This week I interviewed Brightberry. Thank you so much for participating!


Personal Interview-

Where did you get your user name?

It's from Berrybright the G2 pony.  She's nice and colorful, especially with her little baskets.  I'm sure if I was a pony, I'd have baskets too.

Do you go to school or work?

I work with graphics and do light website coding.  It's fun!


What are your hobbies?

Collecting toys in general, reading, gardening and drawing.

Do you have any pets?

I have a cat and a dog.  I've had that combo since I was a teenager.  Now home doesn't feel complete without both.

What do you like/dislike about yourself?

Like: I draw well enough to entertain myself.

Dislike: My knees ache too much to run any more and that was my favorite physical activity.  I also excel at procrastination, even when it comes to doing the things I want to do.


If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

At the edge of a shadowy forest near a beach.  Also, Pony Land.

Do you collect anything other than ponies?

Ponies and all kinds of dolls.  But dolls are relatively new in comparison.

How long have you been collecting ponies?

I was interested ever since G1 first came out.  But I had to wait.  I did see my friends get some as presents and I really coveted those ponies.  It's kind of embarrassing to think about.  It was the first time I met the green-eyed monster.

Why did you start collecting ponies?

I had almost no interest in toys at all until I saw RAMC.  I just had to find a way to pony land after that.  I'm still waiting for someone to say, "let's go, I know the way!".

Who is your favorite pony and why?

Glory because she was my very first pony.  I  remember picking her out from a wall of ponies.

Who is your favorite pony from another country?

I really like the collector's pose because the ponies line up so well and look like a rainbow together.  So collector's pose Bow Tie and Applejack from the UK.  I also love the alternate pose Birthflower Ponies.  But I'm satisfied admiring them from a distance.


What pony did you get recently?

Collector's pose Bow Tie from Artemesia's Garden. Yay!

What is your favorite generation?

G1 is my favorite for the nostalgia.  Seeing my first pony and knowing how long we've been together is like having a pony friend.

What is your favorite part about collecting?

Seeing all the ponies together.

How big is your collection?

Somewhere between 100-200.  I really don't know.

What do your friends and family think about your collection?

My husband doesn't get it but he likes that I'm happy with them.  My sister looks for her childhood Bubbles and remembers Glory. My brother gives me ponies he thinks are cool.  My friends really haven't seen my ponies. I've probably mentioned ponies in passing.

Do you still play with your ponies?

I pick them up and smooth their hair.  But I don't play like I did when I was a kid.

What rare or popular pony makes you ask why!?

I think why about Mimic all the time.  Mostly because I want her but not enough to buy her.  It is kind of funny to see so many listings of her declaring her rare.  I know why she's popular, it's just amusing how she got to that position and I wish it had been another pony instead.

If you had to have a pony symbol tattooed on your butt, which would you pick and why?

Confetti, as small as possible, but it would have to be glittery.

If you could have any pony remade in a different generation, who would you choose and why?

I would like to see almost all the g2-g5 ponies as G1.  I think that would be fun.

What has been the worst part about collecting?

Knowing that I cannot have them all.   I've made my peace with that, but it took a long time.

What is your ultimate collecting goal?

I'm really not sure.  I don't look at my collection and feel dissatisfied.

What is your biggest collecting accomplishment?

Managing to hold onto my childhood ponies. They came with me through numerous moves.  Thinking back on that, it was kind of crazy that aside from clothes and household items, they were the only things I owned.  There were times I thought maybe I should give them up as they were usually boxed up and I had not seen them in a while.

What is your biggest collecting regret?

That I couldn't afford more when they first came out.

Who is your grail pony and why?
Do you have it?

I've had more than one grail.  Bow Tie was one.  The other was probably is Mimic.  As a kid, I collected ponies by color and I didn't have any green.  I did eventually get Cool Breeze so I didn't feel too awful about it.

Do you prefer loose or MIP ponies?

Loose! There are a few I wouldn't mind MIP, but I really like holding my ponies.

Are you a customizer?

No, not really.


Would you ever be?

I don't think so.  I always end up liking them they way they are.

What are acceptable and unacceptable pony flaws, in your opinion?

I have ponies in my collection with discoloration, frizzy hair and paint scratches.  Whether or not I buy them online seems to depend on my mood and the price.

Would you rather have a bait pony or a fakie?

Bait pony.  I can at least clean it up a little and it might be one I don't have.


Do you watch pony shows/movies?

I've watched shows from all generations.  I don't always keep up, but I like them.


Do you read pony comics?

Yes, I read Transformers meets My Little Pony.  I just had to know.

What is the worst thing you've ever done to a pony?

Trimmed pony tails to make a new tail for another pony.
