Uh oh...! D: Bait help, please?
« on: November 17, 2012, 06:45:27 PM »
Well, tonight, I finally started prepping some baits for a commission and swaps, but as I was getting to the last of the baits, I noticed the cherry berry one had a um...nose deformity? I almost didn't notice it, but now that I do, I don't know what to do...

A picture of her problem:

It may be hard to see in that shot, but look at her nose...Only on one side, her nose has this odd indent under the left nostril...It isn't a slash or anything, but just a deep indent that I assume was factory.

I'm going to be turning this girl into a boy, so I was thinking maybe if nothing else, I can try my hand at sculpting, but I wasn't planing on doing that. >_>; Now, I'm at a loss. What would you guys and gals suggest?

maybe dip the nose into hot water and see if the dent pops out?
if it's just a dent that ended up there after the fact rather than a casting error then it might work.
I'm not sure if that's something that works on vinyl 'cause I've never tried it, but people do it with resin bjds that have ended up with some sort of dent or ding in one of their parts 'cause the dent will just pop back out because of the heat; so it could maybe be worth a shot.

On mine alot of the dents from packaging wear out on their own over time. Could it be from that?

I've had a few with problems like that, though honestly they didn't look as 'sharp' as that, if that makes sense? They were usually more rounded, smoother dents...
Anyways, best way to try and fix it is to stick the head in some boiling water, it usually pops the dents out... Might make it less noticeable, if anything. Good luck! D:

Ahahaha! XD Thank you, that made my morning.

I tried the boiling water trick last night. The dent kinda smoothed out a little, but the biggest part of it stayed the same. A friend offline suggested using modpodge to seal the area? Would that work?

if its very deep you can fill it in with modpodge :) are you planing on a FBR or using her base color?

Sanada: Originally, I had an FBR in mind, but I thought the color matched well to what I was trying to do...I can always go back to that idea. ^ ^ The dent is sharp, but not really deep.
