Thrift store finds have been few in these parts, but on Monday we managed to find one of the recent G1 reproductions. Firefly's hair combed out just find, except for few strays, and the dirt on her was light, so she should do just fine for a display model; we already have a MIB copy stashed away. However, because there has to be a however otherwise I wouldn't be posting, she has a stain on her back which is suspiciously shaped, positioned, and colored like her ribbon's to blame. Before I cleaned up her tail and rearranged the ribbon, it was smashed flat and twisted 90º like it could have been pressed against the body when she was packaged. Has anyone else seen discolorations where the ribbon might be the cause?

Yesterday, at our favorite thrift store, my wife found this very determined looking ballerina: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginHer head swings freely while her neck has a return spring. When pressed, it produces the effect that she's bowing, or perhaps just grazing. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginHer mane contains another thread like for a second decoration, and there may be the remains of a third in her tail. There's a single part number on her belly, but no manufacture name, date, or country of origin. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Every Monday is "customer appreciation" day at our store, which means 50% off, so I'm always sure to check. They were pony free last week, but the trip this week was worth it. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThe smaller ponies were bagged with a few other toys that have subsequently re-donated. The whole lot was under $9 before tax. Everypony was in decent shape, although Applejack's ear has some nasty black mark on it. Big Pinkie's hard to see above, but here's what her mane and tail contained: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginThey've no markings on them, so I'm not sure if they are MLP accessories and/or if it's part of her original set. More research needed.

I am primarily a collector of G4 figures and other ephemera, but of late started to expand my collection into earlier generations. Prior to MLP, I've never really collected anything in quite the same way, although I've quite a few Pocket Dragons acquired in the early-to-mid 90s. The current pony collection consists of blind bags and the larger Funko figures, some Equestria Girls minis, plush figures of various sizes, a limited number of brushables and other miscellaneous figures, and random things that catch my fancy. Most of all, I love to bargain hunt and to fix things up.
G3s started appearing when a local second-hand store was selling well-loved ponies in bags; all kinds including fakes, completely disorganized. They came home because they were too sad to leave behind, and now I find I really like to clean them up and take the rat's nest manes and tails and make them look nice. We've got a restored Snuzzles (repro I rather sure), Minty, and a long hair Rainbow Flash. Her mane's pretty much where I want it, but her unbraided tail still requires attention. And while her CM is damaged, it looks like a manufacturing problem, I still love her.
Of the G4 figures, I try to limit myself to Rarity figures. I try... She's my favorite and it helps give the collection focus. While she's the focus, it doesn't mean I exclude anything, especially if it is on sale.
I've been to several Brony conventions, but I don't spend a lot on toys while there. Recently, I've started collecting autographs of the G4 staff. Someday I want to go to the Pony Fair, but it won't be this year.
I want to learn more about MLP history, the product lines, and the care and feeding of collections. Thanks for letting me stick my nose in.
