I have been selling a lot of things on facebook and ebay the last few weeks. Today I come home to my email saying that I have a pending e check from a person that I have no idea who they are. They are sending me $500! Um I did not sell anything for that much money!???
I called pay pal and they said that its real! Um has anyone had this happen to you before?
The name the money is coming from is Yiftach Bonass.
What do you all think? I am totally floored with this. I think that it might be a good idea to cancel and send the money back.

Uhhhh wow yeah! I think someone mistyped an address or something. Have you tried looking at the transaction details, getting contact info and emailing the person who sent it?

I have sent them two emails and it comes back to me that its not able to be delivered. Yes I looked it all and it looks like all the other ones that I have had in the past. I talked with pay pal and they said nothing looked spurious. I know I was like "OK!????" When I saw it. I have gotten spam e mails about getting a $1000 dollars before but its never actually been in my account.

I would definitely cancel! That seems very suspicious, despite what Paypal says...

I wouldn't do *anything* till it clears, that's for sure! If it's got a shipping address, try sending a letter, maybe, or if it's marked as a gift, maybe PayPal can give you a phone number or physical address to try?

:huh: that's odd. I was thinking someone typed the wrong addy and sent it to you by mistake too ..but you cant send them an email? although paypal says its legit? :blink: I think I'd wait it out a bit and see if it clears or if there is some kind of actual addy you can write to then try it, or try calling PP again

Maybe try searching the email or name on Facebook and seeing what comes up?

I just had another thought: can you search your paypal transactions and see if a person by the name or email has ever bought anything from you? If they have, they may have clicked the wrong name on a drop down menu; I almost did that earlier!
Some of the Nirvana's go for quite a bit; it could have been a partial payment for one, but sent to the wrong person?

I would cancel it. It sounds very suspicious, even if PayPal says it's legit.

Well I find it strange that if you have not sold anything on that value, you get that money ...
