Arts & Crafts Corral / Have any of you done a My Little pony Cross stitch?

Little question, Have any of you ever done any MLP Cross stitch designs before? I have gotten back into cross stitch recently and I have completed 3 Pusheen designs and I am looking for my next project, I only really like cute designs that relate to my interests so I am thinking of perhaps starting a my little pony design :D
I wondered if any other arena Members had done pony designs, I have seen G1 patterns online, but I just wanted if there are any other pony stitchers here  :lol:

Hi all!
I have a story to tell.. Some of you know i recently bought my first Goldilocks off ebay. I live in the UK So was thrilled to see her for sale over here, and i was even more thrilled to get her for £2.99 (Excl. Postage). I was aware when buying she was missing two chunks of her mane (The orange parts) but im not a fussy collector and knew because of the nature of her hair it may not be obvious that she was missing these bits. She arrives and i am beyond thrilled with her, Overall she had frizzy hair and was clean. I took photos the day she arrived  :art:

I planned to recurl her hair, using my normal de frizzing methods. Boil wash with fabric softener, de tangle, straighten any frizz with low heat flat iron and then curl. This is where the issues begun... I had been having a spa day for my ponies (re styling hair and cleaning my new ponies) and left Goldilocks by my laptop. While having a break I was mindlessly watching Netflix while messing with her hair. I ran my finger up one of her cut sections and hair fibres flew everywhere, confused I did it again, with the same result. at first I thought it may have been left on her from when her hair was cut but then I remembered about the phenomena of 'Hair rot' In which ponies loose their hair from age, generally this is documented with Cheap G3 ponies. I reached out for help on the Arenas shoutbox where I was told that this can happen to G1 ponies from use of product in their hair. I imagined someones mum, or perhaps a collector many years ago used hair spray to preserve her ringlets (It didn't work lol).

Here are the broken parts, the other section at the bottom was like this but is now stubble


So i had a dilemma, was i too leave her with the hair frizz or attempt to re curl... I chose to recurl...

I boil washed her tail tentatively, then very carefully combed with through her curls. it was at this point i lost a lot of the orange parts of her tail.

I decided against the flat iron treatment incase i caused more damage to the delicate hair, so i went right in and re curled her hair

I didnt loose her tail thank goodness, if im honest the hair loss that did occur was benificial as its not as frizzy as the yellow sections. Im not happy if im honest as the frizz really bothers me  :cloud:

So what can we learn from this? and why bother sharing? Well i find it curious that the orange sections broke off in her mane and not the yellow, is it weaker by nature? Perhaps check your Goldilocks ponies incase this breakage was caused by age and not product  :whoa:

Pony Brag Arena / The best/ worst day of this year?

Hi all,
You may remember I recently posted asking for your opinions on a lot of G1 ponies and playsets I found online. Well I bought the lot, some of It at least. The seller was happy to let me buy 10 of the ponies for 20 pounds!  :biggrin:
The only issue was i had to pick up the lot myself, and it was located in a really rough area in a city, known for gangs  :shocked: so i had to get an hour long bus journey and then walk to this house alone. As you can imagine nothing happened but that doesnt mean my stress hormones were not through the roof!  :blush:

Anyway i get to the house and the woman is lovely and chatty but I was still stressed as i have some degree of social anxiety and being in a strangers house buying what she perceives to be stupid toys was a nightmare  :yikes: She gets out the ponies and asks me to confirm if they were the ones i wanted and no matter how hard i tried i couldn't focus my attention on identification so i just said yes. She bends down and brings up the G1 carry case and begins putting the ponies in (This case was not in the deal) so result i got a free carry case for my troubles!

Forward to the bus ride and i open the carry case and begin looking at the ponies, im calm now so can actually focus lol. And that's when i realise... She gave me all the correct ponies but one.... I got BBE baby half note instead of Newborn baby Toddles. So I accidently separated Tuggles and Toddles who have been together since birth  :cry:

So yeah, i got a carry case but lost a baby pony i wanted in exchange for a cursed BBE pony   :cloud:

Pony Brag Arena / My first mini pony mail!

Yesterday my first small pony mail bought from the Arena arrived!

I was lucky enough to buy my first ever So-Softs from the lovely Lipstickcat  :) So soft ponies aren't everyones cup of tea but I have been facinted by them for a long time  :biggrin: So who did I buy?

I usually take photos of my ponies in a more studio-esque fashion, but I am not at home with my unicorn blanket backdrop so my mums garden had to do  :P

I'm very taken with these two :) I might go as far to say that This particular magic star is my favourite pony in my collection  :happy: I am especially happy since Taffeta's website, the My Little Pony Scrapbook (The font of all G1 UK MLP knowledge) suggests that these two perhaps didn't see an official flocked UK release  :awake:


I can't wait to take photos of my EU Magic star and my so soft Magic star together  :lovey:

Pony Corral / Is this g1 lot worth the price?

