Hello! I haven't posted in forever so hello to anyone who remembers me from long ago! I have a beautiful, nearly mint Paradise Estate w/ every accessory (including utensils!) + instructions + box (box is not in great shape but nice to see artwork). I may have interest on FB in it for $225, and it would be very easy to get rid of it that way. But I'm wondering if I should just list it on eBay and see what happens? The completed sales for PEs don't include any that were complete; an incomplete one in good shape recently sold for $178. I remember years ago the complete ones were going for $400+, but lately it seems like they aren't pulling in that much. Any thoughts? Obviously eBay would take its cut, so if it likely won't go above $300 then selling in person for $225 might be best.

FYI if anyone is looking to buy, I'm in central Virginia (but will be driving to Georgia tomorrow so could possibly drop it off in places like Greensboro NC, Charlotte NC, Columbia SC).

Thanks for any input!

Hello! I'm looking for G1 CF Minty (no FF) in excellent condition. She does not have to be perfect but close and silky mane and tail are a must. Please send pics with any offers. US sellers only to avoid high shipping costs. i do have a number of G1s (all commons) that are available for trade if looking; please ask for a list.

May also be interested in CF Snuzzle and/or Blue Belle, similar condition.

Also: looking for rainbow shooting star sets for Parasol, Windy, and Starshine--mint or close only. Thanks!

Pony Corral / The current state of the G1 market (esp Paradise Estate)
« on: September 11, 2016, 11:04:42 AM »
Hello! I haven't been spending much time on the boards lately, so I'm sorry if I've missed any similar discussions. I did some selling earlier this year, and in doing that and spending time on eBay, it seemed like prices generally were down. I know there is a lot of flux with many items, and the time of the year *may* have some effect, but things just seem low to me. And some items seem not to be moving at all, even at reasonable prices.

A couple of years ago I bought a Paradise Estate on Craigslist (very exciting for me b/c I always wanted one and never got it!) and it was in very nice shape with the box. At the time PEs that were complete were selling on eBay for $400+, and one I remember went for $600+. I wanted to fill mine out b/c I'm an accessories nut, but I also knew I couldn't keep the PE indefinitely b/c of space, so I there was an added benefit to filling it out b/c I figured I could make more money selling it later. Now I'm seeing that some comparable PEs are sitting for less than $200, and one that is about like mine (but w/o the box) is at $99 with no bids. I know shipping is expensive for this set . . . BUT . . . it's the Paradise Estate! And shipping was expensive two years ago.

Any guidance or perspective from people more in the know is appreciated. I have some more G1s and accessories to sell soon, and it's hardly worth it if they aren't going for much (I'd be more inclined to put them all in a lot). As for the Paradise Estate, can I get a reasonable return on my investment? Those knives etc were a bear to track down!

Thanks! :)

Hello! I'm looking for Skydancer's brush and comb (dark green) and perhaps some purple Rainbow Pony brush/comb sets. Mint/near mint only. I usually charge $3.50 when I sell these sets.

Also looking for CF Butterscotch in excellent condition (must have silky mane and tail)--I'm pretty picky about the coloring of the one I want, so please send a pic if you have one for sale!

Thanks!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Who here loves Shopkins?
« on: March 29, 2016, 07:27:02 PM »
Hello! I don't know if there has been a Shopkins thread b/c the search function isn't working for me right now. So hopefully I'm not repeating a recent thread . . .

I've recently discovered Shopkins: http://www.shopkinsworld.com/

Someone gave two of them to a friend of mine's children . . . and then my friend and I realized we really liked them. We keep buying them "for her children" and indeed they are in their custody but I LOVE picking them out at the store and enjoying the fun of playing with them with the kiddies . . . and they now have almost 100 . . .

Who has been bitten by the Shopkins bug?

I missed Season 1 and 2 entirely. Started buying at the tail end of 3. I'm not interested in "collecting them all," just the ones that we like. Planning on buying some more Season 4 soon if I can find a pack that doesn't have too many of the ones we already have :)

Pony Corral / What pony flaw do you dislike the most? Vote and discuss!
« on: December 13, 2015, 07:37:45 AM »
Hello! I'm cleaning a lot of Craigslist ponies (after going through a pretty yucky lot of eBay ponies), which of course makes me think of which flaws I LEAST like to find in a lot I'm getting.

I guess nothing is worse than brown spots (cancer) for me, but I really really hate haircuts and head/body color mismatch. I'm not a rehairer so if the hair is cut, all is lost for me and it's on to the sale pile.

Any flaws you actually like or at least find charming?

Pony Corral / Is now a good time to sell Paradise Estate (complete)?
« on: November 13, 2015, 03:30:11 PM »
Hello! I know no one can answer this definitively; just curious about opinions. I have a PE in really superb condition--a small bit of orange-ing on one roof, and a missing sticker or two, but otherwise beautifully colored with no cracks or chips. It has ALL accessories (down to the last utensil + all flowers, etc.) + the instructions (yellowed but complete), AND the box (has seen better days).

I know that complete PEs don't come up too often, and I also know that it's always a matter of who happens to be looking. But are the holidays a good bet or should I wait until April-May for tax refund season?

