UK Ponycon newbie needs advice!

Hello all!

I'm thinking of attending UK Ponycon this year (my first time!) and having a stall. I was wondering if anyone with past experience could give me some basic advice on what to expect and how to get the most out of the day.

Bring someone along to help you with your stall - so you can have a browse too.
Put price tags on everything as this makes selling/buying easier.
I like it when people put their name somewhere on their stall (but that is my personal preference ;-))
If you have space for a bag of plastic/carrier bags - they are good too (although I didnt need any last year...). Sometimes people ask if you have a bag...

Make sure you get yourself a clear name badge I know it sounds silly but we all know one another by typing skills alone. If you have a name badge it often helps to break down being in a room with strangers very quickly because we can recognise one another!

I have a 2-day stall this year. People better be ready for some serious pony-buying action (of course they are).
I had a stall for the first time 2 years ago and this was the spare stuff I brought with me. I'll be bringing the same again:

- Pens (permanent markers and biros)
- Sellotape and masking tape (depending on what I wanted to stick to what)
- Spare price tags (in case any fell off and went missing)
- A4 paper (handy for making spare signs if you find you need them. Also good for taking notes.)
- Scissors
- Plastic and paper shopping bags (I just hoarded the ones I got from shopping and put them in a box. A lot of people did appreciate being given a bag, especially at the beginning of the day.)
- Rubber bands (holding stuff together!)

I also brought some small snacks the last time but I don't know what this venue does regarding bringing in outside food. I didn't bring in sandwiches or anything but rather some biscuits and sweets. I should probably ask.

I love the idea of a name badge. I like crafts, so I must arrange that.

The only other thing I'd add is have a bag of change ready, as at the start of the day, lots of people come with notes instead of coins.

We're having a 2 day stall too, look forward to meeting you there.

Thanks all, that's really helpful advice I think I'm just going to come along this year to meet up and get a feel for the event, but maybe next year I'll have a stall. It sounds so fun, very excited!
