Can rerooted pink hair sunfade?
« on: June 03, 2024, 09:10:05 AM »
Hello everyone,

I have a rerooted Windwhistler (fixed her bad hair) in the colour pink. Or fading pink as it's also called. I was wondering, does this new hair fade too? Should I be extra careful? I think it's nylon doll hair from dollyhair.com but I'm not sure anymore. It's been years. Her front part of her hair seems lighter than the back part.

Any advice is welcome :)

My understanding is that red dye is very sensitive to sunlight, whether it is from new suppliers or old suppliers, and any light pink has the potential to fade. I would try to keep her out of the light as you would with a normal pony. :) It might be more resilient, or brighter because it's new, but I don't believe there is any pink hair that is 100% fade-resistant.

In my experience the "Pussy Cat" pink nylon, which is a match for fading pink, will fade over time :( Re-pinked hair can also fade.

As TRT said red is very unstable/sun sensitive, just look at old, red cars.

Yes rerooted fading pink hair can fade to white when being placed in direct summer sunlight for a day only. I learned that the hard way.

Red pigment in general is very sensitive to sunlight - it may have something to do with red having the shortest wavelength of light? All our red/pink pool toys fade in like a week during the summer
I finally found my grail!
