I haven't heard anything about these. They look really cool!

I heard they were coming out on the funko forum I belong to as I collect PoPs. The MLP figures are actually not PoPs! but are made by Funko (who makes Wacky Wobblers, PoP!'s and vinyl figures).

Here's a link to an online store who sells Funko products....on this page, the MLP protos are available so far:

Here's the actual Funko website:

How expensive are they? I saw some at Barnes & Noble the other day (not ponies, but other ones) but I didn't check the prices.

I've asked my fellow funkofunatics about that auction and if it's a proto....let you know what they say.....but there was news/rumour of Funko  making MLP's in the near future!

I know more about PoPs, which run from $10-$12.50 and are found at places like, B&N, Chapters (CDN), HMV, Target, Futureshop, Best Buy, variety of Comic stores, and many other places including Disney. There are several online stores like Gemini that sell Funko products. As for this MLP figure, not exactly sure but you could post questions on their FB page:

Oh wow! I didn't know about these. Are there pictures anywhere else? Or other characters? I see the protos on that site you linked dinobuzz but I don't see them on Funko's site. Oh my there's one for :muffin: Pony too!

That Dash is freaking adorable! I am definitely, definitely going to need.
(Is that a divot/gate mark on her cheek in the 2nd pic though?)

Thanks for sharing those auction pics MoonShadow! I'm super excited for this!

This RD is the finished piece and not a prototype.....when they do get release the price should be approx. $20 or less.

Love them! I hope their price will be a bit decent and i like how with them making fully molded toys i don't need to worry about the Hasbro brushables dissapearing.
Though i'm slightly amused they wanted to go for "super show accurate" and still messed up on the mane colors.

Nice, hope any ponies they do all have their unique or own mane style. Most importantly Fluttershy as any molded figure of her so far has been a re-coloring. Would love to get the Rainbow Dash but not at the price that it is going for on e-bay right now. Hope they are cheaper when they hit stores.

It wouldn't hurt for you to be a bit more polite, Starly.

Also, since they obviously have the right colors to use, it's still funny that the mane colors are still not correct.
It's just a statement, no reason for you to freak out.

Love these! :) I feel like Funko has definitely been delivering with their acquired franchises as of late, and this is just the icing on the cake as far as getting my attention. I can't wait to see more MLP characters from them.

There's a chain of comic stores around here that typically has an entire section dedicated to Funko products, I'll have to hit a few of them up once they're officially out.

I heard about these several months ago around the time the license was granted by Hasbro to Funko for the product.

For me? I find it weird that Hasbro are licensing out the production of what is essentially a "toy" - all be it a moulded vinyl product. At this point I am missing the days when we got new brushable My Little Pony toys - between these and blind bags. But I guess this item has a completely different target market than the actual MLP line so perhaps its an attempt to cater to as many fans as possible which is a good thing.

I wish they wouldn't use that brony name for the yellow haired pegasus. Would it kill them to respect people who are offended by it? Can't people respect others anymore?

And are they still putting the cutie mark on one side only? Even for a fancy molded pony. LLLLLLLLLLLAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayzy!

Probably the same reason they are having Integrity do the new Jem dolls. They want a company adult collectors are familiar with making them.

I understand the why of it...its just that for me after years of collecting MLP its odd to see Hasbro license out to someone essentially the right to create a toy. Except for the collectors G3 ponies, MLP has pretty much stayed to its heart and produced children's toys which we as adults happen to like and collect; this is just a different step which I may understand but for me they are not really MLP any more more like merchandise.

I have! :) I nearly fell out of my chair when I first saw photos of them. I initially thought they were a bit creepy but I've warmed up to thinking they're cute the more I looked at them and poked around image galleries of their other figures in the same style. Dany is totally going on my desk and I can't wait to see who's in series 2.*

*Edit: Just found the preview list, thanks for the heads up!

I hope they make all 6 like this.

Me too. :) As it stands, I'm really not a huge fan of the ponies that were announced so far, although I do love Funko's take on them.

Honestly, I can relate about fans thinking these are a bit strange in spirit. I also thought it was a bit ironic at first that Hasbro, a toy company first and foremost, is licensing out use of their characters, that basically came about in the first place to push signature line products, to a fellow toy/collectible company. The more I thought about it though, how are the Funko ponies much different than say, the G1 porcelains put out by Extra Special in the 80's?

