Title: Comb ID please...
Post by: applejackbunny on December 19, 2017, 08:43:15 AM
I've had this comb since the 80s, I think, but am unsure about its origin...does any one know if it's MLP or if not, then what? visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Tried to insert image from Flickr but it's so long since I last used it that it clearly hasn't worked!

Could someone just remind me how to share a photo from Flickr please? Thanks.

To insert pictures from Flickr:
Click on the picture you want to upload
You'll see some white outline icons in the bottom right if the picture. There should be an arrow one, click on that and it brings up the 'share' tab.
Then there will be some options across the top of the window, click BBCode.
Choose the size you want for the image, and then copy and paste the link in the bar below. If you don't want the picture to link back to your account, just delete the text in the <URL> tags and keep the <IMG> <\IMG> Tags and the link inside.

I hope this makes sense, and I hope someone can ID your comb for you

I'm so sorry, I still can't seem to do it. When I click on the photo it just enlarges it and the option to share it only extends to facebook, twitter, pintrest and tumblr...

Guess that didn't work either  :(

That's because your final "img" has to be "[/img]"  :)
But the link doesn't work either. You need to host your pic somewhere else, like imgur or something.

Don't know what toy this came with, sorry.  But it's not am MLP comb, that's for sure.

It's not MLP or any of the other 80's Hasbro toy-lines that I am familiar with.
Looks cheaply made - the obvious nub on the loop end where it was cut from a sprue, and the lack of design/markings would make me suspect it came from any one of a number of discount toy lines that existed at the time.

Hmm...could be, although it is extremely solid IRL (the pic doesn't really show that). Also, don't forget, it's from the UK. I wish I could remember what it came with...

Good to know I can definitely rule out MLP though :)

Definitely not MLP, and I really have no idea what it could be.  You could try to scrounge around Ghost of the Doll and hope you get lucky:

Maybe try looking up all the different toys you had as a kid and see if you see that comb in any of their pictures.  Even if you can't find it, it's still a great site to spend a few hours on:p  The site doesn't concentrate on accessories and combs, but sometimes you can catch a glimpse of the accessories in the MIP pics, or some of the loose ones.

Thanks for the link - I will have a look  :) Not sure how much of what's on there made it to the UK (I had Sindy dolls rather than Barbie, for example, and there's no mention of Sindy on the website as far as I can tell) but maybe I can search out a UK vintage toy website. Great idea - thanks!
