Introductions / Hello again, it's me : Archi
« on: July 19, 2019, 06:46:34 PM »
It's been a long while since I've been on. A lot has gone on in my life and I had to walk away for a bit so I could keep this a happy space, unsullied by my constant angst/rage/miffs.  ^^;

:whistle: Guess who's back? Back again...  ^^;

Unbelievably behind. Due to me being ultra busy, napping, or actually following my "go to sleep on time" directive. I did think of y'all often and read back up to date.

9/5 - 4/5
Super stormy. Not much done but picking my green bean pole back up after it blew over yet again... Did a bit of exercising. Some more sewing and cleaning done around the house.
Spoiler
Brought my dog to where she could relax and see me. Please don't mind the overflowing recyclables. She's almost 14 and this set of storms terrified her.

Meanwhile, my only a year younger cat plotted the takeover of the "good" pillow. AKA, not one of her FIVE PILLOWS.

9/6 - 3/5
Picked out of the garden. Ran away from yellowjacket population. Went to Market. Did light exercise. It rained. Finished picking the garden after dark. Had to spray tree with hose because of bees sleeping on the figs. Remained disturbed the entire night.
Spoiler
My parking area garden is looking pretty awesome! I'm hoping that all of this greenery manages to protect the plum tree in the largest pot.

There's a run of street signs on one of the walking routes to Market that changes daily. This week's was cute.

I would have had a larger yield of figs if I'd picked them earlier in the morning.

My gardening pen pal had her hubby drop off this bounty (these are pint baskets I bought) on our husbands' get together night. Some of the figs from the top pick are for her. These are excess for her. One day I too may have this much.  ^.^

9/7 - 3/5
Some sewing done. Father in law helped me change out the broken handle to the greenhouse so now I can get in from the outside! ^^; Did the harvesting I didn't do yesterday and went to the grocery store.
Spoiler
Saving the paper containers from Market sellers has always been helpful to me. I've only 4 of the larger ones and they're all pretty beat up now.

On a down note, I had to spend about 10 mins in my car calming down after I got screamed at by some bigots on my way to the grocery store.

9/8 - 2/5
It's a cold snap so fewer figs for a bit... Walked the garden but no harvest. This was a pretty bad day for me. A break (if you will). I spent most of the day prone and browsing the interwebs.  :P

9/9 - 5/5
Pretty good for a Saturday. Did some more sewing. Working on the pescatarian lifestyle. A little light exercise, sewing, and proactive bug spraying in the greenhouse. Walked through the garden but no harvest. Spent the morning at the church for a garden improvement day I set up.
Spoiler
This is the courtyard I designed. I'm the primary consultant for plantings (per there being no one else as invested in it) as well. A ton of weeding needed doing and then one of the members brought his brother and two truckloads of mulch.

While I gave youngest her meal with bacon I opted for smoked salmon.

9/10 - 4/5
Went out to greenhouse and did first bit of sweeping in a big while then ran from yellowjackets when they reared their ugly heads. They were attracted to the water I used to hose a couple of things off and the disturbed piles of leaves from clearing the area in front of the door. Sewing done. Ate right. A little light exercise.

9/11 - 3/5
Day of remembrance. I'm working hard on a Swap pony that requires ponywear. I now have a greater appreciation for those that can make half decent looking ones. My sewing machine has helped greatly and I need only a little more before I can adorn it.
Spoiler
Decided to try the fig conserve I made earlier with my figs, organic sugar, and local honey. It's a bit more runny than I'd hoped but still very good.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

9/12 - 3/5
I have to get out earlier and earlier each of the warmer days to keep from having yellowjackets around me while picking the figs. I have to get up on a ladder to properly pick everything, so it's rather dangerous having them around. Especially with my fear of heights.
Spoiler
I also keep clean plastic food bins from the grocery store. Reuse!!!
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

9/13 - 4/5
Walked the garden to do some maintenance and light picking. Got the needed equipment to do a more thorough job on the greenhouse. A lot of interior cleaning and a quick trip to the recycling/trash dump where there are more yellowjackets because people refuse to properly rinse out their cans!!! :enraged:
Spoiler
I have parsley babies!

