There, I said it.

I just didn't know where to write it.
I love the MLP Arena.
I love that we have so many kind members in here, I love that we have discussions on various topics, I love how caring people can be and how helpful we are towards each other. I love how admins are supportive and helpful when needed.

And I love the layout of this forum.
May it NEVER change.

Trader & Shipping Support / Ebay Option to request partial refund?

TLDR; I want to work out a partial refund with the seller instead of a return shipping and full refund.
Is there any way to do so through ebay nowadays? I can only find the full return & send back option and when I click there's no more options- only the "fill this in and we'll print the label to return the item to the seller".

What happened:

So I purchased a bunch of ponies that were dirty (knowing that they were dirty) through ebay.
Listed as used, no imperfections mentioned.
They looked ok in the photo.

When they arrived - they had MAJOR plasticizer leakage to the point where a purple pony had discolored others (that were not purple to start with). Not to mention the stickyness and smell.

I contacted the seller regarding this and that I was disappointed that they arrived in such a sad state and that there had been no mention of this condition. I asked them to get back to me with what we could do.

Seller replied with an apology and that they had noticed this and cleaned as best they could with an explanation that because of their age discoloring happens. They were sorry that I was disappointed and didn't want anyone to feel that they were being dishonest.

I thanked the seller for getting back to me and explained that as much as I understood their well intent discoloring isn't something that just "happens". That it's one thing that the plasticizer leaks and a whole thing all together not to mention it and bunch them up so that they discolor each other.
I once again said that it should have been mentioned as the offers given would have been done according to real condition of the item as the discoloration and leakage greatly devalues them.
I included the question of "how do you feel about a partial refund?" as that would be the best solution.
Since I have had them shipped to me from the states, shipping would cost quite a penny (and take some time) in order to get back to the seller. I feel like we would both loose out on a lot.
A partial return could compensate me for what is to come if I try to tidy the ponies up (with all the cleaning - bathing -boiling - soaking). They still wouldn't come to reach the value I paid but at least it would leave such a bitter taste.

Customs / First loop and lock rehair custom Baby Galaxy

So I have a friend who happens to have Galaxy as one of her favorite ponies and I thought to myself that after all the nice cheering I got with my first custom I should try to take on a more challenging one. And challenging she was.

I tried my first pony dye - it turned out ok but a bit darker than mommy pony. Will have to work on better timing and such.
Then I moved on to the new hair and made the discovery that not all of the hair I have feels the same and behaves the same. The GITD white is more yarn-y.
It took me 4-5 hours to rehair her and it didn't turn out perfect but still pretty good.

Last but not least were her symbols and eyes.
I didn't have gemstones to put in her eyes so she got metallic pink color instead to resemble mommys eyes.
And then I learned a harsh truth.
I am struggling with painting small things. And I am really bad with stars.
That aside I think little Baby Galaxy, who received Ursa Minor instead of mommy's Ursa Major symbols, turned out pretty well.
And my friend seems willing to adopt her so it's all good

And no, I still haven't figured out a good way to style pony hair so I will leave that up to her new owner.

Customs / My first custom rehair and symbol paint

So I have been wanting to customize ponies for well over 15 years now but have never really gotten around to it for the fear of failing the rehairs.

I tried the "easiest" rehair version (rehairing tool and glue on the inside of the head) just to have done a rehair and get my first custom done.
The one custom I did back in the day (20 years ago) was literally just a newborn fakie painted black with a symbol on it so that hardly counts.

This one was made from a really bad Baby Splashes with marks (no cancer), no symbol, faded rusty miscolored tail and mane.
Even though I know I need to get used to the paint and the rehairing process I am quite pleased with how she turned out.
Now to give her a name

Pony Corral / Was there ever a UK Collectors guide book made?

I have been looking for a collectors guide to go with the book that Summer Hayes wrote on the G1's released in the US.
I love the layout there and how it lists the pony accessories for each pony etc.
Has there been a UK Guide made like that?

Do you know where I can find it?
I would prefer having it as a book but if it's a web page - that would be ok too.

Pony Corral / Fading hair on Nurse Sweetheart?

Hello!

I recently purchased a Nurse Sweetheart in the hopes of her being an upgrade.
When she arrived she didn't have working symbols though so that was a bit of a disappointment.

However. I noticed that her hair color is completely different from the other Nurse Sweetheart's I have and that's what me wonder.
Can she fade to this color?

Have you ever had any other pony with that dark pink hair fade to this color?
My normal Sweetheart (7 tales) has been with me since childhood and she has kept her color just fine.
[Please don't mind the untamed hair on the "proper color" Nurse Sweetheart. I've been lazy and haven't fixed her hair into silky smoothness yet.]

I wondered if she was a rehair and thus contacted her 2 previous owners. Not a rehair. Her head is sealed tight so I haven't been wanting to tamper with that.

Please share your opinions and if you have experience with that hair color fading.

Clicking the link "Donations" in the left side menu does nothing but take me to the start page and reduces my left side menu to barely nothing.

Hi all!

A while ago I purchased this Trickles. Her previous owner couldn't tell whether whe was a custom or not.

I like trotters so I thought that I'd like her regardless but others who have seen her have asked the same thing : Is she an ooak variant/ factory flaw?

Her hair is really neatly rooted and her tail is still with washer and all.

I'm asking for your expertise, and if she turns out to be a variant - what would you estimate her value to be? I am not looking to sell her but would like to know for insurance reasons.

MLP Nirvana / Question about princess variants

Hi all!

Since I am not good with princess variants at all I wonder if there is a variant of Princess Royal Blue without any glitter in her tail.

I hadn't even thought about it until I received one WITH glitter in her tail.
Checked quickly on the MLPWiki and couldn't see mine.

Went to ToyCon today and met some fellow collectors. One of them knew that I was on the lookout for BF ponies and so he pointed me in the right direction.
Todays haul : 2 alt BF, 1 French Starshine and some common ones. Resisted the urge to buy the My Pretty Pony so they all fit in one picture

Help please!

I'm looking at a huge lot with tons of ponies in it and asked the seller to send me some closeups (although I only got blurry ones) and noticed how out of the game I am.
It's been such a long time since last I was selling things and the PC archives seem to only have things from long ago.

Assuming these are all in very good to mint condition, what would they be worth? I'm going to assume that no original accessories except for some brushes are in the lot
