@snapdragon

Oh no! That sounds so sad  :( I am sorry that happened to you, too!

I think Barnacle and Huggy Tails have the same hair color so it makes sense that it happens to the red and orange tones.
My Huggy Tails now has only the white hair on her tail left! That color came out silky again after my washing! Strange

I really hope rehairing will be easy, I think I just have to loosen the feet. Hopefully I got the right hair color. Should be Firebird from Dollyhair, but I don’t have any to compare.

I'm sorry to hear it. :(

Thank you so much! I hope I found the right color of doll hair to retail her  :(. I always wanted her because of her bright colors

Wow! I never heard that could happen
It is Huggy Tails with these bright neon orange hair and it looked a bit faded on parts so maybe sunlight is a good point?
I really hope rehairing her tail won’t be a big thing

Pony Corral / Re: Getting yellow plastic bubbles clear again?

I've often wondered if Retr0Brite would work on plastic bubbles. It's for ABS plastic so maybe not.

The only thing I know would work is using a peroxide paste and then letting it sit in the sun, but that would harm the pony inside and the card.

Thank you! Yes, that is what I thought, too. Everything would harm the pony inside the bubble aswell  :(

Hello everyone :)

I just got a Fairy Tails bird in the Mail and started to wash her enthusiastically with warm water and mild soap as I always do with new ponies or birds…and just as I started to detangle the tail the hair just fell apart  I mean it just fall into tiniest pieces of hair in my hands.
Does anyone ever had this before? I never had problems with washing pony hair? Water wasn’t hot and soap was the same one I used on tons of ponies before…
She definitely needs a rehair for her tail now

Pony Corral / Re: Ponies rattle when shaken - should I be concerned?

They tail washer of my childhood Baby Cuddles came loose just from playing, too. Sometimes with brushing the tail popped out with its metal part that’s around the hair but I always just put it back inside and everything was fine. Somehow I thought her rattling matches her because she now was like a little Baby Rattle in her Buggy

Pony Corral / Getting yellow plastic bubbles clear again?
« on: August 12, 2023, 02:24:43 PM »
Has anyone ever heard of a method to get a yellowed plastic bubble or front from a MIB pony to get clear again without destroying the original Packaging? I have no problem with sunfaded cardbacks or card boxes with MIBs but the yellowing is a bit odd
Any ideas?

Yeah, it's plastic that speeds it up. Cardboard is fine.

Thank you :)

I can only say that I had immense luck with sparkle sky rocket sunfading out a lot of ink. Frankly, I think she was the best body sunfade I ever had. No, she didn't lose her glitter.
Star Hopper is a tough nut when her discoloration is so deeply within the plastic. It's not that she'd sunburn either. I've got a 50/50 half mint green, half blah green, very sad looking one that's MO that really does look like frankenponymadeonafriday.

„Frankenponymadeonafriday“ That made my day!!!
I know what you mean, I saw these type of discolorated Star Hoppers a few times. Mine „thankfully“ discolorated very similar on head and body so she actually looks a bit like the Store version Star Hopper with white hair. That was my biggest concern when putting her into the sunlight: that only one part of the body will change and the other part would just stay the same.

Pony Corral / Re: Brown spots - what's the best treatment?
« on: July 18, 2023, 03:21:03 PM »
Thankfully I haven’t these spots on any pony but I got similar spots on some Strawberry Shortcake pets. I tried a bath in natron for a few hours and than sunlight for days and it worked on most of them. The spots definitely got lighter and smaller.

Ok, now that sounds like a good reason to not do it  Thank you!!

I am wondering now why she discolorated at all in the beginning? She wasn’t exposed to any light in the last years, stored away in a cardboard box…

cardboard speeds up the release of plasticizer which is the liquid that makes the plastic "squishable".  all plastic toys will eventually break down, but it depends on their conditions when they were assembled in the factory and how they have been stored and treated in their lifetimes.

I did a post about plasticizer leakage a while back and there everybody said storing in plastic boxes speeds it up and cardboard boxes are better?? Now I am confused

I don't have experience with this. My fear would be that the sun could damage the glitter. I don't know for sure though. Hopefully someone can help :)

Yeah I am also unsure of the Lametta   :|

Don't do it. All translucent plastic is notorious for discoloration.

But wouldn’t that mean she is also notorious to change back in her original color? Or do you mean I can’t control if the changing will be the same on head and body?

Pony Corral / Sunfading Sparkle Ponies?
« on: July 16, 2023, 09:23:17 AM »
Hello
does anyone ever tried to sunfade a G1 Sparkle Pony?
I am curious because I have MO Star Hopper who turned into a darker green very similar to the store version. The discoloration is a match with head to body so it doesn’t look that bad. But I was wondering if the sparkling vinyl would turn into its original color in the sun, too ^.^
Any experience would be appreciated :)

I have her and the other three with most of their accessories  (only missing a few of their barrettes)
I think the ponies look a bit strange because of their slim design but I think their accessories are some of the cutest ever made!! I am absolutely in love with their tutus!! And their colors are beautiful, too! Tip Toes has the cutest color combo
