Title: So er..another DH thread (sorry mods)
Post by: Yuitsu on July 19, 2013, 11:54:57 AM
So I ordered some hair, giving DH the benefit of the doubt as I have ordered from them before albeit some years ago and I needed the hair.

Now this is an international order, site states we get a tracking number when it's shipped, which will be within 3 days of order and it should be with me within 10-15 days.

Now on day 10 and nothing in my email or my actual post. I emailed Tina 2 days ago and as yet have had no response (junk has been checked - for some odd reason nothing goes in my junk folder, so I get an inbox full of spam. Wtf hotmail.)

So...um...do I now sit here and wait for Tina to see this (as posting here seems to get results 9 times out of 10. Really wish this wasn't the case), email again, or twiddle my thumbs for another fortnight and then think about filing through paypal for non-receipt of goods.

No harm in emailing again! I hope this gets resolved soon. :)

I've ordered 2 big orders from her recently (past 5 months). 10 days is a bit soon to be complaining in my  opinion. After it leaves the US it can take for ever to get through customs, and that's not in her hands. I say just be patient. Both my orders arrived in around 2 1/2 weeks give or take a weekend.

Yeah, but I think Yuitsu is saying she hasn't even gotten a tracking number yet from DH. Forget that it hasn't arrived yet, it looks like it hasn't even been shipped.

Definitely email DH again.

Yuitsu is in the UK though.  Can DH offer tracking outside of the US?

I always get a tracking number when I buy from Chinese sellers, and I believe I've gotten one from UK sellers before. Is there a reason it wouldn't work in reverse?

I'm pretty sure that only US shipping includes tracking. At least that's what the page said when I placed my order earlier this week.

For international it says order should arrive in 10-15 days

It's all going to depend on what shipping method she uses to send to the UK. If it is First Class then no there will be no tracking number. As far as Canada goes the USPS changed that back in January when their prices increased. They are as of now the only country I believe to have First Class tracking.

Yuitsu, I would probably shoot her another email with Urgent Response Regarding Shipping or something similar to that and see if she responds.

She doesn't give international tracking numbers.

Where does it say on the website about the tracking number?

Where does it say on the website about the tracking number?

I don't think it does, but she DOES say "They're shipped airmail l[e]tter post,..." and Googling airmail letter post (First Class Mail International, as it's known now) shows that there is no tracking available for this service.

Aha, here it is. Had to dig in my history to find it.
http://www.dollyhair.com/thankyou.htm

Don't know why I read it as shipping confirmation with a tracking number  - but still some shipping confirmation for international customers could probably be in order. (I used to get small parcels/letters from the states that were trackable until they left the states.)

I've only ordered 3 hanks so customs shouldn't be an issue (if it's en-route) as that'll be in an envelope. I hope.

Argh. I've been trying to get this hair since the beginning of June and it's only because MLC is still out of just about everything I had to go to the source as it were for a confirmed colour match.  >_<

I'll shoot off another email in the morning and cross my toes.

I think 10 days is jumping the gun a bit. For international shipments, I give 21 days before I start questioning it. That gives a week for their country, a week for customs and quarantine (any parcel could be randomly chosen for inspection) and a week in my country. Overseas post can take a very long time sometimes.

Yes, 10 days is jumping the gun. I got my order after 2 weeks, thats the average, sometimes it even take 3 weeks but there is nothing strange about it. Wait about a month, then you can start to worry.

But yes I have experienced the trouble with contacting Tina too, I have tried to contact her since a week ago without any response because I noticed that I had received 2 hanks that had been mixed with the wrong colors even though the site says it was newly restocked (more like over a half a year ago but still). I had ordered a hank of mermaid and a hank of lemonade/virgin snow and instead I seem to have gotten a hank of mermaid/daiquari ice (I cant confirm if it really is mermaid though, could be lucky clover for all I know) and a hank of virgin snow/yellow fever.... I sent her like 3 mails in case she accidentally missed it and I was quite polite so I dont think she would ignore me...and yet I have not received any reply...its a bit worrisome...

Emailing her again for shipping confirmation is a good idea, as is posting here :)  I wouldnt be worried just yet about the shipping time though. I think mail from US to UK rarely arrives as quickly as 10 days   - yes it does sometimes arrive in a week, but TBH its more likely to be 3 weeks  ;)

This sounds good to me. I would wait a few days before acting on it :)

little edit:

She doesn't give international tracking numbers.

