You can get Scentsy warmers that are like nightlights, so they don't need to sit on a counter and don't have cords. The plug swivels, so it doesn't matter which way your outlet goes.

Hair dryers work great for removing stickers - and they are the best option when trying to take a sticker off something that is paper/will get stained by other removal products.

I love ponies with a white-pink-yellow color combination.

Awww...I didn't know there was a pony with a pointe shoe as her symbol....must add her to my list of ponies to buy now! :)

I've never seen the MLP fruit snacks here :(
No pony mail today and no ponies at the thrift store (I'm convinced that they bag them all up and sell them elsewhere).
Maybe my ponies will come in tomorrow :)
I am convinced this is what Goodwill does...I hate Goodwill...they do the auction thing online and they end up going for too much because you don't know if they are moldy, smokey, cancerous, not enough pictures so you are risking your money...here is better
Go Arena and taking our money!! I always be spending me money on thee ponies SpongeBob!!

I think my local Goodwill picks through and does something else with the good toys too. I used to find ponies there all the time years ago, but haven't seen any in a long time. I ended up donating some G3s when my boyfriend tricked me into some spring cleaning last year, and I never saw them make it to the sales floor. Boo Goodwill!

It was dead at the Chinook Mall location in Calgary when it first opened.

I ended up getting there about 20 minutes before it opened, so I picked up some Starbucks as I walked through the mall. There was only one other person when I got there; he said he had been worried about it being busy too, so he had arrived about 1.5 hours early. We had a fun chat about MLP and other 80's & 90's shows & toys and the differences between the originals and reboots while we waited.

There was also a group of about 7 other people that joined us before the store opened, composed of two ladies in their early 20's and about 4 or 5 preteen girls. The younger girls looked at me funny when I did not hesitate to do the whole ritual to put the heart into Rainbow Dash.

I chose Rainbow Dash...as cute as Pinkie was, I just couldn't get her, in case Fluttershy or Rarity gets released in the future.

ETA: I forgot to add that there was a bit of a cash register mishap when I went to pay...the till wanted to charge me $150K, and as we all laughed about it, one of the guys working there said, "Surprise! You get a real pegasus!"

It's 8:04am and I'm on the bus, on my way across the city to get to BAB. I should get there just before it opens at 9:30am.

I checked out the website last night, but the shipping to Canada is just too expensive, even with that $10 coupon code. Hopefully the Canadian prices aren't that much higher than the States. *Crosses fingers*

Weird...I used my Skitch account to link my avatars and pics for years on the old forum...new one must not like it.  Good thing I somehow remembered my Photobucket password after so many years of disuse...

Thanks Kiwi! :)

Every time I try to change my avatar and click save, it seems to change to 'no avatar', even though it also says "Your profile has been updated successfully."  Is there a way to fix this?

The link I am trying to use is:

Saw them last week at the Northland Walmart in Calgary, but I was with my boyfriend and he wouldn't let me buy any because we go on vacation this week and need all our money for that.

I was in Red Deer on the weekend and my sister wanted to look for them, but we had no luck - nothing at all at the north Walmart and the south Walmart and TRU only had an empty box left.

I second what Tilas said about working with an immigration lawyer if you want to make the process go a bit smoother. From what I've heard, it can be a bit of a complicated process.

"A bit" is a major understatement, believe me! ^_^;  By the time we were done, we had nearly 100 pages of paperwork filled out!!

Haha!  The "a bit" was totally meant to be tongue in cheek.  :)  The Canadian government loves its paperwork...just getting a passport has become so ridiculous with all the hoops to jump through, it makes me thankful that I've never had to apply for anything more complicated...

I'm much more familiar with resources for Calgary and Alberta, but these look like they might be useful for you to look into:
Service Canada - Newcomers to Canada
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
The Government of Manitoba's immigration website
About Winnipeg
Immigrant Centre Manitoba

I highly recommend researching your field in Manitoba before deciding to move there.  I work with youth with barriers to employment, many of whom are newcomers to Canada. (Youth=ages 15-30 according to the federal government.) In my conversations with many newcomers to Calgary, including Americans and even Canadians that have just moved across the country, I have often heard the story about how they moved here because they had heard that there were so many jobs and that they were were very frustrated at not being able to find a job...because they didn't do their research first.  Here are some links to help you get started:

Manitoba Labour Market Information Publications
Employment Manitoba
Working in Manitoba
Working in Canada - Explore Careers

I hope some of this has been useful for you and wish you the best of luck! :)