Just figs picked today.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

9/14 - 5/5
Got two contractor bags full of stuff pulled out and some reuseable items rinsed off. I think I accidentally made some chlorine gas but not enough to be truly worrisome. I know the symptoms and was (because I'm paranoid sometimes) wearing full mask and gloves gear with two layers of clothing and hood.
Spoiler
My largest watermelon so far is awesome sized! A personal (small) variety and this one is almost done, I think?
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

9/15 - 3/5
Put spraypaint on the salvaged wood items but I may need more paint. Bought more bleach and other cleaning stuff. I need to gather my courage and cut some of the greenery around the outside of the greenhouse. I may wait until it turns colder. Started a third bag of trash. Some more sewing prep and testing of the Kings. No exercise. Went to sleep on time.

9/16 - 4/5
Finished the eyes on the Kings! I need to see if I want to add shine to them. With "Scar" (my King that went wrong so I'll be testing techniques on him) I learned that I don't like the look of the fabric paints I got even though they're pretty good and leave the minky still soft after drying. Went to sleep on time because I fell out at 10:30 and only woke up in time to set my alarm and check my Pinterest alerts.
Spoiler
My murloc helper Blue, two regular Kings, Scar, and Try2King.

9/17 - 3/5
Did too much today. My exercise was running around in a panic helping everyone at church today. Since I joined the choir each Sunday has been an exercise in not letting it become a full panic. A little sewing and cheated on my diet at the potluck. But, I mean, brisket. BRISKET.

:ninja:
My life is no less busy but I like to keep up with these when I can...

I've gotten mine from $8 - $30 (from Sweden for the more expensive ones but they're flawless) but I collect them and am slightly unreasonable about prices (on the high side by a dollar or two mostly). For less common varieties in not as great condition I'd still go around $20. The blue one you have, OP, is likely about that much. I have an okay yellow with pink hair I got for $22. She has a couple of eye scratches but no haircut and no smoke smells. $30 is my personal max on Takara fakies and not many others will go that high for them either. A green or purple bodied one would go up on my max immediately but you have to watch out because the blues sometimes turn greenish.

Welp! Only a handful of days behind so here goes!

9/1 - 4/5
Managed to get to bed on time. Managed to eat better and play with the dehydrator more (banana chips!). Started work on the greenhouse and looked up flooring solutions to keep from having to do this again any time soon. Lotsa work on ponies. Some posting on my King Thorax progress too. Harvested just enough for lunch and dinner.

9/2 - 4/5
Even though it was raining I went and did some walking with Youngest. Minimal harvest but I used the last of the figs I'd had before. Roasted figs with goat cheese is awesome! Got work done on tracing everything I'll need for a small run of K. Thoraxes. He's coming along nicely!

9/3 - 3/5
I got to sleep on time only because I woke up from a late nap to do so. Today was pretty wasted for anything other than sewing and properly eating (although I cheated a bit there too) and I barely moved the entire day. I did go to church (responsibilities.......  -_-) so I didn't laze around the house.

9/4 - 4/5
Didn't get to sleep on time (as it's midnight now) and didn't eat right but I spent most of the day with youngest, we exercised, shopped for new school shoes and Legos, and we went and spent time with one of her grandmas. I got light work done with the K. Thoraxes because I still will hand sew finiky pieces and the antlers needed to be stuffed. Mindless stuff really. Fresh picked cucumbers are awesome though. I do sneak in mini harvests when I can.  ;)

Spoiler
Try2 and my helper murloc stand tall over today's progress!

I'm back again! Hopefully I'll be more active online than I was towards the end last time... ^^;  I've managed to maintain my current weight easily for these last few months. Now I want to start loosing weight/size again.

