Im gonna be an uncle! :D

Pretty much as the title says- I am going to be an uncle! My brother just pulled me aside today at a family party & told me his wife is almost 3 months pregnant

I am thrilled! I was starting to wonder if they'd ever decide to have kids, and apparently they quietly decided to try with instant success!

I anticipate becoming a father myself in the next 3 years or so, as my partner and I have discussed it- but I am so excited that someone else (my only brother!) will be bringing a baby into the family so I can get a bit of practice in. No one in my life has had a baby yet, so this will be the first baby close to me

Congratulations! I know this is cliche, but it is so rewarding to be a part of a child's life. They grow so fast. I can also say from personal experience that sometimes a kid needs an adult to talk to and trust that isn't a parent.

Plus, maybe this way you'll have a baby sitter when you have one. My daughter can hardly wait to baby sit her cousin.

They are so lucky to have you.
When I had my first baby I was very tired and still recovering  during the first months. My brother would bring food, offer to babysit, and even tidy up.  I was so thankful and we became closer.

That is awesome news! I'm not much of a Kids person, I have one kid who i'm super proud of and besides that I love being the aunt! xD I get to spoil everyone and then hand them back over to my sister. :p

Im sure you will be an awesome uncle and an even better dad some day. ^-^

Thanks everyone! Im nearly as thrilled as my mom- who is  absolutely over the moon for a grandchild.

Im actually a bit nervous about dealing with an infant since I never have, but ultimately its only as much of responsibility as I volunteer to them, and Im sure it's something we'll all just be figuring out together.

Try not to worry about it too much. A new baby around is always a little uncomfortable at first, despite it being a total joy at the same time. xD

At first, the only infant thing you will need to deal with probably is just holding them. :p

As it has been sais before, being an uncle is the best part. You can enjoy the child and give it back when it is too much. Besides we all have an uncle we like best.
