Something here looks familiar...
« on: September 04, 2023, 07:39:53 AM »
Okay so I was doing an online search for puzzles to do with my niece and I found this set of 12 unicorn mini-puzzles, which are cute but... I started to get a weird feeling when I looked at them....then it hit me.

Is it just me, or did the artist who did these definitely take inspiration from MLP FiM? There's a running unicorn with rainbow mane, an orange one with yellow mane, a white one with purple mane wearing a frilly outfit, and a pink one with curly mane! There's even two that look like Celestia and Luna. This can't be a coincidence. Or am I reading too much into this? ^^;

Some of them are pretty generic (like the rainbow-haired WU - that's closer to Starlite if anything) but yeah, that's definitely Pinkie, Luna and Celestia, lol.

Also this art is so pretty!!

Here's what I see. The others look similar to some Breyer unicorns that my daughter has.

She's definitly a MLP inspired artist with her piece titles! Artist is Rose Khan from Rose Cat Khan.

These most definitely look inspired. I'd be shocked if it was coincidental. The linked work has some more look-alikes.

That said, the artist's work is gorgeous!

Rainbow haired equines have been around for a very long time. Reminds me more of Whisper the Winged Unicorn and Starlite. The rest look more like Fantasy and Fashion Star Fillies. MLP is not, nor has it ever been the only colorful horse game in town after all.

They're very pretty! While the inspiration is definitely there, I think it works on its own as well :D

The first one is too similar to Starlight Glimmer to be a coincidence. Interesting choice, since Starlight was introduced very late in FiM life span. This artist is a viewer, not just looking up ponies for inspiration.
