Price Check Archives / Re: PC NIB Pony Wedding Set?
« on: September 28, 2013, 09:26:37 PM »
It has been out of stores for a while now. It's the blind bag set with Cadance, Shining Armor, and Twilight.

I don't see them very often, and when I do, they're snapped up right away. When I was looking for one, I found it difficult to get, and I paid more than retail for it when I found it. Considering that, I thought they might be worth a little more than just retail, but I could be wrong.

Picked one up at Wal*Mart, and I'm wondering what it's worth since I've not seen one for sale.

If their faces weren't so long, they'd actually be pretty cute.

Poor Muffin pony, that cutie mark is just awful.

As someone who mostly collects G4s, this one.

I'm interested in how this turns out, if you try it. It could be worth trying on a baity pony or something just to see. Then again, I'm really curious, and I buy baits just to do stuff like this sometimes.

Pony Corral / Aurora Plushie Dot Removal
« on: September 18, 2013, 09:46:45 PM »
I really like the Aurora plushies, but I'm not too fond of those little foily dots on some of Pinkie, Applejack, and Fluttershy. So I wondered if it was possible to remove them.

This is what I learned...

* The dots appear to be printed on the fuzzy fabric, on top of the 'fur'.

* They can be pulled off, but not very easily.

* They can be wiped off with a few swipes from a cotton ball with 100% acetone. The first few swipes take off the color, and the next couple take off the glue. This process does not take very long.

* The pattern on my table cover can also be removed with acetone, and it is a bad idea to work on top of it without something to protect it.

* Acetone will also wipe the colored dots off of shimmery fabric that is on the purses, and the other three ponies.

* Acetone will not discolor the fabric, screw up the texture of it, or mess up the color of the embroidery. The fabric was soaked in acetone and allowed to dry, and it still came out just like new!

* The ponies can be machine washed and dried. The machine does not remove the foil dots, screw up the fuzziness of the fabric (washing it a lot might make it less soft, though!) or make the plushie lumpy.

Now for pictures!

(Haha, you can even see the 'clean' spot on my table cover in those pictures. Whoopsie!)

I would want one more if they didn't have the silly funrise hair. :P

Pony Corral / Twinkle Star Lights Rainbow Dash
« on: September 18, 2013, 06:33:50 PM »
I went to TRU today, and was surprised to see something I hadn't even heard about. It's called 'Twinkle Star Lights', and it appears to be the Funrise Rainbow Dash (but lying down) with plastic wings with holes and lights in them.

The box implies that there is/will be a Fluttershy, too, but I didn't see one.

I would have taken pictures, but I didn't have a camera on me. They look and feel just like the Funrise plushies. They seem to be about the same size as a 10in Funrise, but bigger in the body, but don't quote me on that.

Looking to buy a loose Muffins/Bubblebutt from the TRU 2013 collection! I'd like to get it at a decent price without having to buy the whole set.

I'm okay with a less than perfect one, but I'd like to know if she has any flaws before buying. :frog:

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Gift Payments and Seller Fee Etiquette
« on: September 17, 2013, 12:59:32 PM »
I never send the money as a gift. It's not that I'm inherently distrustful, but it is important to me that my purchase is recognized (and covered) by paypal as a purchase. That's the whole point of the system.

Almost everyone I have bought from asked me to cover the paypal fees, and I think that's silly. If they knew exactly how much the fees should be, they should increase their price by that much to compensate, not tell me after I'm already interested in purchasing it at their listed price.

Like others have said, though, I'm happy to cover the fees myself if the seller doesn't make a profit from the transaction. It's just polite to do so, in my opinion. They already went through the trouble of getting and shipping you something, after all.

The worst part of that, to me, is that the fees are not very much to begin with. It seems silly to me to be so particular over 60 cents.

Pony Corral / Re: Aurora Plushie Question

I wonder if some kind of solvent could remove them without completely destroying the fabric. I'm very curious about this. Almost enough to buy a little one to test.