On second thought- maybe more detailed- I do like them a lot :D

I am a bit surprised that the ebay "prototype" is more than $400 already-  it is possible it is a marketing prototype- but I don't see anything at all on the box or anywhere that indicates that it is anything different than the finished product.  Guess we will have to see when these things hit Hot Topic.  I hope they don't sell out instantly- :P

I completely get that and I do understand the argument that these are more "collectables" than toys and that people are delighted at them being released....buuuuuuuut....personally they are just [for me at least] too close in principle to what Hasbro as a toy company are creating. Funko and similar lines usually create collectables of lines which are almost completely licensed or create items which are not similar to the principle line but are essentially merch for a popular line - I know I love my Peanuts Funko bobble heads :). If they were doing bobble heads or key rings or something other than a simply moulded character then I would see it as merch but it just feels and looks really close to being a collectable toy for me...line that Rainbow Dash up next to the AJ and Pinkie from the initial FiM box release with moulded hair and you have a similar product.

I wish they wouldn't use that brony name for the yellow haired pegasus. Would it kill them to respect people who are offended by it? Can't people respect others anymore?
Hasbro had to have okayed that as a licensor. Even though I think it's taboo, there's a ton of money to be had with that moniker and I think it's a great way for Hasbro to make one without actually making it. Maybe they'll make pimp daddy destro next, lol.

I'm happy she's on her way though, maybe they can do a Ditzy chase version and hopefully ebay prices for the sdcc version will come down from $100+.

Yeah- I have no problem with Hasbro selling the license to fantastic toy manufacturers- these look great and I bet Hasbro is cleaning up profit-wise.  I find it odd that people have a problem with the fact that Hasbro isn't making these- there are many dozens of licensees for MLP products- and have been since the 80s (ie the plushies, various school items/clothing/odd figures/collectible figures ie porcelain)

Really, the more profitable the MLP franchise is, the more likely it will stick around and we will get new stuff :D

Looks pretty cool. One thing that bothers me is how "static" the figures look - they could've at least posed them or something. :P

Also, one thing I have to ask: do they have Hasbro's endorsement on this?

I think HB just shot themselves in the foot big-time. They have the capacity to make these pony themselves, but they license it out to a company with much less presence in the world (seriously, I've never heard of these Funko guys until just now, and have never seen their toys on the shelves ever).

Profit wise, if HB were to license out full-time to these guys and stop making ponies themselves, i'd say they deserve what's coming to them. Ponies would become hard to find worldwide, and that would be the least of their problems.
Title: Re: Molded Hair G4's - Funko Pop Figures
Post by: Galactica on October 10, 2012, 09:17:56 AM
They don't have Hasbro's "endorsement" - they purchased a licensing agreement from Hasbro to sell the product which I am sure was a pretty hefty pricetag, Hasbro would have approved the design and packaging before they could even move forward.

I don't think Hasbro "shot itself in the foot" -  it is expensive to develop new products and have them manufactured- they are sticking to brushables, FS, blindbags, etc-  and allowing a few other manufacturers make products that don't compete (ie Funko making these plastic ponies, Kid Designs making plushies, WeLoveFine making t-shirts, and hundreds more)

It just seems odd to object to the product because Hasbro itself didn't make it-  Hasbro is certainly making a tidy profit off the sales of these products, and their marketing and licensing people probably know better than we about what is good for the brand image and profits...

Title: Re: Molded Hair G4's - Funko Pop Figures

I agree with Galactica. Hasbro probably wants to focus on their main market, which is children, rather than devoting their resources to making more accurate/detailed and expensive products for adults. So they licensed out the rights (for a fee) to someone else who wishes to capitalize on that market.
Title: Re: Molded Hair G4's - Funko Pop Figures
Post by: RAMChYLD on October 10, 2012, 09:45:46 AM
Well, whichever rocks their boat I guess. Point is, these Funko guys don't have as good a distribution network as Hasbro does (I don't think Hasbro distributes the toys on their behalf- Hasbro Malaysia's totally clueless when asked about the KidDesigns animated storytellers or the Funrise plushes).

I still thinks it feels weird tho- a pony figure hat's not made by Hasbro...

Still, as long as it stops the whining about how toy accuracy...

Funko has been around for a long time, here's some background on the company:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funko

They would never produce something unless they have permission/rights to.....Funko has many, many licensed characters that they produce.....even bigger than MLP.

The only thing I don't like is that they are doing this rather than improve the quality on their regular products because they figure kids don't care about scuffs or smudges or dents.

They honestly make pretty good quality stuff. I have seen way, way too many boys action figures already broken in the still-sealed package, hanging on hooks at Toys R Us. And some of us know how bad the faces can sometimes be on Mattel's dolls. I've never seen a pony with no hair, or completely misplaced eyes, or her head rattling around in the package.

I dont think anyone is actually objecting to them being made. Speaking for myself, its more a statement of opinion that I find it odd that they would license out something which is so similar to what they make themselves. Yes, there is tons of merch and has been through all generations but we are talking ornaments and plushies not actual vinyl toys [be they "play" or "display" toys]...the only true difference between this and what Hasbro make is the hair after all and when you consider the similarity to the first Hasbro made moulded hair set back in 2010 there isnt much of a difference at all.

