I'll check the next time I'm at Target- Monday at the latest! Last that I saw we did have some, but I don't want to promise anything without knowing for sure.

Pony Corral / Re: Minnesota Pony Meet- Planning stage!

Someone will have to give me more info on it so I know what to expect because I have never been to one before :) I can't wait!!

Hi, PonySeeker! Pony meets are pretty stright-forward. Expect tables full of ponies either for sale or as a display (always ask, I've tried to buy people's collections before! LOL!) and a bunch of friendly people. I'm hoping we'll have lots of games at this year's meet and lots of prizes, too! And there are all types of ponies, from customs to custom bait, valuable and hard-to-find, and those common ones that are great for starting a collection. AND those friendly pony people know so much! If you want to know more about generation two or obscure accessories, it's a fun place to hear what other people know, what they think, and what they have that you can touch and see, sometimes for the first time!

I have given up on keeping track to be honest....I am so used to being a member of a community which Hasbro pretty much acknowledged only from a friendly and polite distance that getting used to all the chopping & changing, the protectionism, the rivalries, the intensity towards HB is starting to hurt my head lol! I am a simply soul at heart!

I mean this nicely but "I am not bothered one way or the other" - my focus and interest is the toyline and always has been - the show is a secondary idea that I do enjoy but only as a "bolt on" to the line. I work in marketing and advertising so I applaud the concept of creating your own tv channel and your own shows simply to sell your product - but if they cancelled the show tomorrow but continued to make the toys I would not be that fussed.

All MLP belong to Hasbro they can do what they like - they can change characters, protect characters, refuse to do or simply do whatever they like with them. And as long as Hasbro are going to continue with the MLP I ll bow to their greater knowledge and "rights" and let them get on with it!

This. :muffin: Pony doesn't affect me one way or the other, though a toy of her would be fun.

I don't know if I've ever gone camping on Labor Day weekend! Haha! We ususally have a big camping trip the first weekend in August, and that is one of the few things that I will miss a pony meet for.

Labor day weekend is September 1,2, and 3. I'm ok with that if everyone else is- my hubby works at Lowe's so HE'S not going anywhere that weekend!
I would like to get the reservation in as early as possible- that room that we had last year was supposed to hold 40 people, but the seven tables full of ponies really filled the space up! But at least we know it's close to the doors, so we could play games outside if there's not enough room inside. And I know how to better display my sale ponies- now to get some cheap plastic shelves! There's plenty of room to go UP, just a limit on space to spread out!

If anyone notices anyone else on the board from MN or the surrounding states, feel free to direct them here to provide input- I really want this to work for lots of people!

I was going to avoid swaps for a little while to try and build up my funds, but I might go into withdrawal! So since I have until May to spend $30, I think I can swing it! That's $10 a month, after all.

1. Are you willing to ship international? You betcha!

2. Post here a link to your feedbacks: I think you can just click that little number by my name...

3. Post a link to your actual wantlist here (only links please): This is in my signature, but I need to update it a little. It has ALL my wanted ponies, so just ignore the ones that are outside the price limit. Unless you happen to have a spare Ice Crystal sitting around! Haha!

4. With which condition are you okay? Are you a very picky collector? Write here any information for your partner to make sure that you'll receive the ponies in the condition you like them)
I am not picky at all! I would like all the pieces of the pony to be there, but even that is up for debate! I don't mind haircuts, marks, pindot- I believe all of the ponies deserve love, and I also know my wishlist is getting more difficult. Please no living mold, though- my hubby is mighty allergic!

5. Do you collect anything else besides My little Pony?
I like Holly Hobbie dolls, vintage dish towels, and mugs that say "I had a bad idea." I recently discovered these things, they were advertising cups in the 1970's or so, I think. I’m also a tree nerd, so I would love a pressed leaf from a plant that’s common where you live- though you should tell me what the plant is, I’m not very good at identification!