Hello there  ^.^

I have a dilemma friends, there is a lot I have had my eye on for a while on an app and im really struggling as to if its worth the money at all...

The lot was listed originally for £120, after a month of presumably no interest it was re listed for again £120 (about $160 for friends overseas). It has been relisted once again for £90... I just need to know if its worth it >_<

Here are the ponies, its hard to identify a few of them because they are face on, there are close ups of the ponies but also face on  :shocked: but here is who I have identified until now
Daddy apple delight, Kisscurl, Daddy bright bouquet, Baby north star, baby bowtie, Mummy apple delight, TAF fifi??, NSS wind whistler, female baby apple delight, sunlight???, Cloud dreamer (poor condition symbol), baby fifi, baby half note?? and a seapony
I cant identify the pony on the end left and a lot of the babies are unknown for me...
19 ponies all together... But wait there's more! There's a pony carrier, a cot, baby bonnet school of dance, Lullabye nursery, scrub a dub tub and a purple grooming parlour

£90 is a lot of money for me as I am a student so your opinions on the lots worth are appreciated  :good: I can send more photos if you all want too!

Wanted! / I will buy your unwanted poor condition ponies!

Hi there! I have finally gotten around to writing my pony wish list, and as the title suggests I will probably buy your unwanted ponies!

My collection is very much in its infancy and I am not a fussy collector by any stretch of the imagination, therefore if you have some ponies you have doubles of, no longer want, or have replaced with a more mint version I am open to buy!  :good:

When i say poor conditon i am happy to consider buying ponies which:
-Are mucky
-Have cut hair (As long as we aren't talking buzz cut)
-have matted knotty hair
-pen marks (within reason)
-faded hair/ symbols
-age spots
-paint wear
-patchy flocking

Pony Corral / Who is your grail pony?

At the minute we are having what could be considered to be a little heatwave in the UK. :relaxed:
Last night I was having a BBQ with my family and it made me realise how much I need TAF Munchy in my life! :cry:
I need a pony which represents my love for Gerkhins! 
I feel like the odds are against my favour however as not only does she seem to command a high price in sales on eBay for example, shipping from the US to the UK can be horrendous, and as we all know Munchy was sold exclusively in the USA  :wail: She deffinately isnt as rare as some of the ponies you guys desire however  :P

Do you have a pony that is seemingly unnatainable? If so how come? I'm interested to know so i dont feel so alone in my quest for a burger loving pony  ;)

I recently purchased my first 3 G1 playsets :) ! The Pretty Parlour, Baby Bonnet school of dance and the Dream castle, at a cost of £6 each  :happy:

I would be lying if i said they were perfect, but i mainly purchased them as a project to see if i could restore them to their former glory (Posts about this experiment will follow in the coming weeks).

I have conducted a bit of market research and it seems the Bonnet seems to be the least desirable of all the playsets, with one selling on eBay for 99p recently... Why do you think this is? because it doesn't display well or its common?

 Also do you collect playsets? if you do which one Is your favourite? And if you don't why not?  :silly:

In a lot I got a couple months ago I gained 3 G2 ponies and a few accessories that came with them.
Although they are very sweet they don't fit in my collection and I would much rather have money to buy G1 ponies!

I can always provide more photos and detail on them if you are interested! I will consider trade too :') This lot includes 2 gates and one rainbow, and I will throw in a G2 sweetberry Mcdonald's toy too  ;)

Ideally I would like £4.00 for the lot, I would like to sell them as one lot but might consider separating them :)

I think they have all had a slight tail trim, and clever clover and Sundance are missing their eye Gems. Ivy has her eye gems but one has fallen out but I still have it and will include in the trade. Both Magic motion ponies mechanisms work. the last few hair plugs on Sundances hair have quite dry frizzy hair due to the hair getting trapped in her neck. DM or reply if interested :)

Pony Corral / Where is everyone finding these amazing pony hauls?!

I started collecting G1 in Jaunary so granted I have not been on the scene for too long but something I have noticed is how impossible it is to find any ponies past G4 in second hand shops?

I think this might be a UK problem as other collectors I know from the UK have similar bad luck with finding vintage toys of any kind  :what:

So I put this to you, how is vintage toy hunting, particularly MLP in your area? Has your luck changed in recent years?
I personally think it might be a thing with us Brits to want to sell off our old things rather than donate, ebay is full of G1 listings and none are that cheap either :cloud:

Hiya!

My name is Emily and I live in the UK.
I have a general interest in vintage toys but my G1 pony collection is probably my biggest, I am not too interested in any Gen past G2 :blush:
I enjoy finding old ponies and giving them a good clean and give them the retirement they deserve  :) I have a Tumblr account where I share pictures of my collection here: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/pastel-parade  :P
I hope with being a part of this community I will meet fellow UK collectors I can befriend because right now I have no one to share this hobby with! I also hope to gain knowledge from you veteran pony restorers out there  :cool:
