If they were trying to rip off anything, it'd be the Breezies. They even have the little adorable antennae.  I would guess the color resemblance and the leotard is a coincidence, (there are only so many colors out there,) but a very neat one!
I'll put something here some time

I'd say coincidence - there are only a small number of "Girl Appropriate" (Phtooy!) colors that get used these days, make enough and eventually you'll hit every possible combo.  Nice they actually used green, pastel though it is, any green is pretty low down on the color list used.
G1 Wishlist  It's the final countdown! Looking to purchase the last few G1's for my collection - Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies Foamy, Misty & Surfy - Red Roses - SHS Sweet Sundrop - Springy - Teeny Tiny Snookums (#2)

These were my thoughts too. Pastels for "feminine" toys has been a societal standard for a few decades, now. You're eventually going to run into some coincidences like this because you're working with limited options.

Now having said that, I do like to think the designer was still inspired by G1 MLP. ;)

I'd say coincidence too- but the similarity really is striking!

I want to believe that the designer had Posey Rose as a child and used her as an inspiration :) I'd say coincidence, but the yellow leotard is just too similar.