I am sure Hasbro have done their sums and it makes commercial sense and if it means they create more actual brushable new characters then I ll be happy happy! I think everyone is entitled to like, dislike them or be a little worried that more attention and effort is currently going into licensing and blind bags than the toy line...or so it feels.

I really get sad seeing all the complaints these have all over the internet, some bronies and collectors just wanted to have some larger sized molded hair ponies, and yet they STILL find things to complain about!

Yes, Hasbro's ponies have betetr eyes, but is that really reason to bash these considering some have been whining for these since the start. Sigh, no one is ever just satisfied with an honest attempt.

I was wondering if there would be a thread about this... Here is your Experimental Ordering Science update from Dusky Industries:

I have ordered:
http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/PopCulture/MyLittlePony//My+Little+Pony+Bubbles+Vinyl+Figure-144782.jsp
x2

How I paid: Visa card, because they don't take non-USA paypal.
Shipping was: $48. I know. I'm a moron.

What happened next: My order confirmed via email, and then halted via email pending confirmation of payment. This is done via PHONE.
When I rang them: Stayed on hold, got an operator (so polite!) after ~3 minutes, had my card and address details confirmed (last 4 digits of the long number only), and the order has been marked for dispatch.

So, if you're UK based and can hack the shipping (which is $58 of 5 of them, I checked), and can phone them up afterwards then it's worth it.

Can't be this. I had her in my cart, Paypal was being cranky, I had to make my shipping arrangements, I click on place order button:

"The quantity you have specified for 144782-000, is greater than the available quantity. Please enter lesser quantity."

She was in my cart and she still sold out. Does it really take that much effort to make a system where quantities are deducted from the stock when they are in the cart? Since I've seen other lesser sites do it, probably not.

Are international buyers not permitted Paypal?

wow this exploded overnight. I'm a little surprised that RD still has incorrect mane and Ditzy has extra derped eyes, that's totally put me off them. If they show up in stores I might like them more in person (not to mention the lack of crazy shipping prices), I'll be content to wait because TRU often has these. Congrats to everyone who's nabbed one!

Were they? The only hint I can think of before the protos seen a few days ago was there was a list of companies that got licencing rights (which is where I assume we heard Funko got rights. I have no idea where that thread even went.) and some unconfirmed comment that a Funko rep. mentioned at a con or toy show that they were working on something MLP.
Maybe we are getting spoiled seeing protos on taobao months ahead of time that we are missing the little things...
but it does seem sudden to me as well, compared to the buzz that has been typically going on about new toys. Or I just missed something...

edit: Just realizing one of those threads on Funko's forum was started back in Aug. so I guess it was known but the MLP collector community wasn't really aware...
Anyway, I'm happy they are out now! I can't wait to get mine XD

Title: Re: Molded Hair G4's - Funko Pop Figures

I looked up shipping to the U.K.-  looks like a package weighing 16oz/1lb (I assume the packaged pony in another shipping box will weigh around this much) will cost $11.60 to ship first class- plus an additional $11.75 to send by registered mail.  so $23.35 IF you can manage to ship it in a package that is less than 12".

If the recipient want the packaging to look nice (and I will assume they do) you might have a very difficult if not impossible time finding a box less than 12" to fit it into.  (I am considering wrapping it in sheets of foam and cardboard like Chinese shippers do- but will need to assess once the package arrives)

If you can't get the package shipped in a box under 12"- you can't ship first class- and also the package is likely to weigh slightly over 1lb.  Assuming a package with dimensions of 14" x 14"x 10- and a weight of 1lb 6 oz-  usps.com shows a shipping price of $40.85 for priority- and $48.40 for express-  I think that is pretty close to what Hottopic is charging, isn't it?

So maybe Hot Topic is actually charging actual shipping costs after all?

A cookie to the filly in the stands! They are in fact charging bang on the nose for UPS express shipping to the UK. I actually asked about that when I rang them up to confirm details.

My Bubbles' have dispatched. If EUROPE persons are willing to send me funds in advance (plus whatever the shipping works out as) then I am willing to try and buy more as they took my card and I know how to ring them.

Please note: I worked it out and 2 Bubbles' ended up as £25 each, 5 Bubbles' went down to £17 each. I'd have to assume I'd get them in dribs and drabs as the Hot Topic restocking is going slowly. Same applies for Rainbow Dash, and I'd have to ask for the shipping to wherever-you-are once I have the ponies in-hand.

Dusky- that is quite awesome of you to help out your fellow ponies!

