Hi every pony,
Don't know if this has been posted yet, but I got to see in the new Hasbro trade catague today.... And I have to admit it is hugely disappointing .Unfortunately I didn't manage to take any pics or get a scan. This was the German version of the trade catalogue from
Nuremberg toy fair.
The only new products I noted were yet another bloody RC car this time driven by Rarity , towing a winged carriage/trailer with Winged Coronation Twilight on it! Lame!!!!! The only good thing about it was that there was a new Spike character that is standing on his hind legs.... Finally!
There was also a new NewBorn plastic headed plush wearing a tu-tu she was a
New character ( not princess Skyla) and she comes with what looks like tub of talcum powder. I think she must have some kind of function in her but I have no idea what she does. She is a pale pink or lavendar unicorn from
What I remember .
Other than that it was all the same images we have seen the new Crystal empire small castle with Alicorn Twilight ( Who's wings look like they really flap... Not like glimmer wings).
And that was about it.... Absolutely no sign of an new non core brushable .... And definitely no glittering transparent ponies :(
So nothing too exciting on it's way!

Darn. I was really hoping those glittery translucent ponies would get a wider release. :( Oh well, there's still a chance. Hopefully everything shown in the magazine isn't all there is going to be.

Looks like they Toy Fair is our last hope, and I am not gonna hold my breath for that one.

I want that car because of Princess Twilight and the new mold Spike and the Crystal Palace we've seen but I'm hoping this isn't it for new products. NY Toy Fair is in 4 days only. I'm still hoping they might come up with something more there.

I am hoping for good news from the toy fair. If it's the same kind of disappointment, I am officially done with the G4 line.

I can't imagine we will see anything different from NY toy fair, Nuremberg is actually bigger as toy fairs go... And I was also at London you fair I wasn't allowed on the HASBRO stand as it is all closed off, but there was a small window I could peer through, and there was nothing new that stood out in the pony section that I could see other than 1 or 2 licensed products.
I'm so sad at this, I can't believe what a horrendous mess Hasbro are making of this line. They are investing huge amounts in the most successful version of a MLP TV show ever and they are just throwing money down the drain with their absolutely lousy Toy development!
I am getting to the point that if something positive and some variety is brought back into the line soon, I am gonna walk away from a brand that I have loved for 30 years !:(

The only thing we can wish for now is some decent account exclusives!!! These may not be presented at toy fair as they are not available for all retailers to buy into.
Hopefully Toys r Us will have seen great results with both the collector set with Nightmare Moon and Zecora and will have demanded something similar this year! To be honest they are pretty much our only hope now! :)

To be honest, that Rarity RC car has been a long time coming (an early version appeared in last year's toy show iirc, but a Twilight Sparkle RC car got released instead. It's been in my wishlist for a long time!). As for the remaining ponies, most of them already appeared in the family room article regarding the princess coronation, so no big surprise. Only thing new to me is the newborn (so soft?) pony.

I plan to buy *one* version of Princess Twilight - just one Hasbro, so pay attention! - and then I'm probably done for a good long while. So sad. Why is Hasbro being so boring right now? Don't they realize this is what killed off the g3 line?

So I wonder what was up with the clear brushables? Do you think Hasbro made a small run of these and decided the clear plastic was too expensive so released the crystal empire brushables with normal plastic bodies and tinsel/hexagon glint eyes? If that's the case, I have to say that is a pretty big cop out. I do hope we end up seeing more characters but if we have to get re-hashes of the main six I'd hope they would at least be distinguishable in more ways than just tinsel hair.

hum I'm not sure that's the case if that's so G4 would have the shortest run ever even shorter than G2! They may jusr go in a different direction with the line we can only HOPE anyway time will tell

Oh, ok, I have seen that before. So long as they continue to make new pony characters, I will be happy. I am rather indifferent to the idea of human dolls. Didn't they make some prototypes of doll characters to go with the G1 mlp friends and then dump the idea? I wonder why they are going back to that idea now?

I'm going to be really disappointed if they decide to drop the brushables in exchange for human dolls or humanoid pony dolls. If it's a side thing then that's fine.

Curious to see what Hasbro plans to do. It would sort of make sense why we're really not seeing any new characters since the wedding line if they've been focused on developing this.

We did get shown a bunch of new MLP stuff recently. The unfortunate thing is that since it was revealed before Toy Fair if any of that stuff shows up there it won't be a surprise anymore. But at least we will be able to get better pictures. I'm still holding out hope for the rest of the Mane 6 as moveable ponies being shown there.

