Hip holly syndrome is something I made up last night because a pony after being in box to long left residue on my hands that pony was guardians of harmony celestia
Hip holly syndrome is when a pony because of being in package for a long time becomes smelly or leaves a residue
What ponies have this problem

Is that the same as plasticizer leakage?
I had an absolutely nasty Gingerbread once (not MOC though) and no matter how many times I wiped her down, she was always sticky.

yes, its the plasticizer, happens out of box too ...

I have a Baby Tic Tac Toe and a Peachy that are like this but neither of them were left in their packages or any other containers.

Some plastics will attack one another, that is partially why I dont collect mint on card.

If the problem was caused by ponies being left MOC, there wouldn't be so many loose ponies exhibiting the sticky symptoms.
Hip Holly is a prime candidate for feeling icky though. My sister's also smelt horrible when she took her off card (back at the time she was brand new, in the late 1990s/2000ish) which is why I call her Hip Vomit.

Yeah that is what I meant because the celestia was map and had a powdery residue

that could also be plastic breakdown as well, my sister had a jewel riders horse, they left the saddle on too long and it stripped the paint right of the horse.

95% of my Brazilian G1's turn sticky a few times a year. I just give them a quick surface bath. Eventually all the plasticizer will be gone and I won't have to do it anymore. Can't wait, honestly!

I think every single one of my G3 sparkle ponies (all 3 or 4 of them) had this happen to them. Had to eventually toss them out, no amount of cleaning could cure it.

It will eventually stop being sticky and harden. Just have to wait the process out and talc helps until all the plasticizer comes out. Please consider using gloves when applying. However, the smell of vomit will worsen with age and never go away. I collect 1950's items and it is a common problem with the plastics used during that time period to smell like rotting cheese and vomit. It never goes away. -_-