I also am wondering if the ponies are at the Hot Topic stores- it seems like most of the time Hot Topic has these things at the store before they are available online- might be worth a call to the Hot Topics nearby if you missed out on Bubbles?

Of course I don't work at Hot Topic- but just about everything they have in their online store- they often have in some of their stores-

I WONDER if they are there already???

They are already there from what I've heard.

Obviously call your local stores first, but these are not internet exclusives.

It does. Kinda hard to tell for sure, but it seems like the exact same one. Maybe the box is different, I dunno.

The people who spent $100 or so on prototypes still might luck out because those are different. Not worth it to me, but at least they got something neat.

I would have bought those wax prototypes that were available for $99 in a heartbeat- I WISH I had known about them  :cloud:

That one on ebay doesn't look like anything special at all- even if it was an EP (and it doesn't look to be) that price was way too high ...

That is the risk with getting stuff from Taobao I agree- but then sometimes the prototypes never get made! I still wish I had bought one of those white FS Celestias- or the clear/glitter mane six characters-  it is always a risk with new stuff...

The see-through ones aren't going to be a line after all? Darn. Maybe they couldn't stabilise the plastic again, after the G3 line started to fleece oozy stuff after a while.
Title: Re: Molded Hair G4's - Funko Pop Figures
Post by: Galactica on October 12, 2012, 02:18:17 PM
Ooh- maybe that is why!

I don't know for sure- I do know that after the initial clear ones showing up on Taobao- they dried up entirely and there is not even a whisper of them now- which tells me they were a test run that got the thumbs down.  I would be shocked to see them (or the White Celestia) in regular production at this point.

I wonder how many of those brushable minties were ever made? I sure wish they had made more of those too...

I feel you on those prototypes. I was hoping they'd be up a little longer so I could find the money grab one. And I remember when the first :muffin: Pony prototype went up on TaoBao. I figured she was either fake or would be released with accessories (which I would've wanted) and passed. Now I'm searching high and low for it and can't find one.

Ah well...Lesson learned. The second I see a prototype I should snatch it up because I'll be killing myself trying to find it later.

Not everything is picked up on straight away - on this occasion it has taken the items coming into stock for there to be a reaction on this scale thats all I think.

I kind of want that :muffin: Pony, but I just wish she were cheaper. I think I'd feel better about spending that much if she had her cutie mark on both sides. I like the side of her without the cutie mark better because of her hair, but if I display her like that, she'd look like a blank flank. I think the Rainbow Dash looks ok, but the hair bothers me. It seems like they could have done some more research to be sure the hair colors were correct before releasing her.

Speaking of that post Hot Topic made on facebook, we also now know why Derp.y keeps going in and out of stock. Apparently someone on their end screwed up and accidentally relisted it. So for all those still wondering it was a mistake. But, considering it's not a limited edition figure, more should be stocked up soon enough.

Are these a Hot Topic exclusive or can we expect to see more characters and stocked at places like TRU?
Sorry if this has been covered, there's so many pages of convo I don't know what's going on with these anymore :P

If it was a mistake, does that mean I won't get mine? I ordered around 10am Central time this morning when it was showing as in stock again. I got the confirmation email about my order, but nothing about shipping.

They dont appear to be an HT exclusive - there are no claims of that so far that I can see but you never know. However, I think they are unlikely to turn up in the same places that the actual toys are sold - they would end up being an actual competitor to Hasbros own product so I presume its likely they ll be limited to merchandise locations, comic book stores that kind of thing. There is probably a limitation on the licensing agreement.

I was contemplating getting them, but after seeing pictures of them, they're kind of "meh" in my opinion. I am much happier with my SDCC "Bubbles."  Although, those who were not able to get their hooves on a SDCC version will adore this molded version, I am sure of it.

Well... I'm glad I didn't actually put my order thru on Hot Topic's website. I was verrrry tempted (tho every time I went to do it, "Bubbles" went out of stock...). But I managed to hold off until I could get myself to one of my local Hot Topics... and they had them! :D

I uploaded some different angles of each one... so have a look! :D

Size Comparison... ^.^

However... as completely AWESOME as they are... And as much as I'm DYING for them to release many, many more characters (C'mon! finish off the Mane 6! Do Rarity! Do Fluttershy!), I have to say that in some ways... I'm ever so slightly disappointed with them...

I honestly prefer the shape and contours on the Fashion Style Ponies' heads. To me... they just flow better, and have a cuter look to them...

But... the overall design and slimness of these new vinyl gals... is definitely more reminiscent of the show aesthetic. I just can't help feeling, that their heads are a touch on the "oversized" side...

