Ponysona art! And a bit of help, please?

I did a cute little sketch of my ponysona, Midnight Mocha~
She loves gummy candies and is often seen sneaking them around and stashing them

I'd also love to put her in my signature- does anyone know how to make this transparent?

I always just use "color to alpha" on GIMP. Or  use iaza.com which has a bunch of tools.

I use the export as GIF on Paint Shop Pro 8. I make sure the settings are just right for the transparency. I don't know if this translates into the program you are using though.
