Title: what to do against mold?
Post by: kingluke on May 07, 2018, 04:55:21 AM
hello,

everybody probably already knows the answer to these questions I've been asking, but I don't so here we go.
What exactly is mold on ponies and how do you get rid of it?

thanks in advance.

Mold is usually fungi and bacteria, making spots in the vinyl. In order to stop the spreading, the pony should be washed wish soap, then maybe with some antibacterial wipes and then kept in a dry enough environment.
This won't make some spots go but stop the spreading, you can take your chance to remove them with sunfading if your pony is not prone to sun burning.
Hope that helps.

Have a nice day !

It's much more likely to have ingrained dirt than actual mold unless the ponies were exposed to water...

Collectors call it "pindot mold" but I believe a member tested it in a laboratory and found that it was mostly just dirt.

Panic first, then consult people about what chemicals are safe to use on certain plastics before cleaning. Try not to hurl.

At least, that would be my strategy if I ever came a legit moldy pony. Mold grosses me out.

Mold in this sense is very vague? It could be age spots, it could be that the pony is covered in milder, or it could be inside of her. These things have different treatments.

I've seen some mildew covered ponies. Not fun.

I would probably think to use OxiClean at that point, or maybe some other antibacterial cleaner. Yuck.

Treat mold age spots with peroxide.

Ah, I've never seen a moldy pony, but I imagined as the slimy, creeping fuzz that you find when you've forgotten something in the back of your fridge. XQ