Thanks for any input!

Wanted! / Wanted: Moonstone + rainbow pony brushes/combs
« on: October 01, 2015, 09:43:20 AM »

Hi! I'm looking for a mint/NM Moonstone. If you have one, please send pics. Please no odors (eg smoke), no haircuts, little if any glitter rub, no major marks (including under feet), no major blush scratches/rubs (faded blush okay).

Also looking for matching rainbow pony brush/comb sets; must be mint or nearly so. No wear to sticker, no crooked stickers, no missing or bent bristles. Mainly looking for yellow, dark green, and darker blue; possibly lavender/purple.

Please only US sellers (to cut down on shipping costs!).

I do have some G1 ponies and accessories for trade if interested.

Please PM. Thanks!

Pony Corral / G1 Playset Box Help Needed!
« on: June 23, 2015, 02:59:42 PM »
Hello! I'd love some help with three different G1 playset boxes:

1) Dimensions of Paradise Estate box (and, if you REALLY want to be helpful, weight w/ playset inside)

2) Dimensions of Dream Castle box (and weight if you have it)

3) Good pic of Pretty Parlor box showing side w/ Blossom and Butterscotch on it

I know these are rather specific questions, so this post may quickly fall to the bottom of the heap, but hopefully some kind soul with these boxes can help. Thank you!

Pony Corral / What are your favorite/least favorite MLP color combo?
« on: March 04, 2015, 07:36:33 PM »

For me, I'm going to be a Negative Ned and go with the least favorite first. I think it would have to be blue bodies with dark fuchsia hair. Hasbro was on quite a jag with this color combo for a while mid-G1 run: Princess Royal Blue and Sweet Tooth in Year 5, Cranberry Muffins in Year 6, and Tassles and Baby Shaggy in Year 7. I like Sweet Tooth well enough but generally this just isn't the color scheme for me.

I have so many favorites I don't know where to start . . . but I'm going to go really typical and say I like pinkish bodies with pinkish hair! Cotton Candy . . . Lickety-Split (pinkish-purple body) . . . Heart-Throb (also pinkish-purple body) . . . they're just so sweet and fresh looking:)

Pony Corral / Your MLP Fairy Godmother
« on: January 29, 2015, 08:28:39 AM »
You collapse on the floor, sobbing. Once again, in the last second you've lost an eBay auction for the highly sought after BBE Baby Shady. "Life is so unfair!" you cry out as you stand up and race through the French doors that lead from your bedroom to the garden, where every day you arrange and play with your MLPs.

All at once, a bright light appears, and in the twinkle of an eye, an old but beautifully dressed woman appears! "I am your fairy godmother," she says. "I am here to make your MLP dreams come true!"

Waving her wand in the shape of a rectangle, your fairy godmother creates from nothing a shimmering door that looks like it is made from rainbows! "Go through this door, my child," she says, "and you can re-enter the toy store of your choice in any year, in any place in the world, from 1983 to today. In that toy story, you can take off the shelf FIVE pony items of your choice--ponies, playsets, Pony Wear, merchandise, etc. Then re-enter your own world through this door. But--" she said, with a look of concern, "you can't sell or give away the ponies you bring back. If you do, they will turn into pumpkins! But it's your choice whether to open them or keep them MOC."

You grasp the shining door knob, and enter. What do you choose? Remember, you can only pick FIVE items that would reasonably be in the store at the same time--so no G1/G3 mixes, etc.!

Hi! Today I was pondering (when I should have been working) which ponies I would say are the most and least "popular" for each G1 year (in collecting years, not during production). I don't mean which one I or other members specifically like/don't like, but rather which ponies come across as generally the most beloved or sought after (as you peruse the Arena, eBay, etc.) and which tend to be the wallflowers of the collecting world.

This is a tricky question to answer b/c "beloved" and "sought after" aren't always the same thing. But you can consider both of these when you think about popularity. For instance, I would rank iconic ponies like Cotton Candy, Firefly, Glory, etc., as very widely loved even though they aren't especially sought after (as they are so easy to get). Thus they would rank high in popularity IMO.

I'm not including mail orders--just store releases.

So what do you think? Clearly there's no definite right or wrong. Here are my guesses:

Year 1: Minty (most), Snuzzle (least--although she's so cute!)
Year 2: Applejack (most), Sprinkles (least)
Year 3: Gusty (most), CJ or Tootsie (least--and Tootsie is one my favorites for this year!)
Year 4: Maybe . . . Fizzy? (most), Baby Frosting (least--ha ha! The pony people love to hate)
Year 5: Mimic (certainly gets the most buzz), TAF Fifi or Scoops? (least)
Year 6: Maybe . . . Night Glider??? (most), Banana Surprise (least)
Year 7: Red Roses (most) . . . ugh, maybe Glittering Gem? (least)
Year 8: I have no idea for most . . . maybe Pony Bride for least?
Year 9: ???? . . . maybe Princess Royal Pink or Purple for least?
Year 10: Maybe one of the Soda Sippin' ponies? . . . least . . . I have no idea . . .