1. Go to bed by 11pm.  It's hard to get enough sleep otherwise because of how early school starts. I don't take time for naps during the day.

2. Start with 10mins/day of light exercise. Add 10 minutes per month to the routine. 30 minutes shouldn't be too bad as a daily routine.

3. Harvest at least every second day. It's high production time for all this bounty I've nurtured through the summer. Expect copious food pics.

4. Eat more pescatarian. It's how I maintained a healthier figure before. I'm the biggest eater of water creatures in the house so I can't go there completely but I liked eating that way. Youngest is resistant to the idea of mommy becoming "less squishy" even though I told her I needed to for my health.  :P

5. Play with my new food dehydrator twice per month at a minimum. I've been using it a lot right now to add to my ways of keeping food from Market and garden but the test is in the long run. Doing it with the oven was harder and not fun. Youngest has made me aware of how yummy dried okra is because of how much it tastes like it's fried. :dribble:

6. Clear out the greenhouse. I need to do this before the first frost. I've a papaya and a dwarf banana I want to keep healthy. Plus, I'd be able to try winter hothouse gardening.

7. More sewing and working on ponies! If I can dedicate two workday sized blocks per week I will be ever so much more visibly productive. Bonus, if I can make myself write something on each of my social networks every day promoting my store. Visibility helps.  ^.^

That's plenty to work on, some of which overlap marginally. I hope to continue being a healthier pony here in the future.

Sunday 3/5
A little over a mile walked. Some more gardening but mostly just watering. No real cleaning.
Spoiler
She loves figs. I do too. A pretty large haul today. Borage flowers are the two purple/blue ones by the strawberry. They're edible and taste faintly of cucumber.

Monday 3/5
A mile and 3/4 walked. More gardening. Laundry day. This, to no one's surprise, upset hubby's cat who had gotten used to me delaying laundry until it was an all day affair. :)

Tuesday 5/5
A little over three miles walked. A lot of cleaning done as hubby wanted me to double check under the sofas for my phone... Still missing... Some gardening done but not much as, once again, my green beans have run out of climbing room and I can no longer add height without being unable to tend to them without potentially needing a stepladder. They're about 8' off the ground as is now. Got my front yard trimmed and mowed, though I still need to clip the hedges.
Spoiler
Eggplant! My largest ever, no less. :D

Wednesday 5/5
Went to the Farmer's Market! There was an inner city summer camp group who had an outing with coupons specifically so they could spend them at the Market at most of the stands. They nearly cleared out the stand that had fresh strawberries. ^.^  A friend brought over zucchini and cucumbers from his wife's garden so we have "salad and pickles for days" as Youngest said repeatedly. Almost three miles walked.
Spoiler
More figs! Of course the garden is doing well enough that I have an overabundance of some things.

Thursday 3/5
Almost two and a half miles walked. A lot of gardening done. I decided I had enough energy to attempt starting some filler seed near where I'm trying to drive out the Creeping Jenny so I hand tilled that after turning over my compost. I had to buy more soy milk for hubby so I stopped at the garden center for more bits and bobs for my succulent fairy gardens inside. It took going to an organic-centric grocer to find the pepermint oil I need for my "make the fruit unlikeable to birds/pests/etc" spray. Peppermint, lemon juice, and water sprayed directly on the fruit leads to one or two experimental pecks and then they leave them alone! More fruit for me. Although... I do have to apply it twice daily for best results...  ^^;  On the downer side, during our morning tour of the edibles Youngest noted that she couldn't find the peach. We searched for a litle but it hadn't fallen anywhere around it (kinda obvious because I made sure to put a proper barrier to prevent casual mishaps like that) so I surmised that someone must have stolen our only peach of the year. I did find it later, before the ants managed to get to it, and salvaged what I could as the culprit had taken only a couple of big bites where it had been prettiest and tossed the remainder about 35' away in my lawn. So we did get to sample our first peach but I'm still angry at that unknown thief. >_<

Spoiler
Because I found a yellow jacket nest, to add to my giant list of downers, I decided to splurge on this beauty that came available. Pony people are nice enough to help me stay in my budget so hubby doesn't cut off my hobbies. :P

Hopefully these dangerous freeloaders are dead by dawn. I may not check until 4pm though. Let the 90 plus degree heat do it's job. I have more bleach.