Hmm I thought we were in a similar situation when we only saw certain things like a new fashion style Luna and the wedding castle around this time last year.
Then at the New York toy fair they had fun things like Zecora and the Collectors set. 4 new brushables: Lyra, Trixie, Cherry Berry, and Sunny Rays were there.
I am betting we will have a collectors set at least and some new single brushables that have yet to be revealed. I can't picture Hasbro just stopping making single ponies. That is the essence of My Little Pony!

I wish it would be the end of G4. Honestly, the direction Hasbro is taking the franchise (and the SSC franchise with their introduction of "HuckleBeiber Pie" instead of a true-blue Huckleberry Pie to Strawberry Shortcake) doesn't work for me. If they end G4, I can hop off with absolutely zero remorse. Then I can focus on Tales and Core 7 G3 collections, and other things. I'm too neurotic, I can't stop collecting unless there's a generation change.

Maybe they"ll also create human girl dolls that will cosplay as their favorite characters from the show just like you see the fans dressed in conventions hence the name 'Equestria Girls'?

When I was a kid, I never bought the Megan and Sundance G1 figures. I bought the singles, the playsets, the pony outfits... but not Megan and Sundance. My MLP world was ponies only! XD
If the 'Equestria Girls' trademark is for a forthcoming line of human dolls, I won't be buying them. I wish Hasbro luck and hope the dolls do well for Hasbro sales, but I also hope Hasbro doesn't forget the pony part of their MLP line. Nothing but 'Core 6' brushables and then brand new humans for the rest of the G4 line is not going to make me a happy collector. (But it will definitely save me money, I guess!)

I remember when that trademark info. first came out and thought maybe "dolls" was used generally for a "girls toy" but I'm not sure I realized the earlier trademark does say "pony". I'm taking await and see approach to this info. because I don't want to worry myself over assumptions but admittedly the thought of humans possibly being introduced into FiM and the toy line makes me cringe a little right now.

It would be cool if they had FS ponies that could move their limbs. If that could count as a doll, I'm totally for it.

Remember back in the 80s when Hasbro first produced "My Little Pony"? How each year they would release new and different figures? True, many of those figures shared the same pose, and not every gimmick was that much of a great idea (like the Dance n' Prance and Soda Sippin' Ponies), but still they were trying to come up with all the different ways to keep the people (especially kids) interested in their products.
This here... this is all looks like Hasbro's creative drive has gone down the drain. I'm sorry, but re-selling the same figure with different accessories and in a new packaging is not being innovative. It's just being lazy and a major cop-out at that.
It's just as if they're being scared that if they're gonna tiptoe outside of their "comfort zone" and make something original, they're gonna lose customers. Which, in reality is quite the opposite.
I hope the situation's gonna change sooner or later... I'd hate to see one of my favorite toylines degenerate into this ugly sludge of blandness.

Oh I remember that Equestria Girls registration - whether thats to protect the trademark or for an actual line I dont think anyone knows for certain. However, HB do seem to like the Blythe/LPS set up so I dont think I would be too surprised if something similar came about. I would be in two minds - I am a massive Megan and Sundance fan so I think I would probably buy them but only if its a one off and not a completely new direction for the line, i.e. every pony comes with a doll - that would start to defeat the purpose of MLP for me.
And RAMChYLD awesome point on that Rarity RC car! I have promo shots of the car and Rarity from over a year ago and assumed they had switched it out for TS at the time...guess it was always in the running.
As for new - to be honest I think the main 6 trend is working for them - I expect to see a Collectors Set, a special figure release [probably Discord], 4 new brushable characters, a new way to release the CMC, a couple of new bolt on playsets and the car. Honestly...I dont expect to be wowed by anything else. Although I would love to be surprised!

Wow this is sooo interesting! I also heard about this Equestria Girls... Perhaps they're more like... ponies you build? Trying to take on some of the (and I know nothing about this but I've just seen them in stores?) MH build a doll type things? So... you could build whatever "pony doll" you wanted?

The sad thing is the toy fair is either gonna break it or make it for me. I no longer collect MLP just because of the line anymore. I see no point in reissues. It's not exciting to buy them anymore. Thanksfully the Monster High line is already looking fantastic for the rest of this year.
Here's hoping that MLP gets going again!

Interesting, as to what will happen only time will tell. Eventually we all will know, it just may take a little while. I like everything but will not be getting every thing so-soft or similar plushies I am not interested in. Princess Skyla may come home with me some day if I find her on sale as I do like her. I wish they would make her into a plastic figure.

They were probably a product that Hasbro had made to showcase during a pitch to their customers (Walmart/Target/etc) and the line didn't get enough interest for whatever reason. Or maybe the cost of production made the toys unfeasible. There is always a number of prototypes made for sales meetings/sending to designers/marketing samples that are made up before a line is approved for mass production.
I sure wish I had them all...

