Claim payments in paypal?
« on: July 03, 2012, 05:04:57 PM »
I just BIN a pony and my payment is being processed. It should of went right thru, so I looked at the paypal transaction and the seller has to "claim" the payment.  Anyone heard of this?  The seller looks like she's been inactive on ebay for a few years.

Hmm.. I was gonna say that often happens if the payment is international and sent in a different currency.. but you are both in the US   I'll have to have a think about it cos another reason isnt coming to mind right now. I'll see what I can find out :awake:

Ok, I think when that message comes up it means the email is invalid.

If you ever sent money to an invalid email (meaning paypal doesn't have an account associated with that email) then you will get that message.

So maybe the email addy is on her account or she changed it or it no longer exists.

Cancel the payment. You will get the money back immediately (from my experience). Then message the seller and see what's up and ask what her addy is.

I just had one of these. We were both in the US. My seller 'claimed' the payment shortly after I had sent the payment. I think Paypal is doing something new.

Oh could be. My experience is when I would send money to an invalid email because I copied the valid one incorrectly.

Maybe it does have to do with something new. I wonder what it is?

I have had that happen twice.

I can't remember the first time, but it was claimed by the person. This was well over a year ago. I vaguely think it was international though.

The second time, it was due to I made a typo, so it was invalid email.