I'm starting to be a little more lenient on some of these days where I pick fresh from the garden and count those towards Market days. Because the whole point to me going to Market is to get locally grown, mostly organic (even without the labelling) food.

I'm so super behind now... I'm sorry. I still can't find my phone and the worry that causes has led to a number of down/depressed days where I didn't record much that went on.

Tuesday 3/5
Checked back in at Walmart for my phone... no go... Over 2 miles walked. Took Youngest out biking and walking. She's a darling who's trying to make mommy feel better. No gardening, no exercise.

Wednesday 3/5
Didn't go to the Market. Checked back in at Walmart for my phone... no go... A little over a mile walked.

Spoiler
Veggie smile!

Thursday 2/5
Not quite a mile walked. I did a good bit of sewing while trying to situate my life in the event I can't find my phone which is looking more and more likely by the hour... :sadness:

Friday 4/5
Checked back in at Walmart for my phone... no go... A mile and 3/4 walked. A good bit of gardening done even with the rain. More cleaning done. No exercise.

----------------------------------------- JUNE total 105
----------------------------------------- JULY start

Saturday 3/5
A bit over 2 1/4 miles walked. Went to party with Eldest and Youngest at a friend's new house. There were plenty of pool hijinx. I held myself back from overly partaking of most anything but fruit and fresh salads. I did have a burger though. Watching a 6yo in the pool counts as exercise. Period. -_-

Spoiler
Fruit!

Sunday 2/5
Only about 3/4 miles walked. I didn't feel well. The stress from my phone remaining missing meant that when my Youngest said that I didn't have to go to church we stayed home and chilled. Little gardening and no exercise.
Spoiler
I picked this to grill with lobster tail. I also did a beef butt portion. I got some new toys for my grill earlier this year and cooking helps with depression for me.

Monday 4/5
Checked back in at Walmart for my phone... no go... Almost 2 3/4 miles walked since I rewalked the store twice before going to the grocery store and Lowes. Because therapy shopping is an unhealthy problem of mine... :pout:
Spoiler
We now have enough coming in out of the garden for our version of cucumber salad and refridgerator pickles. Youngest loves to help me spot the done ones and I do need that help often as I miss too many on my own. ^^;

Tuesday 5/5
Fourth of July! Unfortunately mixed feelings as I love watching fireworks but Eldest despises them with the vehemence of a nervous chihuahua. Did a lot of grilling as therapy. Only the bare minimum of gardening as we've had torrential rain for almost a week now. A lot of bending so I'll say I had exercise. Walked 2 1/3 miles but only because the power went out and I'm one of the neighbors that walks to the ends of the roads to see if it's something we need to call in or not. This one was something not on our block but affecting the surrounding 4 miles of homes.
Spoiler
Fresh grilled bison burgers with herbs out of my garden, brats, devilled eggs, green beans, grilled corn, watermellon, and cucumber salad is my idea of a nearly perfect 4th of July meal. I did this in SPITE of the rain that kept most of the neighbors indoors. Until they smelled my cooking. Then it was on like Donkey Kong. ^.^

Wednesday 3/5
Didn't go to the Market. About 1 1/2 miles walked as I did laundry and finally was able to do a little more than poke longingly at a few branches on my way back into the house.

