My first Merpony...
« on: March 27, 2012, 11:23:23 AM »
Well I am currently customizing ponies as the 12 Zodiac Signs. I'm finally almost finished! I'm using their elements as the base for the pony and each sign's colors are incorporated.  (Cancer's element is Water, so I made a Merpony for this one. Their color is white/silver) She is my first every Merpony and I still have to make two more, so any suggestions are Welcomed!

She's pretty, the pose works well for a merpony. I love her colours and the jewels, as well as the crisp painting on the eyes! For the tail I'd suggest you make the scales lay flatter, fish generally look and feel pretty smooth even if you can see the individual scales. Otherwise the tail looks great. :) I love the subtle symbols you've painted on her tail!

I actually like the scales--they're unique and I love the amount of depth they give the tail.  Perhaps the tail could be fatter where it attaches to the body and taper down to the fins?  Regardless, she's pretty and the bold blue looks great with silver!

I like her! I think you did good with her tail scales and also like so much that Cancer cutie mark you added on it  :) just I agree with what Kanthaka said about how the tail is attached to her body...it looks a bit unnatural to me how you made it

Thanks everyone! I'll try making it fatter where it connects to the pony! I see what you mean now that it's pointed out :) Does it need to be higher up on her back too?... Seeing it now, it looks like it needs to be. For the scales, I think I'll make the next one different and see how it goes. Again, thanks for the Feedback!!

I love it. Keep the scales, but try to make the tail higher up on the body and maybe blend the paint into the body?

I agree, I actually like the scales. I think it gives it a good texture. I would make the tail a little higher up on the body and blend the paint, just to make it seem like a smoother transition from his body to his tail. Otherwise, he really looks great. The hair and his colors are great.
