So, I discovered that my childhood sylvanians are actually not sylvanians at all. They are from a similar brand called Forest Families. I’ve found a couple more at flea markets lately too because in the 80’s these were obviously what sold here in the north ;) Do anyone know anything about them? They look really similar to sylvanians but have more “strange” animals. Such as parrots, turtles, pandas, tigers and beetles. In addition to the more normal ones such as bears, mice and rabbits, of course  I find them adorable!

Forest Families are awesome, we had Forest Families and Sylvanians here in the UK so my childhood collection had a bit of both. I wasn't around in the 80s but Forest Families used to pop up in charity shops when I was little.
Here's some stuff I found when looking up about my Forest Families:

I've been telling myself no for years  They are super cute! I've told myself if I'm ever going to get any it'll be the UK badger family or Cows since those two are a stable here in Wisconsin! Otherwise those cute persian kitties have been tempting me for ages

These are adorable!!!!

I have one Baby Bunny from childhood in a pram. I recall having a cottage and a rabbit family as well as some SF fakies.

I kind of want some SF now

They really are irresistible, it's disastrous! :P

I just took another picture, terrible quality, I know. But it was such a lovely sight! I had to take a picture right away. Mother squirrel saying hello to baby elephant!

I caved in and bought the country home when it was on sale. There's no high chair, so Jacques had to sit at the table like an adult!

I recently got the new Caramel Dog family and the girl's dressing table, so I took some pictures. :D Lousy quality as always, but I hope you'll enjoy them nonetheless. :P

The little powder puff is the most adorable thing I've ever seen, it's so tiny and detailed. *squee* :D

Forest Families are awesome, we had Forest Families and Sylvanians here in the UK so my childhood collection had a bit of both. I wasn't around in the 80s but Forest Families used to pop up in charity shops when I was little.
Here's some stuff I found when looking up about my Forest Families:

Whoa :whoa: I thought the Forest Families was the same thing as the Sylvanian Families! They were called "Dyrene i Bamseskoven" in Denmark and I remember them from back in the 80s but I never had any. When I saw Sylvanian Families in Danish stores idk 15-20 years ago I was positive it was the same thing as "Dyrene i Bamseskoven" - that they had returned but this time they had quit the Danish name and stuck to the original name. Boy was I wrong :P You learn something new every day.

I love the photos in this thread! They are soo adorable! :lovey:

I have a bear that I have always thought was a fake Sylvanian Families but maybe someone here will know what it is? Maybe it's actually a Forest Families? It can't move the arms and legs, only the head. I got it second hand in the early 00s.
This is the best picture I could find. It's the bear on the right.

I have way too many pictures - Calico Critters are my second biggest collection, after ponies. Here’s my latest addition: the adorable Dress Shop, which I managed to snag for a really good price on eBay, with all but a few original accessories and a ton of extra accessories. I’ve decided it’s run by the Tuxedo cats.

And re: Forest Families, I so badly want the parrot and crocodile families, but I’ve yet to see them go for less than $90 on eBay.