Then, the cheeks... I really am not a huge fan of the added cheeks. Especially when every straight on shot in the TV show has their faces evenly rounded. (http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/sup3rtroop3r01/Rainbow%2520Dash/Screenshot2011-02-19at83835AM.png)

Next... for all their detail... a more "active" pose would bring so much more "life" to them. I know, given the nature of the molded hair, and how it's glued on... turning heads are basically impossible, but boy would it be nice...  Maybe that's something they can work on in the future. ^.^

And then there's "Bubbles'" tail! OMG... it's as wide has her head! Really!?

Also, it seems as if the people on the production line didn't push, or mount Rainbow's nor "Bubbles" tails all the way in their rumps. There just seems to be an excess of "tailbone" left sticking out. Maybe I'm wrong... but it just seems to me as if they should fit in more... *shrug*

Lastly... poor "Bubbles" Cutie mark... they "stretched" it down her flank... so all of her bubbles are elongated. AFAIK, this is not just a factory error on a single pony; all of the "in hand" photos I've seen have it this way...

But for all that... they ARE awesome! I love their size! I love the feeling of holding them in my hands.... and I LOVE the hair styles!

From what I can tell... Forelocks and manes are cast in different pieces.... so I can see them easily using Rainbow's forelock, with Bubbles' mane. Add to that a different tail, and you have a new pony. ^.^ So many possibilities!

Another added perk... these gals are cast completely out of the same plastic. Though it MIGHT occur, I really don't see them having the same head/body mismatches that the brushables are prone to (since the brushables have heads and bodies that are made of different plastics)...

But... hands down... my FAVORITE part about these two... their WINGS!!!! :lovey:

I love the G4 brushable Pegasi for their adorable wings! So much nicer than we've seen for past generations. These two... take it a step up! The wings are absolutely accurate to the animation design, and that makes me unbelievably happy!

Overall... I absolutely see these guys as Hasbro's answer to the clamoring of the community for more accurate collectibles, geared towards an older audience. They are packaged in trendy designs... and not slathered with pink!

The brushables are awesome! And without them... we never would have gotten these ponies! They are, and always will be Hasbro's bread 'n butter. But now... we can have "show accurate" representations of our favorite characters.... at least... we can hope they continue this line and give us MORE!

Though honestly... given the INSANITY of how quickly :muffin: Pony has sold out online... I can only IMAGINE that Hot Topic is just RAKING in the $$$ here! We can only hope that after this week, they went to Hasbro and said.... "We want MORE! We MUST tap into this marker further!"

I can't wait till we see DJ Pon-3! (someone mentioned she was in the works)... I'm DYING for a white Unicorn body, so I can customize her into Gusty! Though I suppose the "glasses" could be problematic...

I don't really fancy myself a "Brony"... though I understand why they prefer the more "show accurate" aspect. Personally, I prefer molded hair ponies simply for the sculptural aspect of it. I love having representations of my favorite characters that LOOK like they do in the TV show/movie. The more accurate... the better!

But... at the same time... the brushables bring back a nostalgia that these Vinyl critters never will. After all, nothing really beats combing a brushable pony's mane when you're bored or to just zen. ^.^

BTW... They may have named her "Bubbles" online... but she rang up as ":muffin: Pony" on my receipt. ;)

Thanks for the closer pictures, Octocorn and Laydbrooklyn! They look awesome overall!

I wonder if these were produced in a hurry...? Usually, Funko's products are a little more refined. Ditzy looks alright, but the coloring on Dash's mane and tail looks a little haphazard. BUT... her cutie mark is facing a show-accurate direction! :)

Like Ladybrooklyn said, I also prefer the face shapes of the FS ponies. They're actually much more show accurate in that regard. The rest of the proportions are great, and the faces from the side also look pretty good, but that front-view is a little funny looking! The stretched cutie mark on Ditzy is something I noticed, too...

Still can't wait to get mine in the mail. I'm excited to be able to begin a Ditzy Doo collection! ;)

It is really cool to see some out of box pics with comparison to Hasbro's ponies. It looks like they would fit in well with the Fashion ponies so I may have to pick up some of those as my Rainbow Dash and :muffin: Pony I ordered from Hot Topic will hopefully be here this week.
I do have a question though. Do the eyes look like they are painted or stamped on like the Hasbro ponies? I don't have a computer just my iPhone so I can't get a real close look at them.

It's pretty hard to see, and its stretched out to the point where it doesn't really look like bubbles.

Mine came in too, and have the same problems.  I ordered multiples for other people and each one had issues, from scratched eye paint, mis-aligned painted areas, dirty areas and mold flaws. The mold itself looks choppy. I don't know if this is typical of vinyls, since this is my first one. The thing that bothers me the most is the round spot on RD's cheek; it's probably from the mold channel used to fill the mold, but I wish they could've put it in a less obvious place.

But I like the overall style design. I like Derp.y's hair and stylized symbol.  I hope they make more, but also hope they tighten up on quality control.