Also, just found out I won't be allowed any where near the Hasbro booth at the Toy Fair because only the "big guys" get to see the actual booth :( ah well... there will be enough leaks on the internet I suppose...

Considering the new teen angle that they are going for, I keep having visions of a revamping that includes making all of the characters humanoid ( like Thundercats). I could see how some would think that might appeal more to teens and would have the added bonus of featuring more fashion. And as some others have mentioned, pick up on the Monster High popularity.
Not really my cup of tea, though.

Well, if it is real, I'm hoping that this is just something that runs in addition to mlp and not instead of mlp. In fact, I hope that having these characters like this will make room for a new "traditional" mlp show with new pony characters.

I have a feeling that it will be "in addition to" - I am sure if you read through the comments from the investor report we got a couple of days ago, the implication seems to be. FiM continuing as normal. But then a new line aimed at an older market which will be launched with a made for TV Movie - Equestria Girls.

IF it's real, it's not as bad as I thought it could be. I like their skin being the same as their fur.
I like MLP for the ponies though. Little horses are just too adorable.

If it's real, I can only hope it simply is a side series, rather than replacing the current one. Personally I can't stand the thought of FiM becoming a high school drama. I got into it for the fantasy :/
I bet it is real, though. This situation reminds me far too much of what happened in the Pokemon fandom when the 5th gen starter's final evolutions were leaked.

In the same way you don't sell Strawbery Shortcake to 15 yo girls. It's all just not edgy or flamboyant enough.

all I can think of is it's like Hasbro is just sucha copy cat company = combining the whole littlest pet idea with monster high
like if the toy line is going to use a blythe doll thing like they did with LPS and the anthro images from that tumblr link are just really too similar to the whole high school MH cartoon... just yuk and so not what MLP is about
I like MH as MH and FiM as it's own MLP world - I really hope they don't try to collide those universes just for the sake of grabbing "market share" of tweens and up...

I'll only two things about this image
1. I hope it's only a side series I think it might do well as a web based series but I don't see it having the same market and appeal as FIM
2. If they make dolls like this I'll most likely get the AJ for my apple army I must admit I do like her outfit I might make one for one of my MH dolls just for kicks

In the same way you don't sell Strawbery Shortcake to 15 yo girls. It's all just not edgy or flamboyant enough.
I TOTALLY agree! If this is real, Hasbro must be out of its mind to think that dolls of these...creatures would be well-received by anyone over the age of 10. High schoolers that aren't toy collectors being interested in this is pretty much completely out of the realm of possibility.

I really really dislike that - IF it's what Hasbro is intending. NOW - I am going to put myself in the category that that is "fan-made", and just hope.

I suspect that whether or not it's official, they probably would give a generic "we don't have that information available at this time" answer or something. If it IS real, they wouldn't want to say so and give it away this soon. If it's fake, they probably wouldn't be like "yeah guys stop freaking out, everything's cool!".

Then again, Hasbroken has been doing some pretty crazy/stupid stuff lately, so it's still possible. Either way, they better have the sense to stop calling these "ponies". Bad enough G4 doesn't look much like a pony. I have a FRF Butterscotch - FurReal Friends Butterscotch - and comparing it to the real horses I've seen on my last vacation, that's a pony. The closest to it from the MLP franchise, I'd say, G3 or G1 Tales. But this takes the cake of pony InNameOnly.

No- they would not answer. The release of information about new/future toy lines is super regulated because of corporate espionage and the like. So they release just enough information to sell the product to get people excited and give just a bit more info to consumers such as TRU- and the rest of us have to wait to see what products that TRU (and the rest) pick up.
It's not just Hasbro that copies other companies- they ALL do it. Repeatedly.

