Kay. Hopefully it'll be good.

I also heard that the people who animated Castlevania will be doing this. Castlevania, despite some of its issues looks amazing, so that'll be an assured plus.

No. Its a sequel.

To which version? The original or the later remake?
Because when the later remake was airing the original got a bunch of DVD releases here, then it petered out and disappeared into oblivion. I haven't seen most of the original series since the 1980s, but I remember the last remake was a lot more serious.

Although it did handle the origin story properly (original just jumped in) and it did some good stuff with the sorceress, it lacked the humour of the original.

As a kid I am pretty sure I liked heman more than shera though I watched both. It will be interesting to see what comes of this. I probably should watch more of the new shera but the animation annoys me so much I find it hard going.

My childhood is ruined!!!!!!!!!! including the liveaction movie

Tbh, I am sad this is not done by the same people who make the new She-Ra. Kevin Smith and Noelle Stevenson seem to be polar opposites so I doubt there will ever be a crossover.

Finally, I have no patience for grimdark He-Man. He better be pracing around in his purple Prince Adam costume or else this show is TRASH
The other He-Man reboots tried to make him "cool" and they all flopped.

Well they probably hafta keep it kid friendly. The CV people are only animating it. Idk if they're doing the dialogue? Having He-Man and crew acting like a bunch of bored, crass  and depressed Trevor Belmonts would be very weird.

They're doing a new live action He-Man movie too.

I never implied that the animation studio is writing the series
But show me a He-Man reboot that didn't try to make him into some kind of badass. The new series needs to be extra campy, especially since it is supposed to be a sequel to the original and not a new version like Dreamworks She-Ra.

A sequel to the original? Seriously?

Well... We’ll see, I guess. I would have preferred a full-on reboot, honestly. I seriously doubt anything new will “mesh” with the old, (lovably) campy cartoon.

Side-note on Grimdark!He-Man: The original pack-in comics and such were actually quite serious. Technically speaking, the classic cartoon deviated hugely from the “original” canon. So I can accept MOTU either way. XD

Oh, my bad. I misunderstood you.

I never watched the 90s He-Man reboot where he had the ponytail (ha ha ha wow) but I did watch the . . . 2000s? I think? one where I believe he was voiced by Cam Clarke.  I really wanted to like it.  And it's not like it was terrible.  But I rewatched it recently and it felt kind of generic and . . . boring.  I can't really articulate why.  It just was a chore to sit through.

So yeah, I too hope they keep the campiness and silliness of the original He-Man.  To me, that was the biggest strength of the show.  That and the epic "I HAVE THE POOOOOOWER" transformation, which blew me away every time as a kid.  I also loved they gave Skeletor the voice they did instead of trying to make him have a deep ominous voice.  It was perfect. :P