I'm kind of disappointed that these don't look exactly like the photos of them on the site. The fact that :muffin: Pony's cutie mark doesn't look the same (besides being stretched, it also looks to be a different, larger scale) is sad. It was bad enough that they didn't bother with the cutie marks on both sides, especially considering the price of them (I think even the $5 Hasbro ones should have them on both sides, but I can at least excuse that because of the cost) but to mess up on the only one is pretty bad. And hearing about other issues is worrisome.

I haven't got mine yet (supposedly, it shipped Saturday, but it just says "electronic info received") but I hope it's not too bad overall. At least with the badly printed cutie mark I won't feel so bad about displaying her facing the other side. I had thought about doing it anyway since I like how her hair looks better on the NDS, so I guess that's what I'll do. If I were better with paint, I'd just go ahead and add her cutie mark on the other side.

Got my RD inj the mail today, I am in love! Her DS eye is missing a little paint, but I'm not picky, her light blue plastic showing underneath hides it well. Funny how her NDS has the more accurate colors on her tail and mane, and her bangs (and tail) are only missing some red paint, like they forgot to mi up some red at the factory. Not a huge problems to me, but I may get an extra one some day to paint. The blue in her hair is the base color of the plastic anyway, not like they painted blue in her bangs, just that they forgot to get red.

I got a RD and Bubbles today (I made additional orders to help out some others who are still in transit oddly) - they do have QC issues but I really like them anyway- they are super cute!  They are also much smaller than anticipated- I was thinking they would be FS size but they are actually halfway between brushable and FS- so a new size!

The packaging is pretty too- it is not taped shut so the pony can easily be removed for inspection without destroying the box- which I like.

Actually- I really think that the price of $14.50 is REALLY good- the pony is really heavy and solid- and it is an original sculpt (not a re-use of an old mold) the colors are good too-

I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining- I just thought that it would be fair to mention that the QC issues are there- just in case someone was expecting a perfect product and was enraged to find a scuff mark or something.

I LOVE that both "Bubbles" and Dash have entirely different molds- even though they are both pegs (the makers could have easily cheaped out and just made one a repaint of the other)

I also love that they tried so hard to make the ponies look like the cartoon- I think the flaws are minor- and I am definitely looking forward to more!

Also - I love the packaging- it is perfect for display..

I really hope that Funko makes the whole line! (Although I think that is probably unlikely)

Thank you for answering the question I had about the eyes. Mine are waiting for me at home but I am stuck at work for another hour! The word is that Vinyl Scratch or DJ PON-3 if you prefer is also planned. I really hope that this line sells so well that Funko keeps making them. Or at the very least maybe Hasbro will see how well they are selling and will start making more show accurate ponies with molded manes and tails.

Mine were both a little dirty upon arrival, but nothing a damp washcloth wouldn't fix. The only problem I see is RD's eye on her left side is all fuzzy, like they sprayed outside the lines. It's not terrible though.

I reallly like them in person! The sculpt is so nice, and they feel heavy and solid.

Absolutely! Yet, I may have jumped the gun. The eyes really look like paint because the plastic is kind of rough but upon further inspection, it looks like it may actually be like a silk screening type of process. Or maybe a stencil. Still, it is not a print or sticker like the Hasbro eyes.

Also, the cutie mark is is backward on RD. (Same with the plushes by Funrise.)

Yes, this is one of the few cases where RD's cutie mark is actually show accurate. For whatever reason (my theory is the toy makers don't watch the show, which seems likely) the toys of RD have always had her cutie mark mirrored the wrong way.

Haha that is too funny! I suppose it is another reason why we can say that this can be considered more show accurate than Hasbro's own creations.

I love their size and weight! they feel so solid. The sculpts are wonderful- really detailed. However, QC is a real issue here. On my RD it doesn't look like the vinyl was mixed well, it's 'spotty' plus she's dirty :/ Their bodies just look...dirty?
I'm going to give them a wipe down and see if that helps...
The packaging is lovely- it's not taped and it's easy to pop them out. Re-usable! And I actually liked the price- I thought they'd be more. Overall I am happy and want to see more of these!

Also, the cutie mark is is backward on RD. (Same with the plushes by Funrise.)

I think Dash's cutie mark is correct to screen, but not to most of the other toys made of her or half of Hasbro's stock artwork of her.  :P Poor RD!

Yes, this is one of the few cases where RD's cutie mark is actually show accurate. For whatever reason (my theory is the toy makers don't watch the show, which seems likely) the toys of RD have always had her cutie mark mirrored the wrong way.

