Off Topic / Re: What are your plans for New Year's?
« on: January 02, 2023, 02:46:10 PM »
I'm late to the party, but I pretty much spent it sitting in a hot bath catching up texting friends. I'm not a New Year's fan. Like LaW said...it's cold and boring. My husband wanted us to go to a New Years party, and I told him okay at first, but then found out at the last minute it wasn't family friendly. Well I'm not paying for a sitter, even if one could be found at zero hour on New Year's eve. I told him to go without me, but he stayed home too.

I have my sister's childhood Ringlets. She's not my favorite of the set, but her hair colors are really nice. I pretty much brought this girl back from the dead. Her tail was SO snarled and nasty, I thought she was a goner!

I have her and love her!! She's one of my favorite ponies in my collection. She is the first Brush-n-Grow pony I got as a collector. I have such a pretty one; her hair is still so bright and vibrant, even the pink.

I have a bait one somewhere. Probably with no symbol, I don't remember.

That's one unfortunate name. She's cute though.

Easy. A house within walking distance to my kids' school.

Since I can't trade for better physical and mental health, this will at least go a long way toward getting me some more rest, which will in turn, improve both greatly.

Maybe my habit of collecting teeth isn't as strange as I thought. My 7-year-old hasn't lost any teeth yet, and his dentist just informed me that 2 are finally loose. Is it bad that I'm already looking to poach my son's teeth by putting a little container in his backpack in case they fall out while he's at school, and making big tooth fairy promises?  XD

Just seeing this today...such exciting news! I'm actually really excited about the little blind bag figures, as that's all I have room for at the moment. I don't collect plushes...just not my thing, but I have to admit that these new ones are really cute...a lot more so than the originals. Kinda boring news about the collector pose rerelease...but at least that's not all they are doing for the 40th. The celestial set is really fun, I'm so excited for all the collectors out there who have dreamed of seeing them released!

Thanks LadyM for sharing the video...it was fun to watch!

Oh wow, I have been away for a while, and how fun it was to come back to these exciting updates! I don't know if I'll get the celestial ponies or not, but it's cool to see them! I would have liked the more basic ponies done in different poses. Not really a fan of another release of these in the same pose. I think the 40 could have been more subtle, too. I'm usually not a fan of blind bag stuff, but if I saw these somewhere I would buy them! I'm guessing the addition of Gusty is because she's popular.

Fun question! I don't think I own anything especially old. My grandma's fake grapes are probably the oldest, and rather an oddity in themselves. She had a basement full of oddities and unusual items when we were growing up, and the fake grapes were on this balance scale on top of a chest of drawers. For some reason, I wanted them so badly! I would try to climb the dresser to get them, and get in trouble for it. After she passed away when I was a teen, my aunt asked me if I wanted anything from her house. I said not really...just those fake grapes. My mom rolled her eyes and tried to throw them away, but my aunt rescued them and snuck them to me. I still have them in my kitchen, in a giant decorative wine glass on top of my kitchen cabinets.

I have had a lot of strange things that have passed in and out of my hands over the years, but none so bizarre as my husband's extracted wisdom teeth. Not sure why I wanted to keep them; I also have some of my stepkids' baby teeth that they gave me when they fell out. A couple of years ago my own wisdom teeth joined the collection. I guess I always thought I might encase them in clear dental acrylic or something...make something fun out of them. I know...I'm weird.

Curious, have you tried washing it to see what happens?
If you haven't, I would just take one dread-lock group and wash it carefully to see what the hair does. Assuming that it is also all knotted/tangled you could also try a conditioner on the one section to see what happens and if it could be combed through.

I haven't tried it. I should, just to see what happens. It can't get any worse!

G1 for sure. Not to sound dumb, but what are tiny tins?

They're little bitty G3s that came in collectible tins. Super cute too.

Oh thank you. Those are super cute!

I seem to be the opposite of many on here. I am terrible at computers and technological things. I am fairly good with people when forced to be. I was a bartender through my college years, and could strike up a conversation with pretty much anybody. I was also a former employer at a place that employed a lot of teens, and I was always told that I was good with the kids; I was always the one they would come to when they had a problem, whether personal or about work. I just had a way with being empathetic to teenagers in a way that many adults can't.

However, most animals and I just don't get each other. I was raised to be afraid of dogs, and as an adult I am still very distrustful of them. Of course, they sense that distrust, and are wary of me, too. I like cats well enough though.

So besides animals, my worst thing is probably procrastination. I am about 99% sure I have an undiagnosed case of ADHD, and can't concentrate on any one thing to save my life, especially unpleasant things like cooking and cleaning. I get overwhelmed very easily with large tasks; I don't know where to start and I shut down and go on my phone (I'm doing this now! I'm supposed to be cleaning, packing, and painting a bathroom, but I don't know where to begin because it's too much).

My best is probably art-related stuff. Making signs. Drawing slogans for stuff. Writing. I dunno...I'm not very good at a lot of things, honestly.
