Pony Corral / Re: 20 questions for collectors!
« on: November 07, 2020, 04:17:03 PM »
1. What got you into collecting MLP?
I had mlp as a kid (G1). When I had my own children, my childhood herd came back out of storage... Downhill from there!

2. Did you like MLP as a child?
They were my favourite toy.

3. What generations do you collect?
I was a G1 traditionalist. But then the G3 bug bit me. And I now confess to owing a few G4.... BUT I am still a G1 girl at heart.

4. Who is your favorite pony?
That's too hard to answer...

5. Who was your first pony?
Bow Tie

6. Who was the last pony you got?
Well, I'm hoping a Birthstone G3 will arrive soon...

7. What is your favorite generation?
G1

8. What is your favorite piece of media? (Any of the shows, comics, back cards, etc)
I like pamphlets and back cards.

9. What is your favorite pose?
That's another tricky one. I do love the shy pose and walking pose.

10. Do you own any customs / have you made one?
Generally not a big fan of customs and re-hairs. But I do have two delightful Isabella Klein customs which are pretty special in my collection.

11. Who is your biggest pony? Smallest?
My 'My Pretty Pony'. I love that hulky piece of plastic! And my petites and charms, of course!

12. How many ponies do you have in your collection?
Geez... if I count up all the ponies, G1 plush, petites, charms and blind bags, it's gone over 1000 now...

13. How is your collection displayed?
Everything is in storage....

14. What is your least favorite pose?
Bunnyhop pose? And pretty much every beddy bye eye pose. As if their eyes weren't bad enough!

15. What is your dream collection like?
A complete US and Euro release G1 collection. Just the ponies. I'd worry about accessories, backcards and ponywear later!

16. What was your biggest pony purchase (in terms of how many items)?
I got a couple of great lots off ebay back in the day. Might have had around 50-70 G1s in one lot. That was a good long while ago though, several years back.

17. What is your favorite part about collecting?
Scoring a great buy now. Haven't had that thrill in forever

18. What is your favorite pony website?
The Arena has always my forum home, although my activeness has dropped along with my collecting. I use two or three reference sites with regularity - prob mylittlewiki the most.

19. What flaw(s) can you not stand?
Haircuts. And I also dislike bad head/body mismatches and paint loss.

20. How complete is your collection?
I'd say 2/3 of the way to my dream goal. But with so many ponies out of reach for me financially, the grinding halt for me with int. shipping and the competitiveness in my country it's unlikely that will ever happen.

Pony Corral / Re: Restoring G1 Petite Pony Hair Curls?
« on: May 08, 2020, 05:20:20 PM »
I realized you might be talking about the little tiny ringlet curls, in which case, I don't know, but the mlp preservation project has an example of a petite like that in the hair section:  http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/hair.html
Just scroll down to the "Re-curling" section.  Its very encouraging...

That's my wee petite with the restored ringlet curls :) It was fiddly but I achieved that by using toothpicks.
If it's not a ringlet restore, then I find using the same methods as you would use on a normal sized pony's hair works just fine. Wash, condition; straighten and re-curl if required.

She was my grail pony for many, many years. Patience paid off and I eventually won her affordably in a lot and she was completely worth the wait!

Off Topic / Re: Week of Mar 21: COVID-19 info, facts & updates
« on: March 23, 2020, 04:58:45 PM »
1. Where do you live?
New Zealand

2. What is the current climate like where you're at?
Interesting.... Yesterday it was announced our nation (population nearly 5 million) is going into lockdown for four weeks. All non essential services are to close and the population to go into self isolation. As of yet we've had no deaths, 102 cases (I think... but that will rise). The point of the lockdown (and rightly so) is to prevent the spread and community transmission (two cases identified thus so far). All other cases are related to travel into NZ (or relatives/close connections to those who have travelled). There has been panic buying at supermarkets, leaving the more vulnerable and elderly at risk of not getting supplies which is sad.

3. Are news reports coming from your area accurate or no? What is going on?
Pretty good, and pretty constant. A lot of stuff about the panic buying. Not many people listening about shopping calmly and normally as possible. Fear going into action, really.

4. What are your questions and concerns?
I'm fairly accepting of the situation, and frankly, glad the country has acted as quickly as it has. It's a bit surreal going into lockdown, but I think a necessary step in order to reduce and 'stamp out' the spread as much as possible - thus reducing the risk of this dragging on and causing more illness and economic damage for months on end. I've gotta give credit to our prime minister - she handles these events well (mosque shootings, volcanic eruption, now this.... been an interesting 12 months)...