I actually believe I remember it being proven that Hasbro has zero idea about what goes on in the show. It definitely explains a lot. :P

I saw on EQD they said :muffin: Pony was added up again when she wasn't supposed to and they oversold her by 56. I was worried I was one of them since I didn't get a chance to order until Saturday morning. But I didn't get an email cancelling my order and I got a shipping notice with a tracking number, though it's still stuck on "electronic shipping info received" which is the reason I was worried.

I'm absolutely loving how cute they are! <3 =^^=
I suppose they must have their reasons, but it's a bit annoying that they don't accept PayPal from people outside the US. Argh, bring these to the Netherlands! Why do we always miss out on cool stuff or have to wait so long? ;3;
If anyone wants to trade their Bubbles & Rainbow Dash, please shoot me a PM. I can trade with G1 Italians, G4 Sweetie Swirl, wave 5 blind bags and G4 Rainbow Flash + Dash in package. Possibly other stuff too.

Mine arrived today!
If anyone still wants to see more pics of these two I have some here
http://www.flickr.com/photos/3377345/sets/72157631787146419/

I like them a lot and like others have mentioned they have a nice weight. There are a few small flaws (paint specks, dirt marks, gate marks) but overall I'm happy with them. The only thing that kinda bothers me is Bubbles cutie mark doesn't look at all like the proto image on Hot Topic's site. It's paler and stretched out and no shine in the bubbles.

HawaiianRain, her hair looks so nice like that! I don't know if I'm brave enough to do that to mine

Oh no- that is exactly right!  The HT online store describes her as "Bubbles" - although the receipt says "DERP Y"  -  and on the box- neither one!

It just says I [Heart shape] [gre peg head shape]

It's just a little odd that they are using both names - maybe to make everyone happy :D

Yes! I do like the idea of her name being Voldermort! Also, HawaiianRain, your RD looks so good!

I also wanted to pick up some from my local Hot Topic for people here on the forum but when I went (the day after they got them in), they were already sold out. The saleslady told me they got ten in and they all sold that day!

It makes me wonder if a few people cleared them out to scalp them or if there are actually more pony fans in my tiny town than I thought.

Sandi- you can buy them through hottopic.com-  but since you are overseas you have to follow-up with a telephone call to Hottopic to complete the transaction (at least that is my understanding)

RD seems to be in stock- and Bubbles/Derp y /Ditzy  seems to come in and out of stock (mostly sold out)

Here is the description for her Derp y on Hottopic.com!

MY LITTLE PONY BUBBLES VINYL FIGURE

This adorable vinyl collectible features the likeness of the character known as :muffin: Pony Hooves by the fans of My Little Pony - also known as Bubbles, Ditzy Doo, etc.
Approximately 5 1/2"

Hawaiin Rain, I looove your RD! Good job! ^_^ Makes me want to attempt to paint one myself--even though I'd be bad at it lol.

So many names! :muffin: Pony, Ditzy Doo, Special Pony, Gray Pegasus, Best Pony, and Bubbles. It looks like her name will forever be unofficial. Even Enterplay left her name blank.

Well on the official Enterplay check list they name her Special Pony. XD Lame name is lame.

You would think by now Hasbro would just settle on a name, make it official, and be done with it! Instead they let every company put their own little thing on it. Gets confusing, especially for us waiting for an official decision. I think you're right, they're just never going to name her, to avoid the backlash of their decision. Grrr. I hate the name that is most commonly used for her, but I'd even accept that as her official name if it meant we'd finally get an official decision from Hasbro!

It makes me wonder if a few people cleared them out to scalp them or if there are actually more pony fans in my tiny town than I thought.

Most likely, PA! I can't imagine them being sold out that quick unless someone (or a couple someone's with the same idea) bought them to make a quick buck on ebay. >.<

I love how everybody's just blatantly prancing around the name filter, like it wasn't put there for a reason...

It's fine, no one is using it as an insult. That's her canon name. It always will be.  ^.^

I use it because it's her name. Rainbow Dash called her :muffin: Pony on "The Last Roundup" and it doesn't get anymore official than that. She didn't call her that as an insult, she said it because that's her name. I think of all the other names as just nicknames for her.

I got my :muffin: Pony figure today. Luckily, it appears that I got a nice one. Her only issue is there's quite a bit of glue around the neck seam on the display side. I'm planning on displaying her on the other side because her hair looks better anyway, so it's not such a big deal. I really wish they hadn't screwed up on her cutie mark, though. Besides the bubbles being stretched out, there's no shine in them and there's only 5, when there's supposed to be 7. You'd think that since this is being aimed at collectors and not kids, that they'd make sure to get the details right. I also don't like how the vinyl isn't smooth. There are marks and just general unevenness in the whole figure. Is this normal for vinyls?