Thursday 3/5
Close to two miles. Made a new interior garden. It's changed as of Sunday but I haven't taken pics yet of the changes. I want to make some fairy garden type accessories for it first.
Spoiler

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Friday 4/5
1 1/4 miles walked. Some gardening done. A lot of cleaning done as I checked the last place the phone could have possibly been even though it was a very long shot.
Spoiler
I got jealous of the huge cucumbers one of the other mothers at Youngest's daycamp can grow (she was sharing some of the excess and this wasn't even the largest one there...) and picked enough to make another batch of cucumber salad and some more pickles. The figs are nearing the first batch to ripen and I wouldn't have picked this one if it hadn't come off when I touched it. We'll have a good number of decoration pumpkins for Halloween this year too. ^.^

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Saturday 2/5
Only a little over a mile walked. Did a little grocery shopping with Youngest. Only poked my head out to make sure the garden hadn't been hit by any more large branches. No exercise.

End of super long info dump and pictures.

I meant to write this yesterday but I was tired after the long bit of driving I did this weekend. 3-4 hours each way and the next day church and picking up hubby from the airport.  :snore:  No accurate mileage as I cannot find my phone right now and my stress level is the only reason I'm awake still.  :pout:

Friday 4/5
Back and forth as I put most of everything into the car the night before and made the hard decision of which G3s I actually had room for in the minuscule remaining space. Maintenance gardening for a break or two.

Saturday 3/5
Endurance is an exercise. Plenty of walking. Loading and unloading of the car. S.E. Pony Meet successful! Child was charming and mostly well behaved. No gardening because I got up to begin the day at 4:30am and didn't step foot in the house until nearly 11pm. BTW, McDs chicken biscuits keep ridiculously well in a hot car and are still edible for a dinner on the go.

Sunday 3/5
Nothing I can count as exercise but walking galore. We picked a cucumber and some fruit for dinner. I fought the fennel for dominance and forced it back into uprightness with only one stalk broken!

Monday 1/5
Perhaps should be higher but I'm not happy at all with myself today. Lost my FitBit while disrobing but since I remembered that eventually I found that an hour ago. Lost my phone some time after waking up and showing something to youngest and getting something from Walmart after dropping her off at daycamp. Plenty of walking as I cruised through the store four more times in effort to find it (none of which truly counts as FitBit was still hiding). We picked from the garden and had a lovely cucumber salad almost exclusively grown by us, salt and pepper notwithstanding. My elevated blood pressure may count as exercise. Just going to go to sleep now and hope for the best...  -_-

Posting now so I only have to do the weekend when I can pay better attention again.

Monday 3/5
Not much gardening done. A little cleaning done so I could cook and more because I stress clean.  ^^;  A little over 1 3/4 miles walked. Nothing that I could count as exercise.

Tuesday 3/5
Youngest had a dental appointment so walking the mall it was in became the activity of the day. She was upset because mommy has mall-immunity from working in one before so we didn't buy anything while there although we'll likely go back for Eldest's birthday present. Walked 2 1/3 miles. Got a few bits of fresh greenery for dinner. A little cleaning. No exercise. Maintenance gardening.

Wednesday 4/5
A LOT of cleaning done. Enough cleaning with heavy lifting and stretching to count as exercise. Decided not to go to the Farmer's Market. Some more maintenance gardening done. Grapes and cucumbers dislike being told where and how to grow. Walked 2 1/3 miles.

Thursday 4/5
Getting ready for pony meetup like I would for any Con so going up and down stairs enough for exercise. My FitBit acknowledged 21 trips up the stairs as I finish cleaning and rearranging the things I'm finishing before the cutoff vs the things I'll bring for "just in case". Somehow only 2 miles walked. Garden maintenance done with Youngest so she could pick fresh food and we shared some blueberries, raspberries, and cucumbers. Tomatoes should be soon and figs before the end of the summer.

Stretching and long slow walks can help with the pain, CG. I did that and didn't really show until a month out. It helps that I have always had a high pain tolerance level but do take it slow and easy.
