lol True, the ponies don't typically walk on their hind legs, but their hind legs aren't bonelessly flapping in the breeze either. They must have stiffened the hind legs and put a counterweight in the rear ends of the newer suits...the flapping effect is much less noticable now.

A true quadsuit is even harder to do well. A good one is just spectacular (seriously, look up Beastcub's Arcanine, or Monoyasha's Toothless), but not really practical. They're extremely difficult to wear, and I couldn't imagine trying to do a high-energy performance in one. That being said, challenge accepted! I'm going to attempt one sooner or later.

Back to the original topic, kigurumi is simple to build by comparison and it baffles me how it could go so horribly wrong.

Y'know what?  Yes, I find the fake-face masks reminiscent of early 80s halloween masks, but if those fans built those masks themselves, and had fun doing it, and wanted to wear them to a con, I'm not going to fault them for that.  I don't think it's the best way of going about an Equestria Girls cosplay, but if you're a dude with a beard under the mask, I can see why a false face might be easier than trying to make your own face into a passable rendition of a n EG's.

One wonder how they thought that the kids would think those costumes are real...even if the costumes look similar to what is drawn, its not necissarily the way they would look like in real life. Honestly, a little paint and wigs would have gone much further.