I think you are right, i also never got a tracking code/number when i bought from DH.

Every time I mail something international I have to fill out a customs form and they have a tracking number on that. Not really sure how an international letter/mail has no tracking number. It usually for me starts with LC then numbers.

Post by: ponylady on July 20, 2013, 02:20:35 PM
Kas, your completely right but it will not track it out of the US. It will usually only show the time of acceptance at the PO and maybe when it arrives/leaves customs.

The only way to have any sort of a tracking number is for it to be sent Priority or Global express and those begin with CP or EC before the number, I am pretty sure

The customs number may not provide full tracking, but it can at least serve as a confirmation number. I think that was the OPs main concern, that she's had no confirmation that her order has been shipped.

As long as she has the receipt it should be on it. I always make sure to get a receipt even if something is pre-paid postage maybe you can just ask her politely to see in a manner that doesn't elude to you thinking she didn't ship it? I dunno I haven't had problems but I don't live overseas. Usually if I do ship overseas people let me know as soon as things arrive. International shipping has been taking a bit longer then normal lately I will say that. Took a package I sent to Argentina almost 45 days and one to a pen pal in Ireland 2 months. :\

When I placed my first order with her I never even got a shipping confirmation email. It just showed up 9 days after I ordered.

If your order is small enough you won't get a tracking number. She fully went above and beyond to make up her last mistake to me so I will be continuing to us her.

If you are still worried just keep emailing, she will respond eventually.

My last few DH orders always took 3-4 weeks.
And cuz I'm located in Germany (close to the UK) I guess that's the estimated time you should expect the arrival =)
And yes, that seems to be normal.

I got a response yesterday. I belive I know why she isnt replying. Her email is AOL, and its very unreliable. Two years ago I had immense problems with getting ahold of her because my emails did not get through.
She told me to send a message to her via sms, im not sure if it got through because Im in a different country. I did tell her that she should get hotmail or gmail instead. Here is her phone number that she gave me  818-531-2774.

It has usually taken me around 2-3 weeks to receive my order. I've never had any problems, only once I received the wrong hair, and even then she sent me the right ones for free and I got to keep the wrong ones.

And no, you dont get any messages/tracking number about your package after the order.  :) (if you dont live in the US)

I am also waiting on an order right now, I placed my order on 17th this month. I will let you know if it arrives or not.

I have a LOT of issues with people using AOL. Our primary method of communication at my job is through e-mail, so order confirmations etc etc all get e-mailed out. I would say that 85% of the people who report never receiving e-mails have AOL addresses. It really is horribly unreliable.

Dollyhair really should look into a more reliable e-mail provider if she's not receiving customer e-mails.

I have sent her another email....it has been 2 weeks since my order was placed. Considering she claims shipping within 1-3 days, and i am in the us, this is ridiculous.

2 week is normal shipping time for DollyHair, or at least its normally for me when I order. I wouldn't be concerned till Aug 2nd rolls around honestly.

I've been trying to contact her to find out the status of my order and I haven't heard back at all. It's been 5 emails over the last 2 weeks and it's a really big order. I just want to know if its been shipped out or not.

I'm giving it another 2 weeks, and if I've not heard from her or received the order then I'll be left with no choice but to open a paypal case (which I really don't want to do), plus I'll have to find somewhere else to order from that isn't constantly out of stock on every color available.

I've never received any kind of notification on shipping, but all my orders have arrive without problems in 2-3 weeks from placing the order. (I never really understood, though, why she would send shipping confirmations to US buyers but not international buyers... it's just an e-mail to say the order has been shipped, right?)

The US ones come with a tracking number. However, I don't really see why a confirmation e-mail couldn't be sent even without tracking. Just to say "Hey, your order was shipped on this day." I know it's probably automated for the US ones (though I generally never get one either) but I'm sure something could be worked out for international customers. I think it would add peace of mind and result in less worried posts like this :)

I totally agree.  :) Just a message saying the hair has been shipped would be great. Then we would know its out of her hands and not up to her how long it takes. It would make things easier even for her.

Opened a case. Let's see if she responds to me now, as my 2 emails have been ignored.

How long do I wait until I escalate to a claim?....tired of waiting on her at this point
