Title: Gloworm restore...
Post by: mlp4me on May 20, 2017, 05:15:44 PM
I want to sell my extra gloworm. I'm hoping to get him glowing again. That part my husband has a good grasp on for fixing.
I'm a bit wary on taking the time to rip apart to check on the music button. Opinion wanted... Is it worth my time to even attempt this?
I can't remember what he played; if I knew the tune - I think hobby lobby has music buttons.

link to glo-worm tune and light up function :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5CfsN-dOfY

my dad just restored mine for me, slightly different, no music, but the entire copper loop had to be replaced as it had corroded so horribly :( but i have my glo-buddy back! :) you may be better off selling as-is as non-original may hurt the value, but then again there are people who want their old toys for their kids now so it may work in your favor to fix it ...

It definitely needs the copper loop. Thanks for the link!! Poor thing had to have been washed. My mom had the sense to take out the music pack and light tube before washing mine...

well, depending on the climate, it can cause the copper to corrode if it's humid too. As well as some people storing them with batteries in the toy :( My dad said it wasn't too hard to replace the copper loop, the hardest part was cleaning the old loop out of the light unit lol
