Wishing you the best of luck! I taught myself basic Japanese a year or so ago, but sadly did not put it into practise and it has all been forgotten now. Ah well.

I took 2 years of full-immersion college courses too. If you don't use it you lose it in the back of your head, but once you start using it again it does come back much faster.

I had 3 years of study a long time ago, and now it's all gone. (And a few years of self teaching before that) Admittedly, our teacher let us get away without studying our vocab... which probably was my biggest mistake. I got to the point where I could read books. But, ya know, life got crazy.

I've been meaning to try again, (I bought some good flash cards) but it kinda stinks doing it by yourself, ya know?

Same here (though I only took 2 semesters) I feel like I've forgotten so much already.

I've been trying to look into taking classes again lately but the community college near me is much more expensive in CO than the courses I took when I was in CA and they only offer every other semester (1st & 3rd semester in the spring then 2nd & 4th in the fall and I'm not sure where I'd place now though it'd probably be best to start from the beginning again just for the review which means I'd have to wait until next spring) but I'd love to continue to study in the meantime. I'd definitely be interested if you formed a study group Harvestmgirl!

Current knowledge of the language: i know lots of vocab and can understand spoken but cannot speak coherently back. I know hiragana and katakana, but not much kanji
