MLP Nirvana / Princess Royal Blue Variant Price Check Please?
« on: May 22, 2021, 01:46:03 PM »
Hi everyone,

I was very lucky to find a Princess Royal Blue variant pony in a charity shop yesterday. She only cost me 99p! She is in lovely condition. I was wondering if anyone could advise me of her value? I can't see any sold ones on the eBay archives.

Thanks in advance  :)

I was visiting family this weekend and we went to a couple of charity shops. I rarely find anything, but was amazed to see six G1 ponies, including a Princess Royal Blue Variant! Only 99p each - I grabbed them pretty fast. They are in really nice condition, they just need a wash.

Any idea of the Princess Pony's value?  :)

Something this Darlin' Dino was holding caught my eye...is this the orange wand of Princess Amethyst? I have no idea how much it's worth, but must be more than 50p!

Off Topic / eBay Tax Question?
« on: October 29, 2020, 03:24:38 PM »
Hey guys,

Like many of you on here, I collect several different types of toys. My rule to myself though, is that I can never actually spend any money. So I will never buy at 'full price', but purchase toys in lots where I can sell some of them on and know that I can break even, or sometimes even make a little profit when I re-sell. I don't do it for 'business' - it's my way of justifying my purchases on a budget, as it were  ;)

I've actually made over £1000 this year, which I'm surprised at. Not all of it is toys though - some of it is furniture we sold, clothes we cleared out, homeware stuff etc. The question is, do I need to pay tax on these sales, even though the money is pretty much levelling out? If I calculated it all, my profits would be small overall vs what I paid, or else non-existent.

E.g, I recently bought a nice lot of 60s Barbie items for £75. I will probably sell a few outfits and shoes and make that back, but keep the rest, so will break even and thus feel happy that I can keep the rest of the bundle for my collection.

If anyone else justifies their collecting habits by buying in lots and selling back some of it as I do, do you worry about paying taxes on these sales? I've never thought about it before because I've never made this much in a year on eBay, but I think with the virus this year, I've been buying more toys than usual, being stuck at home a lot and everything

Any advice is much appreciated, thank you!

Trader & Shipping Support / What to do when eBay buyer doesn't pay?
« on: January 15, 2018, 10:08:51 AM »
Hi everyone,

I recently sold a large lot of ponies for quite a high price. The bidder had a (0) feedback score, which had me worried from the start. 2 days have passed and they haven't paid or responded to my messages. Pretty sure they aren't going to either.

What are my options? Do I have to wait so I can open a case against them, then wait it out, then finally able to close the case and relist? I've had to do this in the past, and it's taken a number of weeks before I can actually relist. It's a huge waste of my time...I just want to be able to relist the ponies asap.

Please can anyone advise me on this? Thank you <3

Off Topic / Should we 'Grow out of Toys'?
« on: December 18, 2017, 12:23:45 PM »
This is something I think about a lot, and I'd love to know what other people think  :)

I feel like society we're conditioned to believe we should behave in certain ways and like certain things based on our age and gender. Surely this starts from before we even know what is happening: girls are dressed in pink and boys are dressed in blue.

In a similar way, we're told that we should 'grow up' and stop liking toys at a certain age. In fact, I recently bought a Gazelle (from Zootropolis) doll from an eBay seller, who told me she was selling it because her 8 year old got it for her birthday but she was 'too old for it'  Personally I was very surprised at this, because I was still physically 'playing' with my toys until I was probably 12.

Now toys have a different purpose and meaning for me. Part of it is nostalgia but a lot of it is aesthetic. I suppose in the same way that someone might want to display a collection of antiques or collect spoons, I like to collect and display certain toys.

Throughout my life I have been made to feel like this is bad/weird by several people because I'm 'too old'. Toys are not my only hobby though - I also love vintage/antique clothing, sewing/making (which I do for a living now as a professional doll maker) and I also see caring for my two rabbits and playing with them a hobby, as it takes up so much of my time  :) Renovating my new house has also become a hobby and something I invest a lot of time in. Sometimes toys will only get a fraction of my time per week or month compared to the other things I like doing, but the point is I always come back to them. They will always bring me meaning and enjoyment.

I'd like to know how other people feel about this topic, I'm sure similar things have been discussed before but it has been on my mind a lot lately so I'd like to open a discussion about it  :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Bootsale Sky Dancers Find
« on: November 25, 2017, 08:03:40 AM »
I hardly ever visit bootsales anymore, but today I paid one a visit and was very surprised when I saw these two little ladies. It's increasingly rare to find 90s or 80s toys even out of the box, so seeing these ladies in perfect condition with their boxes was a lovely surprise.

I don't personally collect these so will be selling them on. I'm not sure of their exact worth (anyone have any ideas?) but they were too good to pass up! So pretty <3

Trader & Shipping Support / Badly Packaged Pony = Broken Pony
« on: November 02, 2017, 05:01:21 AM »
Has anyone else ever received a package with damaged toys in? I bought a lot of Grand Champion horses from the FB Marketplace App and was really excited to receive them. I gave away my childhood collection along with my childhood G1s, and of course I regret it.

Well, I got the package in the post today. The ponies were all loose with a sad layer of bubblewrap surrounding them. There were some misc/cheapy resin horses in there, all broken to smithereens.

Luckily, most of the GCs are okay. But the one model I was really excited and happy to get is so badly broken. Her neck is off and her face is split.

I can't believe it :( I've messaged the person who sold them to me about this. I feel like I should get at least a partial refund for the rubbish packaging.

Pony Corral / Who is selling/trading in the UK?
« on: October 31, 2017, 12:32:46 PM »
Hi everyone,

I've been a bit out of the loop on here for a while. I was wondering which arena members located in the UK are selling/trading at the moment? It's just more affordable to buy ponies within the same country obviously. Thank you  :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Are Grand Champion Horses Back?
« on: September 01, 2017, 05:01:07 AM »
Who else here used to collect 'Grand Champions'?

As a child I had a huge herd of them, now I just have one left, but they were really special to me and I always keep an eye out for them. I was doing some browsing on the 'ol net and came across something quite surprising:

http://buyusatoys.com/product-category/grand-champion/

New Grand Champions that look very much like these models when they were in their prime owned by Marchon/Empire/Revell. Anyone who knows a lot about these models will be aware that they got sold off to another company, repackaged, some *terrible* new poses were made that looked anatomically awful, and the whole line went down the pan. This was several years ago and I never dreamed they'd make a come back, so I'm very excited!

Some of these models look really lovely and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a few. Has anyone in the US seen these in the shops yet (I'm in the UK) - I emailed the company asking where they can be bought but haven't heard back.

I hope this excites anyone else who has a soft spot for Grand Champions  :)

For Trade / G1 Single Duvet Cover and Pillow Case for Trade
« on: July 05, 2017, 08:31:07 AM »
I have a lovely G1 single duvet cover and matching pillow case for trade. They're in very nice condition with no tears or holes. There are a few imperfections but overall in gorgeous condition - I'd say hardly used when I bought them myself. I'd be interested in trading it for G1 ponies or other vintage toy horses (Enchanted Kingdom, Fantasy Fillies). Regarding G1s I am particularly looking for Sweetheart Sisters at the moment. If you're interested in this then let me know what you have for trade  :)