5. What has your government / administration done to address this (please try to keep this as politics free as possible, it is fine to state whether you agree/disagree with their actions etc) and, in your opinion, how is it working? Ex: Shelter in place orders, curfews, closures
Well, as stated above... we're in official lockdown in 24 hours.

6. Is your job affected, if so, how?
Yes - I work in a school. All schools will be closed for minimum 4 weeks, alongside all non essential services. I can do some work at home - I'm not a teacher. But the teachers will be doing online learning for the students etc.

7. How are you and your family doing??
Ok, really. Ask me again when the fruit and vegetables run out! Supermarkets will stay open, and I'll just have to take a deep breath when we eventually face the crowds. Otherwise myself, the hubby and kids feel ready as we can be for the next four weeks.

Pony Corral / Re: Complete petite collection/fakie petites?
« on: February 25, 2020, 11:37:23 AM »
Bar the stampers and the G2 fair exclusives I also have a complete collection (omg I love them.....)

Once I got into them that was it, and I was on the active lookout. It took me a couple of years.... maybe 3 or 4 (or even 5? - it's been a while! :P ) by the time I tracked down the last few I needed. There was one in particular, the twinkle guitar petite who just became the bane of my collecting life, lol!

I have chanced upon two playsets this year. Previously I didn't have any. I then discovered that the playset petites have the same big eye/small eye variation the pony parade petites have.... Ugh... I try not to get into variations but I ended up keeping the doubles since the differences in the petites was a curiosity in itself. Particularly Flurry - the two moulded versions I now have are two very different pinks.

I once had the green crayon petite with the symbol in a different colour (purple vs orange). I ended up trading her at the time but in hindsight I kinda now wished I'd held onto her. I think I was a bit caught up in trying to get other petites I didn't have as opposed to holding onto interesting (and rarish in her case) variations.

Can't quite seem to find my petite cabinet photo, but I did find my glow in the darks in action - so here's a bit of fun for you, Mermaid :)

Ooh, nice! Like I said earlier, I'm not one for collecting them, but that is a stellar find - and in such nice condition, too!

gggeeeeeaaaahhhhmehhh....

I've had a couple pass through my hands but I've never loved them enough to want to keep them so they found new homes. I favour Fashion Star Fillies far more, and have plenty of those!

Have and love! She was the last SS I needed, and being a bit picky, took me a good few years to score one. She was well worth it :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Horse ID ideas?
« on: February 08, 2020, 11:08:27 AM »
Hi; I've seen a pic of a dapple grey figurine horse on an auction which looks intriguing and I'd like to know what it is (brand/model). However the pic is not good enough to view the key feature that would ID it.
It has what appears to be a small shield shaped logo on its flank - which has a horse within the shield, and a banner with writing that I can't read across the bottom of the shield itself. This logo also appears on the accessories that comes with it - notably two blankets/covers (purple and blue respectively).
I don't think it's a Grand Champion, Breyer or Schlieh (spelling?). Any ideas based off of the above?!

Hi all

I have two G4 Star Swirl lots available for sale.

Shipping is from New Zealand and does not include tracking (which is available but very expensive). International Shipping is at buyers risk. I cannot be not responsible for lost parcels or any import taxes/duties. I have excellent seller feedback available. Paypal only. I can load more, detailed pics for serious enquiries.

#1 Star Swirl on her own, in very nice condition. Minor (but not unusual) head/body mismatch, and faint scuff to one eye. Hair lovely. 35US + 12.50US shipping to Euro/US (Aus is a bit cheaper).

#2 Star Swirl + Rarity and Royal Gem Carriage. Comes with (what I think?) are the original two combs and one barrette. All items in used condition; Rarity in particular has seen better days - marks, rubs to eyelashes and very bad hair. Star Swirl is better but has some marks and dry hair. Both ponies have slight head/body mismatch and initials on their bellies. Some wear and bending to accessories. Carriage is discoloured with some wear to painted areas. WILL NOT SEPARATE. 35US + 15.50US shipping to Euro/US (Aus is a bit cheaper).

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 1/6/2020 Cherry Treats

I had such a beautiful example of this pony, once, and I sold her when I did a big sell off many years ago and have deeply regretted it. Still makes my heart sink when I think of how I let her go  :(

I have since replaced her, but she's not the same beauty I was had. I live in hope of one day finding another who minty and white.
