Brazil (Estrela) Prototypes?
« on: June 11, 2023, 08:00:37 PM »
I was browsing Mercado Livre (mainly looking for Susi dolls) and came across these two ponies, listed as Estrela prototypes, that I haven't seen before?
According to the description, they aren't customs (and don't look to be either) but I didn't think we had seen any prototype Estrela ponies before?

Whoa! Those are some striking girls! *__* Looks like they have a prototype Applejack, too.

What fantastic colours! Thank you for sharing pictures of them :)

The blue pony looks very much like the Brazil blue Sprinkles that showed up recently (on Facebook).

I personally think at least the blue one is dyed due to the blotchyness in the second to last photo.... it could be poor lighting but I am not 100 % convinced they are legit

Also the bodies closely match the hair colour... I think if you dyed bluebelle blue you would get that green colour for the hair and cotton candy a magenta you could get that pinky hair. I have dyed some ponies before and the hair always comes out different to the body

The white of the eye normally wont take dye hence why the eyes are still white.

Furthermore I haven't seen estrela use those hair colours before, I get that prototypes can be anything but they all tend to have hair colours which can be matched to earlier or later lines.

Anyhow aside from that I hope I am wrong, it's always exciting when a new pony pops up

nhal I thought the blue one looked quite blotchy/dyed, too. I'm definitely not a Nirvana expert though (I especially don't know anything about Estrelas) so I will defer to others.. but I admit I'm not totally convinced by them either.

There is a lot of discussion on FB about these ponies, I am struggling to keep up with everything that is going on right now.

Thank you for sharing those posts Panda

It's a strange time the seller looks to have what I believe is a legit blue sprinkles  but sold one that is confirmed by buyer to be dyed so it seems she is selling 'real' protos and 'fake' ones.

thank you for posting here I admittedly am not one to keep up with FB and got lost as to what if anything the community had figured out but yes tend to agree with you that there are both dyed as well as perhaps real prototypes out there floating in various collections now.  Was anyone able to confirm the sprinkles as legit?  I always wondered why that one wasn''t blue given it was a water toy (I mean adult me figured it was to make the symbols stand out more but than melody didn't have that issue as all green ... but anyway)

overall I hope there is a way to capture any legit history of estrella ponies I do so love it when ponies in the wild turn up to help piece together a bit of MLP history

admittedly might be a thread killer already but there seems to be more than sufficient evidence to support the dye sich as someone kindly cut into a former CC (inside at the neck ring so no harm done!) to reveal the original color underneath and the seller has dug herself a hole pretending to have Estrela correspondence that is clearly not from the business so overall I believe there has been sufficient notice given throughout the MLPcommunity as to buyer beware

Thank you for posting MCM.

I have not really been able to keep up with what has been going on with these Brazil ponies. There have been a lot of posts and threads on the topic. I have even seen people dying Brazil ponies and Brazil hair to see how it turns out.

The fake Estrela correspondence though  :yikes:

I honestly don't think the seller expected the pony community to be so thorough and resourceful.

It is a real shame for the people who bought ponies from her, and I wonder how this will have damaged the market and any potential "true" prototypes that have not been found yet by the community. We all know it can be a gamble with nirvana ponies and risk taking is part of collecting. Man, she even had me at the start when I first saw those ponies :(

I know this is a bit late, but I just saw the "prototypes" on eBay today. Naturally, I wanted to check if they were real or not here first! I'm so glad y'all made this thread, since I don't have a Facebook account and have no idea what goes on in that community.

It's sad someone would make fake prototypes like this...

Thank you for keeping everyone here informed!

indeed.  what really astounds me is HOW MUCH WORK it is to create fake paperwork, lie to people, and then remember all your lies.  if this seller had Brazilian common G1 ponies, they are still worth something!  why not sell them for what they are?

So true! It's not like Brazilian ponies go for pennies. Plus you'd be making whoever bought them happy, instead of sad and disappointed.

Just glad so many members here share the belief "honesty is the best policy."
