picked up this girl (and overpayed for her) at the beach, didn't realize just how bad of a condition she was in, and am now doubling down by spending more money to dye and re-root her even though i've never done either of those LOL
i wanna make sure her color is as even as possible before attempting to dye, so what would be the best method for this particular girl?

Sunfading might be worth a shot before dyeing! There's some tutorials on the MLP Preservation Project.
-
Yes, sunfading is probably the way to go, or even a hydrogen peroxide bath. Just be careful with dye, I've accidentally stained other ponies by letting them come into contact with ponies I had previously dyed, it takes a while for it to actually settle!
-
i'll try sun fading her first then, i should put something over the eyes to protect them from fading too right? and i'll be sure to keep her on a separate shelf away from anything she might get dye on!
-
yes! both for sunfading and dyeing, i would put some tape over them to block both. just be careful in extremely hot areas because the sticky part of masking tape can melt a little, though you can wash it off real easy!

Rehairing's not so bad either, and a baby pony is a good way to start your practice with it.
Not too many hair holes so it doesn't take forever to finish or see progress. It's also a pretty cheap hobby to start with low cost supplies and tools. (Like the needle is a dollar most places, etc) If we can post videos I have a 'get started' one at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey1K8ysfXp8&t=270s that shows baby Dangle and all the things needed to do the rehair. (Someone had shaved her much like your Blossom)

My childhood Baby Blossom was way worse than this, super yellowed, and she sunfaded perfectly.

here's how she looks after about a week of sunfading, it's more obvious in person but the yellowing has faded a good bit!!! i might need to get some hydrogen peroxide for parts like the tips of her ears though, they seem a bit stubborn lol
-
shes looking much better! it always fascinates me how sunfading even works, you'd think it would cause yellowing, not fix it! :silly:
-
for real! what's even more baffling is that from what i've heard in some ponies sunfading DOES seem to make yellowing worse lol
also where are ya'll getting hydrogen peroxide cream? on amazon they only have like, giant containers of it lol, and i scoured my local walgreens but i didn't even know what section to look in @A@ would normal liquid hydrogen peroxide work as well?
-
i think hydrogen cream is sold at beauty/hair stores like sallys? im not sure if you have those though