6. Other Likes/Interests/Hobbies? (Tell us here a bit more about you)
I love gardening! I also like information on living "off the grid," or independently of outside help. Things like growing your own food, building wind turbines, herbal remedies, stuff like that. I admit it, I'm a prepper. Don't judge me.
I have an Olde English Bulldogge named Otis who loves to chew things- but please no plush chew toys. I don't want him to confuse his toys and mine! My cat, Lazarus (remember him?) likes cat stuff. I'm not sure if he likes catnip, we haven't tried that yet. My parrot likes nuts and potato chips, and my boa constrictor just likes to lay in the heat.

7. Would you like to receive a custom? Any special wishes here?
Customs of Aurora are always welcome! She’s midnight blue with sea green hair with little splashes of red, like the northern lights. Her symbol is the same- streaks of sea green with hints of red. It doesn’t matter where on her body they are, they move.
My only request is that if you make a custom, please let the bait be genuinely BAIT. Someone who can’t be saved.

8. What's your fave season? And would you like seasons theme Extras?
I love Fall. My birthday is in October, and it’s always been my favorite month. I’m open for anything as an extra, that’s part of the fun!
9. What kind of Candy and Snacks do you like?
I’m a big fan of Oatmeal Crème Pies, I love hazelnut things, I’m really open to anything here! I prefer milk chocolate over dark, and I don’t like black licorice.

10. Any Candy Dislikes or Allergies?
I don’t like black licorice or anything with that flavor. I’m not allergic to anything food-wise, but my hubby is allergic to nuts. I’ll leave it up to you if you want to be nice to hubby and send something he can share, or if you want me to hide the candy from him!

11. In which swaps have you been before (tell me a few examples)
The Advent Calendar swap, both years! Also the little swap, the culture swap, a few holiday swaps… I love swaps!

Nessa, most of the people in MN are in the cities, so it makes sense to have it there. And I'm good with whatever date/month, it will probably be on a Saturday so it shouldn't affect school too much!
The end of October is bad for me, and the beginning of August is bad. So somewhere in that 2 1/2 month stretch, there has to be a weekend that works for most of us!
Shadowfax, last year was fun! And since I spent all my money at your table, I certainly remember you! LOL!
Syndnie, are you in MN for the summer? How long are you here? Otherwise, I know there are pony meets closer to Philly (Oh, man, you really live in Phillydelphia? How Ponyriffic!)

Pony Corral / Re: Displaying pony combs and brushes?
« on: January 28, 2012, 04:45:13 AM »
I have brushes stored in two ways- one is the giant jar, like kellyponyfeathers mentioned. Mine is a cleaned-out pickle jar, but same idea. The other is an over-the-door organizer meant for hot wheels cars. It holds about 100-150 brushes, each in their own little pocket. I've also used it for sorting the tiny things, like baby accessories and shoes, but the pockets work perfectly for combs. I got mine at a yard sale, but I'm sure there are some on ebay!
If you wanted to label each pocket, it wouldn't be hard, or you can sort the combs by color and have a rainbow. Right now I've just got the combs with their own kind- bears, racecars, shooting stars, etc.

Good times were had by all! Thanks to everyone who came and traded/bought/sold/played games. I haven't opened my Pinkie Pie Light Thingie yet, but I'm very excited for a chance to play with it!

(Typed long ago)
It's 2012! That means (appearantly) a new Arena, a time to test the Mayan's prediction, and time to plan for this year's MN Pony Meet!
We've had a request to move the meet to the same time as the Renaissance Festival, usually in September and October. I am open to that- early October sounds like a wonderful time for a Pony Meet, in time to buy myself a birthday present.
I really liked the Black Bear Crossings, though if someone has found a wonderful site during the last year we would love to hear about it. BBC is free, but I'm still willing to chip in some money for a site that costs a little bit of money.
So MN Pony peeps, come out of the woodwork!

What's a pony meet? It's a chance to get together with other pony collectors/customizers/lovers and talk about ponies! Last year our site was in Saint Paul next to the Como Zoo, which wasn't hard to find. There's a lot of trading, buying and selling, and playing games for prizes. I'm challenging everyone to bring 5 prizes to put on the prize table- they don't have to be anything amazing or overly valuable, and they don't have to be pony-related, either. We all have lots of interests!

Hi, PonySeeker! I'm Aurora, one of the other pony peeps in Minnesota. I'm near Wells, in the south central chunk of the state. Where are you at?