My understanding is that the auto-substitution was made when there was a lot of drama and posts about it so it was instituted to cut down on the drama.  At least, that is the only explanation I have received and I have asked several times.

Also- back in the day I think that there may have been objections to the "use" of this name because some thought it incorrect/unofficial/etc-   and there have been some clarifications since that time (IE from Lauren)

At any rate- it is the name that appears on the receipt-  it would be confusing (and a bit stupid I think) to use "Ditzy Do" as the name when the discussion itself relates to the fact that HotTopic seems to be using both Derp and Bubbles- which is neither - lol

ANyway- why raise a fuss now?  Seems better to keep this thread about what it is about- the ponies :D

On that note- I am loving my figures! I love the RD repaint above so I might copy... but really, it's not too bad-

I love that they got the symbol right!!! (speaking of annoying words- cutie mark- shudder)

My :muffin: Pony/Bubbles is actually perfect- she had some scuff marks but they came off right away-

I can't WAIT to see DJ Pon (or whatever name that one is I can't keep track) -

I am thinking that since HotTopic caters to a non-mainstream crowd- we may be more likely to see Octavia and other odd characters which is cool-  I know I said I was tired of the mane 6- but I actually would love to see all of them too :D

I went to Hot Topic today, the four RDs they had all had the same paint or casting flaw on her cheek, it would have been a deal breaker if I had wanted to buy one.  The two Ditzy Doos (MINE NOW--MWAHAHAHA), while not perfect, were much better.

They should make a family set with the Doctor, Sparkler and Dinky.  I bet they would sell a few of those.

Also, I want an Octavia standing up with her cello.

Um, no it won't, thanks. It's called respecting your fellow Arena members, some of whom find the name offensive, which is why the word filter exists, ok? The name caused an issue, so it'd be nice if everyone would stop putting periods in and everything to get around it, because that's not cool.

In any case I got both of these figures and I love them. I did see smudges etc., but I don't mind really. I just like that they made them too much to be bothered.

Got Rainbow Dash rather easily, she didn't seem to sell out very quickly and was available. I got the other pony (who shall remain nameless in these forums I suppose, despite my personal preference) during a very short window of time, they went out of stock again within minutes.

I've got to say, they did a great job with *that* pony. Her eyes are perfectly crossed and having only one color on her mane and tail really helped the quality. Can't wait to see them do one of other ponies, hopefully more of the mane six or Vinyl Scratch/other unicorns.

Got little miss :muffin: Pony Hooves today and she is adorable! Those saggy grandma cheeks I was worrying about aren't that noticeable in real life.  :P visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Don't ask what :muffin: Pony's doing in that photo because I have no clue. Lol. Only thing I kinda dislike is that there are a couple tiny black specks in her mane and a little seam of glue around her tail. BTW I love the wings they are using for :muffin: Pony and Rainbow Dash, looks way better than those awkward Fashion Style wings.  >_< I love how heavy they are, too. I could knock someone out hehehe. Another awesome thing is on the bottom of the box, on the sticker, it says ":muffin: Pony" on it. I'm happy they're getting more comfortable doing that. Just like the description called her ":muffin: Pony Hooves, Bubbles, Ditzy" ect. So everyone can not get their panties in a wad reading the description  One last thing, she's actually dusty bluish, which is D.erpys actual colors. Lots of people portray her as gray. :muffin: Pony also uses a different hair mold *obviously* than Rainbow Dash's, and I like that. It shows they want to get her as right as possible for us.  Now to get a Rainbow Dash. "Careful :muffin: Pony!"  ;)

BerryPunch, seriously, can you please stop being passive aggressive? The word filter for this name is put here for a reason and you are completely ignoring the fact some people are uncomfortable with this, like me. Which I just said, and some people agreed with me. Please respect your fellow members. I know respect seems hard, but really? You made an entire post spamming the name and ignoring all of the above? That's just being mean, now, come on.

ok just to clarify for the final time, the filter was put in place purely because of all the drama it caused. There was thread after thread after thread about her name etc and to be quite honest it was getting completely ridiculous that we were spending 99% of our modding time baby sitting threads about one pony and it's name. I'm sure most of you can see how much time that took up, when there are a 1000 other threads that need answers and participation.

However seeing as there are ways to get around the filter and it's still causing arguments, I will be deleting any further attempts to get around the filter. Let's please get this thread back on topic about the pony, rather than the name ;)

If you have any further questions about the filter and why it's there please feel free to pm any moderator or admin. :)

If you don't like it, why not just ignore their posts? No one's forcing you to read it. I mean, if someone was writing something that was upsetting me for whatever reason, I just wouldn't read it. Plus, by responding like you are, you're just encouraging them to do it more.

Seeing that the warning party added has been ignored (continuing on the name and not getting back on topic), this is now locked.
