Tropical Breeze
« on: February 02, 2013, 08:20:32 AM »
I have a sweet Tropical Breeze and she has a bit of a pink mark on her face:( I have sun faded but its been during the winter as I am new at it and want to go slowly.....but I heard pink pen/highlighter tends to not fade away:( I do not want to fully custom her...no repaint or dye...but she also has no hair....so I am thinking on what I would do about the hair. Should I try and find the match and if you know what that is please tell me:) Or should I go for something new?

So if you have pictures of her with her natural color of hair or different hair or in mint condition please post:)

Add any thoughts or questions. Every time I look at her she seems so sad....I want to have her feel pretty again:)

Here is a picture of her...she is a bit tucked away on the right:)

as far as I know, pink highlighter marks are one of the easiest things to sunfade. Granted, it does take time and winter is definitely not a good time to attempt it :) I say restore her ^^

It depends what the pink highligher is - I think we misname it a lot because unless an awful lot of little girls back in the 80s were wondering around or had access to pink highlighter pens which they put all over their ponies [except for the most obvious places of lips and eyelids] its not actually pink highlighter pen :)

I believe the marks can be caused by a couple of things: 1) staining from other plastics (such as saddle sores);  2) chemical breakdown. If you have a white shower or sink - check around the plug hole or the areas which get damp and you will see its super common for plastics when they break down to develop a pinkish staining. In addition its common in products which get oily and by that I mean which are handled as we all secrete oil in our hands - you ll often hear about it in ipod headphones or wii controllers the plastic and the oil are oxidised and a pink stain is left. Personally I wonder if sometimes thats what the pink on our ponies is - chemical breakdown in the pigment or plastic being oxidized.

If its the former and the pink staining is on the surface of the pony then yes sunfading is worth a shot. However, if like age marks its something in the plastic itself then you wont be able to sunfade it out. Either way its worth a shot!

Personally I would re hair her with her original colour - which I think is Firebird - as the bright red with blue is an awesome combination.

Good luck with whichever way you decide to go and I hope you post pictures of her restoration or make over :)

Thats not "pink highlighter" that looks like pen of some kind. Yay! Thats good because I would certainly try sun fading with her and I am sure it will gradually go given time - just make sure to cover up her eyes and forehead symbol :) Good luck!

I think she'd look great with some new hair, and apart from the ink, the rest of her looks fantastic!! But then, what's a bit of ink, I know I have some on me :P And that wing tutorial is great, roseprincess1 gave me the link the other day, really clear and easy to follow instructions :)