Ahh, I feel bad. :( I'm really stoked over the idea of human dolls based on these characters, especially if they are high quality items, but it seems to be upsetting to a lot of people...
I think these designs, if they are legitimate, are adorable, but I'm not entirely pleased with them having the same body types and height. Then again, I guess, the FiM main cast was designed the same way.
Based on what was said at the investor event, I think Equestria Girls will be basically separate from My Little Pony, which is why they took out a new IP instead of slapping "My Little Pony" onto merchandise marketed towards teen+ girls, because if they are going to solely use human characters for this line, then "pony" has no place and they know that. I agree that Hasbro probably wants something to compete with Monster High's popularity and thought they could get ahead by using characters people already know and love (I've heard talk that Celestia will be included in this special as well, so no doubt other characters will come along in time if it's successful). If they thought they could rope long-time collectors and bronies in with it, clearly they thought wrong as from what I have seen, the vast majority of both groups are pretty displeased with the idea.
If dolls are what they're going for, I am also confused about it being geared towards teenagers (and older, they said, but I'm guessing teens are the main market here). As others have said, with the exception of teen collectors, teen girls aren't exactly snapping up dolls left and right, even interesting or "edgy" ones like Monster High. I honestly thought it was going to be purely merch when I first heard about the IP--t-shirts and the like. I don't know how well their products aimed at teens and teen girls sell at Hot Topic (shirts, lip gloss, wallets, nail poilish, etc.), but if it does well, then there was no need to take the pony characters out of it. I'm also not sure why they would introduce their teen line through Friendship is Magic, a show aimed at young children that airs on a channel also aimed at kids. That makes absolutely no sense to me, and I can't help but wonder if this leaked information was conflicted somewhere along the grape vine.

I really don't think this is a big deal. It's not like a show about human ponies would replace the regular show and toys. It's just a spin-off. It probably doesn't even tie into the canon of the regular show, just like a lot of other product these days. So people who don't like it can just...ignore it?
I think the concept is interesting. I'm curious to see what they would do with it if it is real.
I'm far more bothered about the fact that brushable toys, a real element of MLP, is getting so very ignored by Hasbro.

Hmmph... I don't like the idea of humans spewing from MLP. I didn't mind when G1 did it, but they had humans from the start, G4 does not. If this is released as a one-time go, I'd probably get Fluttershy for my army and that's it.
I'm just thinking, what if this is a look into G5? :shocked:

I doubt Hasbro would completely abandon the 'pony' in MLP, so we'll probably be able to ignore this incarnation of it in favour of FIM and move on--if it isn't some elaborate hoax, that is. Hasbro would have a lot of neigh sayers to contend with if they scrapped ponies entirely after all; which also means losing money in the process, and who wants that?

I would buy fluttershy and rarity dolls. If this was real :) this is what I envisioned upon hearing "equestria girls", or at least one of my immediate thoughts.
I'd still much rather have Brushable ponies, but thy are kinda cute.

I know EQD marked it as a rumour but I'm pretty sure it's legit at this point since that was taken from a magazine handed out at the Toy Fair.
The concept art (Trixie and that one of the mane six going around) is still unconfirmed, as is the movie synopsis.

Trixie's presence makes me think it's more likely to be a hoax. Very "fannish". To Hasbro, she is just another background pony.
I am also HUGELY skeptical of that "industry magazine". I really cannot imagine Hasbro greenlighting a second MLP cartoon (or spin-off) while "MLP FIM" is still airing. Webisodes maybe, or--more likely--a toyline without any media associated with it. But a second full-blown series? To air THIS SPRING??? It would already have to be SO far along in production, I can't believe that we wouldn't have heard ANYTHING about it before this point.

I'm not so certain that the presence of Trixie would necessarily mean that it isn't real. I mean if you are going to have a high school drama you have to have a "mean girl". Trixie fits the bill more than any other character.
On the other hand, the way they are almost all standing in the exact same position is irritating and to me is the biggest point for it being fake. Who stands like that anyway?

Oh the leaked info just keeps getting juicier. There is even a video of someone skimming through the Toy Fair magazine and showing that the article really exists in it.
Last time we saw leaked art of Trixie, people were very skeptical, but it ended up being true. Hasbro has made at least 5 toy versions of Trixie now? I am not so quick to discount these pics as being fake.
A spin-off series sounds great. Anyone who doesn't like the premise could just possibly avoid watching the spinoff.

I am skeptical of the Trixie image too. It may be a really well done fan vector based on the mane six art. But I also wouldn't discredit it. Trixie is a fan favourite and as BrightIdea said, Hasbro has noticed enough to make brushables and blind bags (in different moulds, no less!) of her. They even went so far as to change her name from Lulamoon to Trixie Lulamoon based on fan's reactions. That's not to mention all the licensed merch (trading cards, t-shirts, the Funrise plush prototype, etc.) of her. She's not an unknown pony by any means, and she's a cash cow to boot. It wouldn't surprise me if they included her in the show.

Wait, didn't they try this for batman too? Like Harley, Ivy, and batgirl were all cheerleaders, Joker and Two Face were running for class president, and cat woman was the school's goth? They made art for it but it never got anywhere..... maybe this will be similar?

I really hate the whole "they all look basically identical except for the hair" thing. Some of those outfits... come on. AJ in a skirt? Please. She'd totally be wearing jeans. And the shoes up to the knee... why?

I think it's totally real. It may just be in a prototype phase and it reeks big time of E.D.
