BUDDY SYSTEM!  At last!! I got my little Squirtle standing next to me, he's such a cutie!!!

I've got a pikachu as my buddy for now, haha; I'm probably going to keep pokemon I don't find often (so mostly water types!) as buddies so I can get the candy for them!

We jad to go to Stanford yesterday, which meant crossing the bay.   I got a dratini, a krabby, and a goldeen to add to my handful of water types, I'm up to 96 in my pokedex now.

There's a lot of pokemon around here, but they are all the same ones lol... I'm over the 100 mark on eevee, sandshrew, pidgy, ekans, abra,  mankey, and geodudes!

Ah I want to keep my Rapidash as my buddy but I still need Blastoise and Charizard. Which reminds me I forgot to brag that I got a perfect IV Ponyta from an egg a while back and evolved her into a really strong Rapidash. I want to max her out but I need more candies! What to do. Guess I'll go for Charmander candies.

I have Haunter as my buddy because I need two more candies to evolve it into Gengar and I (oddly enough) haven't seen any Gastly around lately. Got one candy last night and I'm halfway to a second.

I do wish this update had included the new tracking system though. At this point I'm frustrated that they're adding things and not fixing existing problems. Not that I mind the buddy system, but tracking would be nice. I don't totally hate walking around and guessing for the most part, but that doesn't mean it isn't a little angering when you're looking for a specific Pokémon and it disappears from the radar because you're going the wrong way.

Pikachu is my buddy right now - although I'm debating switching it to Bellsprout or Weepinbell. I'm like 5 candies away from Victreebel.

My Weepinbell might be my next buddy because I didn't realize how close I was to a Victreebell.

Got the last candy I needed for Gengar, wooo! Yay for all the construction going on around where I work, forcing me to take a much longer walk around the parking lot and campus to get to my building.

It would've been so cool if the Pokemon would show up walking with you on the main screen. Just like the good old days of Soul Silver and Heart Gold.

Yup! That's partially why the Gen 2 remakes will always be my favorite games. I've been wishing for years that they'd bring that feature back and I'm sorta hoping it'll happen in Go. The buddy systems seems like a good stepping stone towards that.

I hope if they ever bring that feature back that they make it optional. I actually didn't much care for it in HG because it always had the first Pokemon in my team behind me, which was usually the strongest and not necessarily the one I find the cutest and would want following me.

Even still, I'll take Amie over that feature any day.

Amie is a fun feature that I think would make sense in Pokemon Go as well. I never had an issue with which Pokemon walked behind me in Soul Silver because it was just neat to have a Pokemon there, no matter which one it was. At least to me.

Also, I love how everyone was freaking out over Pikachu hopping up on your shoulder in Go after walking 10k with it, meanwhile there are other Pokemon that are already on your shoulder when you choose them as a buddy. I know Eevee is one of them, and I accidentally chose Weedle as my buddy when I was switching last night and it was up on my shoulder too.
