Meet Gatsby!

I've found a new direction in my life; dog training! I'm getting lessons from my dog trainer while I prepare for dog training certification, but I needed a test subject that would serve another purpose; as a therapy dog.

Thus, I adopted my new best friend: Gatsby the cardigan corgi/dachshund mix.

And we checked out our new apartment. Yet to move in and furnish but he's quite comfortable.

He'll be trained as a reading therapy dog and hopefully get an official therapy dog card and jacket. Helping the disabled has been a longterm goal of mine and there's no better way than with a sweet pup.

Congrats on adopting Gatsby!  He looks like a very sweet boy in your photos!  That's so wonderful that he'll be a therapy dog. 

My family has a dachshund, too (hence my profile picture and the "doxie" part of my username).  They are loving, comical, wonderful companions (although mine is a bit stubborn and bossy at times).

Awww! Gatsby is so very handsome

We have some therapy and service dogs in my apartment complex and it is so nice to see one who will be in traning. I hope he'll be a smart cookie and get his certifications
