't see pics , please register or login(america cares, cheer, love-a-lot, forest friend, share, bedtime, and tenderheart.)

kinda reminds me of the fist time i picked up the crystal motion rainbow dash and fluttershy... i looked on the back of the bock and the wings had a super cool gradient in the picture! but the real toy just had caked on glitter. plus, both of the pictures had the old eye style for fluttershy and RD. weird.

Why oh WHY is she so rare! i love lime green and she has a parrot cutie mark... PLUS she's a twinkle eye pony! those are all my favorite things! i just wish somebody would find some hidden cove of 100000 mimics so she could become common and less pricey. (though id probably faint if i found that... and im sure the collectors who paid hundreds for her would too! ) she is only topped by my love for whizzer. :p

i got her in a lot not too long ago, really nice white condition with great glitter packed symbols... only downside is that the side of her NOT pictured in the auction has a HUGE pink highlighter mark on her hoof. it looks like she has neon nail polish! still, i love her all the same.

YES! thank goodness for living in new jersey. if i can raise the money, this will be the first mlp centered con ill be attending. im just hoping anime next is going to be in july this year... it sucks to choose just one to attend! it'll be cool to maybe see other arena members in the con, and just see such a large gathering of pony people. what kind of panels/events (other than the ones stated in video) are going to be at the con, or is that still being decided?

considering bright lights, somnambula and the glass princess are a few of my favorite g1 episodes, i love a whole bunch of the songs from them. especially the flutter pony song, oh man. ever notice how the flutter ponies are like the ponies air force army? i mean, the whole song is about them riding into victory against a giant cloud wizard. the wonderbolts would probably quake with fear if they had to go up against them. my two favorite g4 songs are "this day aria" and "apples to the core", they're both so catchy! and my favorite g3 song will always be "thats what i love about christmas".

the return of the My Little Mutants... lets just forget about my post on that, shall we? mythical creatures have just always seemed to fit in the mlp universe. we have dragons, hydras, cerberus, vampire (bats), cockatrices, and of course, unicorns and pegasi... why not faeries? i have never met any girl who says she doesnt like SOME mythical monster, and i say faeries just seem RIGHT in mlp. (and by that, i mean pony faeries. ) its girly, its marketable, its cheap! hasbro's FAVORITE criteria. oh, and on the topic of centaurs, i think the closest we will ever get is this guy... visitors can't see pics , please register or login(yay minotaurs!)
